  1. Let's say a magical amplifier was 100% efficient, meaning it didn't lose any power to heat, etc. At 14.0v it would require 107amperes to produce 1498watts. There is no way for an amp to produce more power then the amperage and voltage it's being ran on.

And most amps are measured at higher frequencies and higher ohm loads then what they'll actually be used for. At least in your case. Saz1500d for example, Efficiency : 86% @ 4 ohm, at 100Hz. You'll likely have it crossed a fair amount lower, it'll be playing frequencies even lower, and your probably going to wire down to 1ohm, so your real world efficiency is going to drop.

Now let me blow your mind, there's this thing called impedance rise, and well, once you start playing music, tones, what ever, the voicecoils on the driver will heat up and the impedance will rise a fair amount. Meaning you'll never really see 1500watts, at least for very long.

Oh and music is dynamic unlike a sine wave, so even impedance rise thrown to the side, you'll never have a constant 1500watts to your drivers (not even close).

    :)

    Physics :fing34:

    Can't 1500 watts at 1 ohm just be 1500 watts at 1 ohm! :suicide-santa:

How fun it is to dream....

  2. oh of course , im not saying im trying to show off. its actually going to be a lil competition between me and my other friend to see who has the better setup with same amp, different sub. but no definitely not trying to show off.

i understand that i need power for power, im just looking for something that doesnt ask for as much power.. like the hifonics, those amps took more juice then they put out..

id like a amp that reasonably doesnt take alot of juice, like more than it outputs. ya kno?

I want to know if you ever find one of those amps, EVERY amp "takes more juice then it puts out"

Which is why efficiency is always .xx Give an amp with 75 percent efficiency 100 amps and it'll waste 25 of them. Just the way shizz goes.

  3. Hey guys...thanks for joining me. As you can see, my name is An-i-no and I think I'm a subsono-holic....

LOL on a serious note I have 2 Sa-12's on a RF P500-2 (~350x2) in 1 cube sealed each. They sound effin awesome but they're well...quiet. I already made plans to get a bigger amp (between 1500 and 2000 depending on my monies) but I saw that Sundown was having a b-stock sale and I started thinkin...

I want to go ported at 27hz. That's where my listening habits are. Slow ass rap songs that send shockwaves through your organs. My sealed box isn't having that, but duh, I knew that when I bought it. The sealed box does however...allow me to play super-extra low tones that a ported box would bail out and leave my subs to die on (Or the subsonic would kill off, either way I can't play it). By super-extra low I mean songs like "The bass will destroy you"(17~13hz) and a couple of other songs I don't think anyone's ever heard of that get into the low 20's

I want opinions and experience. For my goals, stated above...what would be the loudest at sub 30hz.

    2 12's at 27 on 1500~2000

    3 12's sealed on a 2000wrms amp at 1.6667

    4 12's sealed on 2000wrms

    OR 3 12's ported at 27 @ 1.6667 like above.

I know the obvious answer is the last one but consider that one last because the box would be much more expensive. Look at the top three options first.

  4. 600 degree Farenhelt? Damn hyppppppe it up aint they?

And I love to see 6k RMS on that sub for 5 minutes.

I don't understand why the in hell companies want to throw out these high power handling ratings, when knowing noobs will kill them with half the power.

Thing about it, says available in 15" and 18", but sub in the picture is a 12" or maybe even a 10". I guess they want to give a illusion there magnet is better than it actually is.

Hell really, that sub looks a lot like a RE MT.

Holy shit haterism Batman. Just because you don't know anything about a company and their prices are high doesn't mean their product is absolute shit. Calm down. Looks mean nothing.

EDIT: There's this thing called MARKETING? Ever heard of it? It's why SSA Gave out prototype Zcons, why Jacob makes posts about proto stuff on his forum. So does Fi hype up stuff because they don't give dates? Has SSA hyped up the Zcon? I don't know a damn thing about this company and it doesn't look like you do either so until you know something or have used something don't hate. You ever played with a Zcon or an N2? I'm willing to bet no but you still recommend them...dumbass.

  5. How much polyfill?

I have no clue. I tried to keep it fluffy and not stuff it in there. I also gave the pole vent like a crater to breathe I guess? I used double sided tape and stuck it on the walls of the box. It'll probably melt now that I think about it but oh well.

EDIT: It sorta made it more manly I guess. It's one of those things you have to try. Some people will be like "fuck yeah more deep bass" and some will say "it didn't do shit." I'm in between.

The rule is 1 lb./cubic foot, any more than that and it may have adverse effects.

Yeah I know but I had no way of measuring it. I bought a giant bag so I couldn't like use half for one sub and use half for the other if you know what I mean.

  7. So I did it about 3 hours ago and...meh. I A-B tested it with one poly'd and one empty and it didn't sound much different. Just a little "warmer" and "more full" on some notes. I did both and have been playing it since and...idk. It's loud and vibratey but I'm not sure if it's louder and more vibratey than before. If you did a blind test it'd be straight up guessing though, I can say that with certainty.

For reference, I gotz 2 Sundown SA-12's in 1 cube each before displacement on a RF P500-2 (about 350wrms per channel @ 2ohms)

  8. Ok Thanks! u sound like you really know what you're talking about! So if you don't mind me asking, what do u think about lanzar amps. I was looking at the Lanzar OPTI2000D and it appears to be a solid amp but agiain, i don't know anything about the brand.

