    Wattage in terms of spl

And if this isn't enough then maybe buy another Type R? Then you wouldn't have to worry about selling/getting rid of it....just a thought, especially if you like the way it sounds and have the space.

What subs are you running in the plane?

What crazy claims have you heard people make?

"No speaker is supposed to play anything below 25 hz. It will damage your ears because it's no longer sound, but shockwaves." Guess I should be deaf then Oh and I saw on an episode of "1000 Ways to Die" that a guy got ahold of some "government tracks with rolling subsonic frequencies" and he played it too loud and it melted his brain or something lawl

    CDs anyone?

I used to think like this, but I have 3,805 songs on my Ipod lol. There is no way in hell I'll be able to find 320's of everything. But to the op, I tried dow...erm... obtaining an album in 320kbps mp3's and A/B testing it with the actual CD and the only thing I noticed was that the CD skipped...lol. If you have an absolute no nonsense sound quality system then I'd say maybe you'll be better off with CD quality recordings, but for people with the average ears and systems, anything above 128 should do you fine. Some people trip me out when they say "I won't listen to any song that's not XXXkbps." Some of my favorite songs I can only find in absolute garbage quality (96kbps lol) but I jam that shit all week long.
  6. /thread imo. This is incredibly....I don't even know a word for this.

Yes sir.... *has $800 calmly awaiting the release of these*
  11. Lol are you seriously still asking this? I mean...I'm not trying to be an ass but you said yourself it says "Sealed Lead Acid Battery" and it has a crack in it. Si...............why would you want lead acid fumes floating around in your car? Just on a common sense level. I know you already bought it and want to use it but seriously this is a really easy decision. EDIT: Aww you ninja'd me. Well glad to see you care about your health haha.

    Windows down volume increase

I'm skeptical of that. Mine do. Considerably. Play your subs with the trunk/hatch open where there's less pressure and see. It may be harder to see at first with just the windows down but if you do it with the trunk or doors you'll see. EDIT: Now that I think about it, just remove the area that the subs load off of and they'll move more. If you have a loading wall, for example, it wouldn't make a difference. My subs load off of my roof, so when I roll the windows down or open the hatch it gives the subs a bigger "car" to pressurize.

    Windows down volume increase

If you can see your subs...watch them. They probably move a lot more with the window down. More travel = more sound. On a side note, I can change my frequency response completely just by rolling windows down. My box is tuned to 28hz and with the back windows all the way up I can play into teens (about 17hz) with no problems, but it's only good for rap music lol. When I want to listen to something more complicated or snappy (Like double drums in rock) I roll the back windows down and get a nice boost in the 40~60hz area. Just mess with it and see how it changes the sound and you might find something useful.
  14. TBH...Cheaper for the same shit = new customers. I mean, for a basic, quality product how can you turn that down?

Port Extended outside of the box?

Incorrect. You subtract the volume of the port from the volume of the box because your woofer doesn't use the space that the port takes up. In my case, my 2 12's see 3.5 cubes total, but the box is a hell of a lot bigger than 3.5 cubes because the port is really big. An external port is just an extended one, it lowers the tuning and doesn't affect box volume at all. For example, you could take a 2.5 cubic foot sealed box and cut holes in it, add an exteral port to the hole you cut (the tube would be sticking out) and it would be 2.5 cubes tuned to whatever the port is tuned to. Spl guys do it all the time so they can change tuning whenever they need.

will shorting your amp power cable

Back when I first started, we used to touch the wire to the frame to make sure it was "working" lolololololol Luckily nothing ever caught fire. We melted a bolt one time though haha

    600w FCON Prototype

same here bro X3. These are going to sell well. I hope so. I know this IS the SSA forum, but you guys are great. I know it's not easy to be at the top of the business chain and still be down here sorting things out with potential customers.

    New toy!!!!!!

Some people are more worried about their wallet absorbing the impact in the event of a wreck. Fortunately, money can be made back...people usually can't.

    600w FCON Prototype

Haha, I meant for me! I'm trying out this whole "shit ton of cone area, low power" approach this time. 2 12's on 999999999 watts to get loud makes my wallet At the moment, the Fcon is only planned for 10/12/15 sizing. If there was demand for an 18", like there was demand for a Dcon 15", there will have to be some design adjustments to accommodate for the larger moving mass. We do not half-ass out drivers, so there is not going to be another size of a driver just to have it, it will be correctly designed if there is a need. The Dcon 15 currently fills that slot for us. As for an easy grasp of the Fcon, the watered down idea is to have a 5/8th's Icon. As in same sound, similar box specs, similar characteristics, just dialed back a bit in most regards. Hmmm...ok, back to my original idea of 3 15's ported. That way I can overbuild the box (even though you can rarely overbuild a good enclosure) and drop 3 X/ZCON's in it later on...but if you do ever feel the need to release that 18 you can expect a customer who will need some recones...haha EDIT: And now that I think some more...the only thing that is keeping me from having 3 ICONs is dropping 900+ on subs. If the FCON can deliver the same sound and build quality for less money (at the cost of reduced power handling, which is a non factor in my case) then you will have a very happy customer!

Which one would you take given the choice

EDIT: Reading fail. That is all.

    Component Speaker Question

If you're good at tuning then go for this Pioneer set. It might not sound great out of the box, but I have personally heard a set that sounded great with a little work. Better than my Hertz HSK-165. If you wanna spend a little more, go for this ID set. The tweets are VERY bright and in your face so you'll want to mount them low and off axis. I have personally heard these as well. I haven't heard the Rockfords though. And obviously you can look around the internet and find better prices. I just like Sonic cuz they have the best pictures.

    Component Speaker Question

This probably doesn't help at all but............I had the power 6x9's and they sounded pretty decent as far as the quality of sound. With where they were mounted imaging and staging was doodoo but they got loud and sounded good. EDIT: I had the two ways with the "floating" tweeter so it was kinda like a component set.

They will not be IB specific. But, they will surely be sealed friendly, just like the Icon/Xcon etc. 18's sealed?
