cleanest sounding daily driver sub to fight the acoustics battele of a
ChristianMcKay replied to lrfag's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Im pretty sure he knows that, nobody even spoke on this so its way left field (he's asking about subwoofers, not what he shouldnt play his interior speakers down to). Okay, my bad then. I didn't realize it was going to turn into an issue. -

Well, I was just saying not to let the speakers play down to 30 hz. -

Should probably put a high pass on those front speakers too. -

i was leaning more towards loud i just dont want it really sloppy. i was looking at a 12" fi ssd or 12" re audio srx Between the two of them, I would go with the SSD or a Q. The Q is a SQ sub but I'm sure it'll get plenty loud enough for you. -

Oh, you'll have to wait for someone else to answer that, but as far as subs go, do you want it to be more loud or quality oriented? -

400 watt amp @ 2 ohms
ChristianMcKay replied to ChristianMcKay's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yeah, I decided on the Soundstream 400.1, but I couldn't talk her into selling that turd she has and getting something good. I couldn't even talk her into a Fi SSD 12" Got talked out of it by the person who installed the system she has now. I'm not sure how that happened -
400 watt amp @ 2 ohms

Not my choice, but this girl needs an amp that does 400 watts @ 2 ohms. List a few ideas for me. -
Las Vegas Nevada I thought it was funny that he told him it was a Chinese company and that it doesn't have good sound quality when it's made in Las Vegas and is a sound quality sub. What is even funnier though is talking about Sound Quality WITHOUT discussing a front stage. The sub isn't a very big piece of the puzzle if that is truly your goal. You need to spend WAY more time and money on the fronts for SQ. Perhaps a discussion of what is going up front would help. Most likely you won't need anywhere near 1000w to keep up, so either amp the gains would be near minimum. I'd sell the Hifonics junk though. Guess I'm under the misconception that Hifonics is good?

What amp are you running it with?
-
I'm not 100% on this, but isn't the Fi Q (along with everything else by Fi) made in Nevada?
-
Yeah, just referring to how it's nice to see a topic about impedance and not impedance rise.

Alright. I'll post pics of this build even though I'm not putting much into it since it's basically charity work. -

Yeah, that was what I was wondering. Is Soundstream a good company? -
Well it's pretty nice to get away from impedance rise. How do people not know this though?

400 watt amp @ 2 ohms
ChristianMcKay replied to ChristianMcKay's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Well, here is everything I know. It's powering an Audiobahn D. Jones 12" sub (I told her to sell it and get a good sub instead.) It's a dual 4 ohm voice coil sub (200 watts/coil) I'm going to rebuild the box (2.3 cubic feet after displacement) to have a slotted port tuned to 35 hz and get it out of the Q Logic enclosure. It's going in a Honda Civic The person who installed it did a terrible job and ran the remote wire straight from the battery to the amp, so now she has to take the fuse out every time she gets out of the car. I don't know what amp is powering it, but I know that it does 100 watts RMS. -

Yeah, but I just wanted to get the opinion of a few different people. -
