  1. If you want the speakers flush mounted you can do this with the router and one piece of wood. Set the depth of the router bit only as deep as you need to flush mount the speaker. An example of this is look at the hinges on a house door. Use the router to cut out the circle and to counter sink your speaker. You will probably a piece of wood thicher than 1/2" though.
  2. A router will give you the best results. Practice on some scrap wood and make sure it's clamped down securely.
  3. Very nice work. Can't wait to see it finished.

In Process of box for L5 8"..

The box looks good, especially for your first box. I would round off the edges around the port and spray the inside of the port with a flat black spray paint.

    component wiring

To keep it simple just bridge your amp to 2 channels. Run one channel to the left side and the other to the right. You will still have left and right separation. Set your gain properly and adjust the sound to your liking.

I know I have a car audio addiction when......

When you are looking for a new car and the first thing you check out is the trunk.
  8. Yeah the box is critical, but like banginGMC said it's only wood, screws and glue. If your buddy can build you a good box and have it tuned properly then you will be way better off than buying a pre-fab enclosure. Also if you can, be there and help with the build. That way you can get an idea of what is involved with building a box. Good luck man.

    truck box- sealed l7s

Yup, then I took out the back seat and built a huge box for them. Each one in a 1.75 ft3 enclosure, double 3/4" MDF and tuned to 35 Hz.. Insane.

    truck box- sealed l7s

I had two CVX 10's (the round versions of the L7's) in my extended cab truck. I originally had them in a small sealed box under the rear seat and each one was getting 1000 watts, which sounded good. Then I built a ported box for one of the tens under the seat, still getting 1000 watts and it was louder and sounded better that the two subs in a sealed enclosure with double the power.

Off to a nice start. This is about the same set up I want for my next vehicle. Would like to see more pics as you do more to your truck.

How did you guys find SSA???

I saw Xcons on another forum and started looking them up. Found the online store and then this site. The people here seem more helpful and more intelligent than the people giving answers on a lot of the other sites.

    Hi Forum

Just wanted to say hi to the forum. I am new to this forum but have been into car audio for around 20 years. I have to say that this is one of the best forums I have seen for car stereos. I am getting a truck soon and am getting ready for a new system. I have my components and 3 amps from my last set up, just need to decide on the rest of the equipment after I get the vehicle.
