  1. I am turning into Sean with car shopping...what sporty car to replace the Miata with?

    - 4 seats, otherwise I'm keeping the Miata or getting a C5

    - decent power, should do 0-60 in under 6 seconds

    - under 3 liters displacement

    - decent handling / not a road barge

    - if it's small-ish it might even replace the econobox I'm hooning around town, so going down from 3 to 2 cars.

So far the previous gen Type R, Mustang S550 (ecoboost) and M135i are real contenders.

I'd love a K24 or LS swapped RX8 but not sure how I can legally swing a K24 swap, let alone an LS swap. K24 RX8 would tick all boxes, including high wife acceptance factor.

On a not so happy note, we took a pre-emptive Covid test (no symptoms) before going to my parents house for Thanksgiving and my 10 year old has Covid.  I am stuck in reading research mode on what to eat/take/suppliment to keep him healthy as can be and the rest of us safe.  Non-vaxxed as that has only been an option for 2 weeks.  My respiratorial risky child was vaxxed just two months ago.  The other three of us tested ok.

    Plenty of Vitamin C?

Toasters are utilitarian, not attractive, and this one can make a thousand slices at once.

With the gas prices and snow season is getting close, I need to get my econobox insured and inspected.  I kinda miss driving it. The shifter is approximate, front and rear overhang is almost inexistant and I can drive it like a rental.

    Ok…..

I think I am gonna work on those maelstrom boxes.  Don’t want to think, just need help.  I don’t think I even have the TS parameters for these old 18” maelstrom-x.  Each sub is a single voice coil.

Should I just seal up the boxes I have now, or should I design in a vent for the enclosure?

    Right now each box is 24”x 54” x 27”

I may have to trim some of those measurements if the MDF got wet.  Right now they are just 2 C channels with 3 open sides.

I’m powering the pair of maelstroms with a PLX3102 from QSC. I don’t think I’ll be able to wire them to squeeze the full juice out of this amp but I got it for a song and it is better then the low end roll off on the other options at the time

Throw out your ideas, might as well make it a group project!

    :-D

    Seal them up :D

Did you try the wayback machine for some website archives?

  5. I have a very very difficult time not buying a Mazdaspeed 6. It's less than what I sold the Miata for, has downpipe and tune, looks really nicely maintained and needs the transfer case replaced. To make it harder to refrain from buying, it's 20 miles from an airport to which I have a direct flight.

A three year gap in interviews? Did you lose out barely to someone in 2018 and now they are circling back?

Distance is a huge factor and important too. Hopefully whatever decision you make proves very fruitful for you!!!

It was a different hiring round and I decided not to continue then.

  7. Average rent here is 4x lower than in Vancouver, and where I live rent is the highest in the country.

Average pay for my position is 6x lower compared to Vancouver.

Let's say I want a new Wrangler, I'd pay here as much as in Canada/US. Or even more. So ignoring the real-estate, consumer goods are really closely priced.

  8. It's just an invitation to the interview, would be the second one, I already had a first interview with them in 2018.

On one side, I can't complain about life here, in-laws are close, we're getting ready to build the house, the city and country is safe, I can spend time with the kid and wife instead of slaving away on a job.

On the other side, the pay has way more potential than here, there are other opportunities for all 3 of us on the other side of the pond (jobs, education, travel, hobbies).

I think the biggest factor would be distance from the in-laws.

The Escalade is back to stock brakes.  Wilwoods can blow me.  WORST money I've ever spent.

    Bonkers!

I'm past 60k miles on the first set of rotors on my DIY big brake kit and they are now slightly warped.

Did I mention I hate auto transmissions?! At least the C4 is a mindless one to work on. Needed new seals, bushings and gaskets.:)No photo description available.

I fixed my Mercedes 5-speed auto. Only clutches and brakes, no bands, it was easy-peasy.

And no, it can NEVER be big enough

    Of course.

Downstairs we only have the garage, kitchen and living room. The architect said he had to move the furnace room upstairs to avoid having huge bedrooms :D

My wife was home today so I backed the boat in and reorganized the garage.  Way faster to back it in, but fuck.  1" on both sides for width and this clearance for front and back makes the butt pucker.

Way easier to get out when backed in.  Like it when she is home :P

About as much clearance as I have in front and ack of the Jeep in one of the garages. Just put a wheel chock where the rearmost wheels should stop and done.
