Eh i thought i might as well post up my crappy work so far. I am by no means the kind of person that tries to make shit look good from start to finish. As long as it looks great at finish, functions properly, and is pretty well built then i'm ok with it This is going in a 2004 Silverado ECSB. Total vol. will be est. @ 5.2. I'm going to tune lower than i want @ 31hz and expect it to be more at 33-34hz just because that always seems like what happens and that's where i prefer it anyway. Yes that is 1/2" mdf. I had a whole sheet sitting in the shop so i'm going to use that and fiberglass over it so it'll be closer to 3/4. The subs are mounted up and port facing forward with a flanged opening

yupp, just got my zcon 15 in the mail today. WOW im really in love with this sub. i have a bunch more to say but im in a rush at the moment... (putting hids in the truck) so here are a few pictures and a video of the unboxing. i have it in a 3.5 cf ported box on a kicker zr240 (maybe 500 watts) and im in love. sounds great and performs amazing. i dont really have enough watts to really see what she can do yet. im ordering a mike singer 260amp alt here shortly so i can run my aq3500.1 to her;) cant wait. here is a short video of the unboxing ****** youtubes fucking me around as usual so i will post it up again tomorrow morning*****

Shit who cares what system you have as long as you got a passion for audio its all good I can round up some friends here in austin so you can get demos of some loud setups When do you hve time to meet? If you can..

I fixed it for you. I'd much rather have, for example, ZED > Sony. Current product lineups, sure. But Sony has a ton of amps in their history which are very high quality pieces of engineering using very high quality parts and construction. Hell, some of them still sell for several grand a piece....someone just posted a build log on here using a pair of them. With the engineering capabilities and capital of Sony they could dominate again fairly easily if they chose....the quantity and margins just aren't there in that market anymore, likely more profitable for them to stick with the more entry level gear they presently offer.

Sorry to hear that unfortunate news and hope he gets through these issues. I understand reality hits hard and you have to deal with it. If the issues are more important than getting those paid enclosures out, shouldnt he just simply give everybody a refund and save the headache. If he can communicate with you, why not his customers? A simple im dealing with some things, give me some time or something would at least ease their minds. Agreed, was wondering the same thing after reading the post. I realize personal issues arise, but at the same time customers have entrusted their hard earned money to his business and have paid for products which have yet to be delivered with little to no updates or attempts at resolution. That becomes a very personal issue for each and every one of them, and possibly leaving himself open to some very real legal ramification. No offense to Andrew, but if I were one of the customers at this point I would be pursuing every legal avenue available to me to recover my money. At this point he doesn't owe an explanation, but he does owe some people either a product or their money. If he's in a position to communicate, he should be in some sort of condition to communicate with these people and begin the refund process. There are certain obligations he accepted when he opened for business and begin accepting customers funds.....short of being in some state of incapacitation, this is one of those obligations.

That is dB's sir.....she's an official member of the 180dB club on USAC. Alexis Hill is her name. Her father Eddie Hill was also a good competitor in his own right. I believe he did very well in 96, 97, 98, and 99 or something like that. Had a really cool truck that was painted with polka dots that faded from white to turquoise and his plates said, "U C DOTS." I can't remember what all he had in there, but it was a really nice build. Alexis had two Digital Designs 12's running off a pair of LP 4.1HV's on her stretched powerwheels Caddy. I'm not sure of the particulars of how they score those, from what I understand there is a box that the subwoofers play into and they put the sensor in that. The rest I can't help with because I just don't know. This year's finals was the first time I ever saw a powerwheels vehicle, so they are new to me and I just don't know that much about them. If you want to know anything else, I'll see her father at the end of the month and I can ask him then.

Secrets? What secrets?? Cable's system is just what it appears to be, and nothing more. It's a K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) system. No 30 drivers, no 10 amps, no high dollar head units, no 128 band mono eq's, no super computer required to run all the processing. It is so simplistic, that it blows you away that the sound of that system, comes from THAT system, and it scares the hell out of systems that 10x as much. I saw, heard and discussed the previous systems in his truck and will surely do the same in any updates. I'm not afraid the give critical analysis of his system and expect the same from him about mine. I think his truck sounds better than mine due to the awesome staging, he thinks mine sounds better tonaly, and we both are waiting to hear SQ_MGB's. Golden attitude, please get over yourself. He's enjoying his system and competing with it. You've offered him help several times, yet he's not asked for it. I guess here come my ban!

