How much difference between 1 ohm vs. 2 ohm loads?

Well, by reading what you said I am guessing since they have the same amount of wattage being distributed to the subwoofer, I would say no there shouldn't be any difference.

I guess I should've been a little more clear, I meant output of the subwoofers, like would they sounds better, hit harder, etc.

Need help on making a decision...

Thank you sir, I think Imma probably stay ported, how would I go about sealing the trunk off from the interior? Also, if I were to have them facing the other way the port would need to be on the back of the box? I am interested in having them face forward, but if it's something I can't do then I'd rather save myself the trouble, and the frustration lol.

Need help on making a decision...

Trying to make a few decisions. First, I have a 2005 Ford 500 SEL Edition, I am trying to decide if I should have my subs facing the trunk, or facing the seating part of the car. Second, anyone out there with XCON's that has had them sealed and ported and could tell me which one they seemed to think is better. I've have them ported, but I am curious to hear what they sound like sealed. Third, If I decide to stay ported, I am going to redo the enclosure for them, but having a hard time deciding what tuning to use, any recommendation? My last enclosure, I can't tell you anything about, seeing as it was junk in my opinion, and the person who built it in my opinion was an idiot, and probably partly responsible for the damage sub I have now, but in the end it was my fault. The only thing I can tell you about the box is the dimensions, Fourth, I am having a hard time finding a alternator to go with, a little info about my setup, 2 12" XCON's D2's, 2 SAZ 1500D's strapped, 1400 kinetik batterey, and a piece of garbage Duralast 860 in the front, and stock Alt, and a Pioneer Premiere DEH-P510UB. I know I need to improve on my electrical, but I have no idea what to go with, and I am finding it hard to find an alt for my car at all. Outside Enclosure Dimensions: Wide: 34" Height: 16" Depth: 25" I didn't really think all the dust would show up on the radio picture but blackberry cameras ftw! lol Edit: For shats and gaggles, Again for shats and gaggles, I got 4 tickets in 3 weeks in this 2001 F150, and that's why it's in the driveway, it's bad luck lol. I've never even gotten pulled over in my 500.

    Dbl Bellys S10 Build.

I know how you feel I had a solid setup for like 2 months, then i didn't for a while then I did for a another 2 months and now I haven't for like 4 months lol. Now I am in the process of getting up some money so I can redo my setup on my own. For real though I'd like to see this S10 in person, a buddy of mine has a S10 and I've always tried to get him to put something into it but he always says no that he wouldn't waste the money on it. My girlfriend has a S10 but she won't let me touch it lol.

I am going to jump off a cliff!

For starters I my name is Matt, I use to have an account on here but I am guessing from the cause of inactivity my account was deleted. I haven't been on here in quite sometime. Probably almost, I don't know to to be honest. I wanted to seek help from all of you from SSA Forums, because I bought 2 12" D2 SSA XCONS, and 2 sundown audio 1500d's almost a year ago. I wanted to bebuild my box for the subs, and I wanted to ask from you guys a little help, lessons, and knowledge from you guys. I am not a pro at car audio nor audio in general. In all honesty, I am an idiot, but I like learning about anything and everything. I have had systems in the past, but what made me buy these XCONs was that I was tired of systems that didn't impress me. I found the XCONs by total accident, and I just said **** it and took a chance cause I saw all the good things about them being said on here and I was like hell i'll give them a shot. I love bass, and boy did they bring it to my ears, my car, my body, pretty much everything in my car and somewhat out of my car lol. I am going to go with the basic design that SSA offers for the dual enclosure ported, I just need to know what all supplies i'll need to be building this correctly, and maybe some tips that you guys might want to share. Any questions that you guys might have for me, for you to be able to help me, I'll do my best to answer them. I also say in advance thank you lol.

