  1. Im looking into to upgrading to a high output alternator. I was searching high output alternators for 1999 ford contour and found db electrical. they sell a 220A alt for 239 plus like 20 shipping. i think thats reasonable but id like to know if its worth it. anyone have any experience with db electrical alternators? also open to suggestions on other places to look. i have a 1999 ford contour 4 cyclinder 2.0 liter. id ike to keep the cost around 2-300 but i can probably go a little higher if i have to.

    DB Electrical alternators any good?

I called dc last week gave them the information they asked for and they said they'd call back but have not. I'll give them another call, hope I don't get the same results as my last call.

    DB Electrical alternators any good?

Iraggi nor dc power have gotten back to me. I emailed powermaster last night and they already responded. The biggest alt they have for my car is 150 amps, is that sufficient to run a sundown sae 1200 and a 4 channel say a sundown sax 100.4 or aq 4x90? And how about powerbastards, are they any good? They have a 220a alt for my car for 300 shipped. Only thing I'm kinda effy about is the fits all case.
  5. So today i went to replace my girlfriends hifonics bxi 610 with my old rd 1000.1 v1 amp. Before i made the swap she said sub was playing. After i swap the amps i go to tune the amp by ear and absolulately zero output from the sub. So i grab my dmm and turn it to the ohms setting, with the car off it reads .9-1.1 but when i turn the car on it goes to -23-25. first i think maybe the sub has a bad lead or something so i go grab another perfectly working sub and get the same results. Then i was thinking its gotta be the amp then so i switch them back, same results on both subs and both amps. So now shes without beats and its all my fault of course so i wont hear the end of it til i fix it.And to say the least im baffled, you guys got any ideas?

    car off, impedence=.9-1.1...car on impedence= -23. wtf

Just went and pulled the deck out. I had the rcas plugged in the bus in what is that? Moved it to sub out and it's all good plays just fine. I feel dumb. I deserve to be laughed at.

I don't even know how that happened sorry about that triple post. That was my attempt at an edit. itouch can be a pain in the ass.

    car off, impedence=.9-1.1...car on impedence= -23. wtf

I checked the impedence because I wasn't gettin any output from the speaker. I checked the the imp at the amp and box. I also checked the power at the amp, 14.1 volts. The power light was on. When I turned the volume up and turned the gain the sub never moved. The impedence nor power ever changed at the amp either. Lol seriously right this second I thought to myself, rcas. That seems to make sense, I know I had the right on the amps but I don't recall double checking the ones on the hu. Or possibly bad. Now I feel dumb.

    2 treo te 10's

I wouldn't replace your arc audio amp for an autotek. Are your subs in their recommended enclosure? If not, you could start by making a good one. And if that doesn't reach your goals, then get something different. Or if you really want to try something new. I think two incriminator audio lethal injections would go good off that power. Check out the store here there's a lot of good products that may spark your interest.

    DB Electrical alternators any good?

Still haven't recieved a message from dc or iraggi. I called both today, talked to dc they took down all my information(car make/model/year and contact info) and said they'd give me a call back. Being done alot of research, so far I haven't seen anything bad about db.

    DB Electrical alternators any good?

Just curious but what's your voltage at at idle and when it's around 1200-1500 rpms? I'm with you the wanting my voltage to be steady, that's why I'm looking at HO alts in the first place. After you do your experimenting let me know what you think, I'm really curious. And do you have a system hooked up now? If so how much power are you running and how's your voltage at idle with the volume cranked.

    DB Electrical alternators any good?

checked out the mechman and dc power sites, and iraggi store on ebay. mechman and iraggi both had one for the 2.5 liter version of my car and dc didnt have anything on their site for fords besides trucks, SUVs, and mustangs. i emailed iraggi and dc to see if they make one for my car still waiting on a response. i couldnt find an email address for mechman so ill probably give them a call in the next couple days. the 220a alt iraggi makes for the 2.5 liter version of my car is on 30 more bucks then the 220a alt from db.mechman is quite a bit more. still kind of thinking about the db electric alt, clownin27 and a few guys from ecoustics said they used them were satisfied. both guys on ecoustics said they never had a single failure years after and would buy again from them. ill definately find out prices from the suggested places first and may go with iraggi considering there not much cost differences and there are alot of people who can speak for iraggi

    fat mat ?

Oh yea it's asphalt. No doubt about it, its has a distinct smell-asphalt. It's only 50-60 degrees around here now but not looking forward to how much it's gonna smell on hot summer days.

    fat mat ?

I recently installed some fatmat in my trunk and rear deck. It wasn't near as thick as I thought it was gonna be and it has a pretty strong odor, kind of an asphalt smell. It was my first time doing it so I don't know how it compares to second skin, but from what I hear second skin is the shit. As far as results from the fatmat, I'm satisfied deadened the rattle outside of the car and it sounds much better inside the car. Actually get to enjoy the sound of my subs without annoying buzzing and rattling. I definatly don't regret it but the next time I do it I'll spend more money for better quality deadner. It was alot of work, not something I look forward to doing again. Best to do it right the first time

    blew my sub

Try using titebond 2 for ur wood glue. It's alot easier to work with then liquId nail and is very strong.
  19. I've been looking to upgrade to either 2 12 SA's or 2 Lethal Injections. Ill be powering either set with a Sundown Sae 1200 v2 and will build an enclosure to specifications. I know it'll probably just come down to brand preference since both are quality subwoofers. So basically I'd just like to hear other peoples input because I havent heard any sundown or ia subs. Thanks in advance, looking forward to trying something new.

How did you guys find SSA???

I found ssaudio when i decided i wanted to try something new, run a completely different set-up. So i started looking into Sundown Audio, searched it on google or something and found the forum pretty close to the top of the results. I really like this forum, very informational, friendly, and i love how there are threads of product testing. Made me a firm believer in the products associated with the site. I came here wanting to learn about sundown and found everything i wanted to know. Also found the different set-up im planning on going with at the ssa store, Sundown SAE 1200 v2 and 2 12 Incriminator Audio Lethal Injections.

Sundown EXACT same as IA and RD amps??

The D9's are good amps, but it'll take you 6 months for him to ship you one, and you can forget it if you expect to get any warranty coverage. very true I made my first and last purchase from rd last September. I ordered the new rd 1000.1 in the beginning of September and didn't get it til late December. Ran it for maybe three weeks no problems then one day out of the blue it just pooped out. And for sure it wasn't my error because right after it took a shit I took it out and put my hifonics 1210d right in it's place and went on beating just fine. So I called rd and Steve said I'd have to pay repair cost, screw that I'm done with rd. Ordering a sundown 1200 real soon

    Sae 1200 on stock alternator?

My current setup is 2 12" Orion xtr pros dvc 4 ohms wired to 1 ohm powered by rd audio 1000.1 v1 amp with all 0 gauge power and grounds. I have a stock 110 amp alt with a big three upgrade in knukonceptz copper clad 1/0 wire and a litte beefer battery then my car requires. I've been looking into sundown for a while and would love to get a sae 1200 v2. My electrical handles the 1000.1 pretty good, lights don't realy dim unless I'm parked with it cranked up, and voltage doesn't usually go under 13. I know it'd be ideal to upgrade to a HO alt but I don't plan on having this car for more than a year or so. So I was thinking could I upgrade to the sundown amp if I added a yellow top or some other good battery(open to suggestions) in the trunk? Thanks in advance.