Opti series is quality stuff. Go to Vminnovations and check out more of the Opti series. The component sets sound pretty decent and I think an all Opti setup would be dope.

  9. Well I mean I don't want to be like $400 or $500 on an amp. There are a lot of cheap amps from companies like lanzar, crunch, power acoustik, absolute, spl, autotek. I hear about people advising against hifonics amps. Yes I want to save money but I don't want to have to buy a better amp for the same sub later on down the road. The point of the post was mainly to get opinions on amplifiers from RE & mb quart.

VLX! I saw the bigger one...a 2DE or whatever on 2 SE-X's and it was loud so...lol yeah.

  10. Have you ever heard of planet audio? Because they have a 5000w amp thats pretty reasonable but i don't know if its any good.

Planet Audio is in the same boat as Power Acoustik unfortunately. Both companies terribly overrate their amps. I'd rather go for a Hifonics or Audiopipe or MB Quart or even a Soundstream before those two.

For clarification!!! Power A and Planet A amps don't put out the power they say they do. Power A amps are also known to not last long. Don't know about Planet A. Planet A suffers from super line confusion. What I mean by that is some lines are absolute crap while some are diamonds in the rough. I wouldn't want to take the risk though.

  11. Ive spent a lot of time looking for an amp for the FI BL 15 that's on its way to my house. I don't want to spend much over $300 for an amp so do you guys know any good amps for about $300 or less? I was kinda looking at the Power Acoustik BAMF5500/1D but i really dont know how good of an amp it is.

Well...Power Acoustik as a whole is not the best brand. If you're strapped for cash check out Audiopipe. Their 1000 watt amp can be had for under 140 and the 1500 for under 160. Good solid budget amps.

  12. I ordered (2) SA-10 D4's And a Crescendo BC2000D And A few Shuriken BT-80's, and Some Kicker 0Gauge wire. I NEED A T-line Design For (2) SA-10's please.

Or A 4th Order, ORRR A 26Hz Tuning With LOTS of port area Near full potential.

Your woofers will blow with 2000 watts at 26hz with lots of port. Unless you plan to have the gain on the amp mostly to the left you need bigger speakers for what you're trying to do. Yeah it's 90% install and 10% equipment, but...sa-10's don't do that. Sorry.

  13. Personally I would just go buy a bag and stuff some in the enclosure and give a listen. Then you'll have your answer whether it sounds better to you or not. Stuff is cheap and would only take a few minutes to install.

I used it for my very first sealed enclosure, upon adding it, I thought it sounded a little better, but it also could of been psychoacoustics at play :P

Better as in sq or spl?

  14. Looked around and got a bunch of mixed answers but I'll regurgitate what I have.

    1. It fools the speaker into thinking the box is bigger than it is.

    2. It makes the interior of the enclosure hotter.

    3. When used in ported boxes it slightly lowers tuning.

    On to my questions/possible misconceptions.

    1. Does that mean the speaker is louder?...Or does it play lower or what? I'm confuzzled.

    2. Does that lower the thermal power handling of the speaker by hindering it's cooling capabilities?

    3. My box is sealed sooooo...nvm

And before anyone tells me not to mess around with it, my box is sealed and too small (I forgot to account for sub displacement) and plus I'm running about half of rated power (which means I can have a box that's bigger than recommended without hurting anything). I don't have the time, tools, money, or training to make a bigger box and when I invert I worry about two things, Getting robbed due to the hugeassness of the subs magnet and it sounds like crap. (I reversed the polarity and everything...) Soooo...somebody explain to me CLEARLY what the hell polyfill does.

  15. cooool. you should try a hair trick. If you can, then i'm definitely buying a pair of xcons! :morepower1:

You shouldn't base your sub selection on somebody else's videos ;) So many variables will be different in your setup than mine.

If all you want is a system to do hair tricks then xcon's are more money than what you need to spend. The SA series from Sundown is a proven ground pounder and cost approx half of what xcon's do. Two sa-12's, 3k and an 8" port should be a good start ;)

Two sa-12's on 3000 watts tuned low?

I can see the "what happened to my subs" thread already....

  16. You guys do realize that these types of subs are nothing more than marketing ploys. They didn't make the sub for SPL comps or to get loud. It's simply to attract attention. As for the Jackhammer, that's a totally different animal. It actually performs okay for what it is. If it was 1/4 of what it costs, you would see them quite often.

Same idea as any extreme concept car that'll never sell. How many Pontiac guys bought Trans-Am's and Firebirds when they saw the Banshee?(If anybody remembers that...I'm a Pontiac-head lol)

MY first glimpse of that car was the Detroit auto show. I was 8 or 9 at the time. Then it was on a NightRider TV movie as a new K.I.T.T. When you look at the thing, a lot of people bought them. IIRC, 75% of the car was part of the 4th gen F-body, including the nose on the 'Birds and the swooping quarters. Of course I don't know how many actually saw the concept car.

Yes sir, the nose, windshield, wing, almost everything. You're very lucky to have seen one in person...it was my favorite Hot Wheels car though!!!