    2~15" Icon's Build

My family used to own a cottage on Walloon Lake, but that was 20 years ago. (wow now I feel old....LOL) I've been meaning to take a trip up to fish Lake Erie but every time I plan it some weird crap always happens so I can't go... There's a thread for Slamology with links and stuff already on the forum, Slamology.....Central Indiana - SSA Car Audio Forum Hope to see ya there man! A few members from here are going as well. Adam Turner! WoW, What cave have you been hiding in???? Long time no here man! (call me this weekend!) Well let's go get this dang thing done and see what it looks like inside the truck! Fresh pics again tonight too.... Hahaha, yeah that was before my time. Although I don't blame you for never making it up here lol, it sucks here in Michigan. Nothing but a waste land. Gets worse everyday in my opinion. Get them pics up, I wanna see this thing finished. I looked over your last build, and it was sweet. I guessing this is going to be better seeing that your redoing it. What were you trying to get up here to fish for? There's small time fishing, and then there's the other kind that's a little bit funner, lol. Edit: I will be attending Slamology, most definitely as a spectator, 5 Hr drive is worth the entertainment lol. You going to be there for the whole weekend?

You live one state, barely a couple hours from the state line and it's been that long? Also where is this Slamology held? I'll come there and check your setup out, i'd like to see this enclosure in person, and of course those icons lol.

    2~15" Icon's Build

i know how you feel with wanting to hear your subs man, i haven't heard mine going on 4 months now, and it's a nightmare. absolutely phenomenal build on the box, looking through this whole topic i was trying to guess what it was going to look like, and every time there was a post with new pics, you did the unexpected lol. :fing34: Seeing you live one state from me, wanna build another masterpiece for me? jk jk

I am going to jump off a cliff!

What do you mean by bracing the box, and what do I use to seal the edges of the box? Glue?

I am going to jump off a cliff!

I am not a pro at Car Audio or building enclosures, but I have done some difficult carpentry projects and learned my lesson that measuring 100 times and only cutting once is better then measuring once and making costly mistakes. Tool wise I believe I have everything I need. My dad left me all his tools and he was a handyman lol. Had every tool you would ever need for anything pretty much.

I am going to jump off a cliff!

Exactly where would I be able to find some of these articles? Or any websites, books, that you think would help me? I am a complete novice at this stuff, I had a lot of help when I had installed my XCONS. Since your new at this, you'll actually find yourself getting a lot of honest help from people on here. Sorry if this seems long winded but if you really want to take a stab at building your own enclosure, Keep your first build simple and to the point. On SSA's Home page you can find info on specs and enclosure recommendations. Also I can't stress this enough: PLAN - Measure your space accurately - Plan again - and measure to confirm before you touch a saw to any MDF. You don't want to waste a weekend building, only to find out something isn't right or you can't even begin to get the thing in your ride! Check out some people's build logs on here and look at their pics involving the construction of their enclosure. Ask any questions that may come to mind as to how and why things are done the way they are. Keep in mind that a lot of people have different ways of achieving the same end results when the do things. There are a ton of little tricks, some are common knowledge open to all and some have their own secrets..... Shizzzon basically gave a good list as to the tools you'll need to get building. I'd like to add a basic materials list to help ya out too. I'd pick up a large box of 2~1/2" screws. They are kinda a goldish color screw. (Home depot or Lowe's) get a pilot drill bit that will be proper size for the screw shank. (can't think of the size, off the top of my head sorry ) 3/4" MDF (Home Depot or Lowe's) 1 or 2 - 2"x4" stud material (for bracing the inside) I have looked at many build logs on this site, honestly one of my favorite things to do lol. One of the ones I followed for a while there, it was probably a few months back maybe even more, was Big Daves build, was in his truck I believe was a F250. I love that build, was amazing craftsmanship. Enclosure recommendation wise, I was going to use there design that they have up on there site for 2 XCONS. It seems alot more well constructed then mine. The enclosure I have now is not a bad enclosure, but I have no idea how much cubic feet it has. I just wanna learn how to do this the right way for myself, so I can actually look at the system and be pleased with it and myself as well as listening to it and be pleased lol. I've always had a thing for car audio. It just brings happiness to me lol. When I get ready to start building this enclosure I will be asking a lot of questions so I know I am doing things correctly, and have pic by pic so I can be looked on by you guys so I don't make any costly mistakes.

I've read on the internet that spray painting a port hole is a good idea?