I heard his truck at finals and I didn't know there were rear speakers in the truck until they told me. Even with the rear seat out, EVERYTHING came from in front of you and was high up on the dash, including sub-bass. I don't know what he did with them, or even what they were / are, but his stage is still in front of you, extending beyond the a-pillars, both in front of you and sideways. I also looked at the angle of his kick panels and the angle of the 6 1/2's really threw me for a loop because of where they were aiming. I don't know how they work, or why, because it SEEMS like it should NOT work, but it does. I've been reading everything I can find on frequencies and angles and height and from what I've read, it seems that tweeters up high do help bring the stage up, midbass/midrange frequencies are not as directional and can be off-axis somewhat and still work because of the wavelength of the frequencies they reproduce, but I can't explain why. We all know subs are omni-directional, so that's easy to make sound up front by crossing them over low enough and having a capable midbass driver up front. That part I can grasp, I just wish I knew the physics behind all the other stuff, since I just know enough to be dangerous. All I know is SOMEHOW the combination of angles, levels, materials, and components in his truck work, and WORK WELL TOGETHER. For the amount of money he's spent, the return on his investment is pretty darn good. Am I saying it sounds better than EVERY SQ vehicle that's ever been built, NO, but if I have to almost buy a freaking HOUSE to make my vehicle sound better, mine just isn't going to sound better. I do recall a guy from a few years back that did quite well with a green Ford Probe that had a center channel in the REAR of his car, built into the hatch cover firing off the back glass. That didn't seem like it would work either, but it did. I'll try to find the magazine with him in it. (I only remember it because I used to have a car just like it) Conventional wisdom says that most of the things in his truck SHOULDN'T WORK....he's just not afraid to try something new and if it doesn't work, try something else. He has a pretty good team of minds helping him, and they all like to push the envelope a little to see if they can do what says can't be done. One of those guys put 144 12" Polk subs (yes, 144 subs, that's 1152 screws in case any of you were wondering) in a bread truck once because someone said he couldn't do it! I think he just likes to try different things and experiment and if it doesn't work, he didn't fail, he just found another way that won't work. But every now and then, one of those WTF things actually turns out and then we all try to figure out WHY. I just try to keep an open mind now since I've heard it. To my knowledge there is also NO DEADENING ANYWHERE in his truck which makes me wonder WTF??? Like I say, I can't explain the physics behind it all, because I don't know enough of it, so maybe someone else here can? Please! Pretty please! Settings on his crossovers are high pass to 6's somewhere around 32Hz for critical listening, higher for playing on the weekends. Tweets are passively crossed over I think around 3,000Hz and all eq frequencies are set to flat including bass/treble on head unit. Subs are crossed over low pass at 54Hz, all slopes are 12dB per octave I think except for subs which is 24dB per octave. The PA-II is used as a pre-amp with the head unit volume set to the maximum unclipped output level and volume is controlled by the PA-II. His crossover is an XO-3 which has level controls built in for adjustments on the fly. I can't speak for what's under the kicks because I've not seen under them. That's all I know until the end of the month when I tear his truck apart right before the show in Jackson. He doesn't know about that yet, don'r read this part Cablguy!

I TOLD you not to put that screw there............ All kidding aside, glad to hear nothing got damaged. Any revisions or just rebuilding the way you had it? By the way, your heatsink is here, I'll bring it down when I come to the show at the end of the month. Be sure to post LOTS and LOTS of pics.....we LOVE pics!!!!

I don't want to have the "baddest ass system"... i want to have a system that makes me happy. If there is a guy on my left who has a better SQ setup and a guy on my right who can hit 180db... i don't really care that my system isn't as good as theres. Sure, i'll walk over and see whats up and what they are running. But i don't get my self esteem and my hard-ons from having a better system than everyone else when i pull into a parking lot. I've been reading you're bickering with M5 for about 20 minutes now on different threads. I usually try to avoid conflict because my knowledge is limited. But sense I've read all the arguing I would have to agree with M5. Stating your achievements over and over and over again is rather annoying. It's in your signature. We can see it. And you often fail to answer M5's questions... i don't remember what thread it was... it was the one where Impious chimed in. I have no personal experience from them but they both seem extremely helpful and intelligent when it comes to this stuff. I mean, on the forum homepage they hold the top two spots for most supportive. They know their stuff. I would like to say the same to you... but in my opinion, you haven't exactly proven that. You have said some good, helpful things. But then alot of the time some dumb-ass comments come out of your mouth. Like the whole notes below 25hz in daily music thing. Just take M5's comments. Sure, he doesn't exactly have Santa Claus like cheer, but he's got knowledge. And i feel like you do as well but you're hiding it. Either that or whoever really set-up your truck has the knowledge. I respect your competitive spirit. But gloating about winning just makes you seem immature. And i definitely respect your relationship to Blues car audio. Better luck on your truck. My explorer back window had a water leak itself (funny how that happens when someone breaks your rear window ), luckily no equipment was inside. If there are any comps near Michigan i would love and come check out your truck.
