alright so im setting up a system for my cousin to get as a christmas present and the budget is $500, i have a Stereo and speakers picked out but they dont want to buy an amp so my question is will the stereo be able to power these speakers. the stereo is an Alpine CDA-105 and the speakers are the Alpine SPS-600c and SPS-600.
-
do i need an amp or no?
SaxMan replied to SaxMan's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
they decided to get just the stereo because they said the speakers are decent its just they have a super shitty stereo, it plays cassette tapes, thats how old it is, they just want ipod control. -
Nice to see you on this Forum, told ya ppl would tell you everything you need to know

What are the Pro's and Con's of a Capacitor?
-
Im going with a sealed box, i thought i put it in. my bad... wooow just realized that that is for a 15" not the 12.....
-
ok, well i have truely made up my mind and will be going with the Fi Q 12". my question is, will this box be good for the sub i.e. enough room for the sub to "breathe"? Box specs: Depth: 11 Width: 30 Height: 16 CuFT: 2.27
-
the sub is a 10" FI BL, i was using the RE box calculator.
-
For a slot port is 2" for the width too small? Will there be port noise? Box Specs: width: 25 height: 13 depth: 13 wood thickness: 0.75 port height: 11.5 port width: 2 port length 1: 10.25 port length 2: 14 tuning Hz: 37
-
what is the difference between the two? sub would be a 12" FI BL in a 2.5 CuFt box with about 1200 watts. would i save room with the round port? i forgot the tuning, 33Hz
-
can you show me how to measure the length of a port? i need to design a box for the installers cause they want to do a weird ass port design cause they think the port wont fit.
-
Well I was going for the least restrictive port. I guess you could fire out of the like you want but with the same internal idea that i had. You'll just need to add a triangle piece of wood in the corner to change the direction of the air flow. Also I won't be building this box, someone else will be. I have no carpentry skills. I would like to build it myself. But it is too complicated. Building is really interesting sometimes. You come up with many ideas to fix your screw ups.. My father won't let me either. I can't even install my stereo. I'm pissed but also happy cause I don't want something bad to happen when I install but I know that's how you learn so I'm torn.

It's the spare tire. I need it but I don't want it lol I want a sub enclosure. How would that sound? It would be facing the side of the trunk. I was thinking of port firing the same way as the sub.
-
Alright. Thank you very much
-
well im trying to keep the spare tire, Idont want to but im being forced to. and so i measured it (finally) and it is 11" deep into the trunk. i would like to keep the design but i dont know if i can. and im pissed off cause i was starting to like the idea.

There is one more piece of information I need. What is the max depth of the of the left side in the top view. (the part where the ports are firing in your drawing) just found out the maximum depth of the box can be 11". So I'm going to scrap my idea And just build a normal box. Is 11" too shallow for a 10" FI BL

welcome to the forum, im from SMD too, they comment like there is no tomorrow, trust me.

Well If you want 1.2 cuft net, you are going to need 1.36 cuft internal volume using an external port. The way the aero's are in the drawing is more trouble than its worth. I think an external port is the way to go for you.. What is the radius of that curve? We'll use it to get your last .15 cuft of box volume you need. the radius would be 6" i think that might get me the amount i need, it can also be smaller. thats the maximum.
-
yup, i want 1.2 cuft. ok, um i dont think i can extend the width because im trying to keep my spare tire, and i thought i wouldnt have enough room for a slot port, thats why i choose aero, but if you think i have room im down. the curved piece would be cosmetic, but if it could help with volume then i can use it. im planing on having some one build this for me, but i want a set design.
-
well I was planning on having a compartment for the sub then have another with the port seperated by a thin compartment all are connected of course. Or use aero ports so I don't need the port compartment. And 8 inch. Is a rough guesstament could you elaborate? This is VERY VERY late but here are the pictures of what im thinking about doing, ive decided to go with aero ports, unless you can think of something else. the sub would be a 10" FI BL and the ports can be any diameter, the tuning is 33 Hz
-
how much is a kerfed port gonna cost? did i spell it right?
-
if i am correct the label on the bottom means you have cooling, it is just there so you dont see the plug, but thats all i know.

Enclosure Build for stefanhinote (Two 12 Inch Sundown Audio SA's)
SaxMan replied to Argent Audio's topic in Argent Audio
What was the final dimensions on your box and how much was it including shipping.I'm thinking about getting one. Best thing to do would be to just email with the specs and options you want, to find a close estimate.
