LOL, me too! It's going to be a while. Next I need to pull everything out of the hatch clean and sound deaden, then I can start on placement. I got 4 days off thuis week so i got some time to work on things.

OEM stereo -> Audiocontrol EQL -> Soundqubed Q1.750 -> Rockford PPS4-6 and Morel MDT-12 & Soundqubed Q1-750 -> Sundown SA-12D2 Quick snap. Box is big and awkward. Its turns up around 2ft3 after sub and port displacment. The box nex to it is for a 2nd battery (XS D3100, I know that is too big for the little amp, but got that battery when I had a SQ Q1-2200). Sad thing is I need a 2nd battery even for that 750w amp. Maybe I should buy a smaller battery. But it;s easy to build a new box,. So i'll see how this all works out in the next couple weeks.

Please ignore the big ass rats nest of wires, this will all change. I was seeing how this old amp rack I made fit on top the box. I will end up with a new rack that mounts on top of the box with 3/4" space between for wires/etc. I will have a trim piece that covers and will all remove to show the amps. Second battery will be in the spare tire well along with all power/ground/relay/anything power related. EQ/DSP will go on a flase floor on the driver side of the hatch. Got lots to do, but so far it sounds pretty good and however this happened, I like it better then the DC18 on the SQ 2200w amp.

Little more progress today. Ports all built just sitting in the box, Too damn hot in the garage to finish today.

Ok, finally started over today. Box is cut, just needs to get 45's put in, port cut out/rounded, speaker opening cut, and glued/nailed. We built ther box on ther bigger side (2.52ft3 @ 29hz). We will loose some space due to th 45's and some bracing,. Should be in the car Friday for testing. Need to see if the SQ 750w amp does it or of I need to get the SQ1200w. Gear list as it sits. Man, I've been putting this off for a while. Going to try to get started on this either this or next weekend. I need to finish before it gets too damn hot here in CenTex.. Much easier to do work now with my new schedule. 3 days off one week, 4 the next.

Got my SA-12 back in October and finally getting around to a box build. Fired up Torres. Single SA-12 on a SQ 750w. Look good to go? Or any thing I need to change? =Going in Volvo V50 wagon, sub/port firing towards hatch.

It does. I did the whole huge box thing with a DC AL4 18 and had no hatch left, but that was all too much for me. I was also based my box build off of what Sundown had spec'ed out for the SA-12 baised off their Sketchup model.

I guess I'm missing something. 85in2 seems way to high. Plugging that info into Torres, I would need a 14.4x5.5 or so port. Then I/'d need to make the box bigger to get the box size that Sundown recommends. The measurements in one of my first posts is pretty much the max I am giving for a box. I still have to have a somewhat usable hatch.

I'm still playing with the software. no clue what im doing after I open a project.

Mine errors out when i try to enter a box volume. Thd only input it will take as a good value is if I leve it blank, I use the ProAlpha version currently. It still pops up error on startup and closing, and requires task manager to close, but works fine.

Yes, and I get illegal operation errors after my data is entered correctly. Never got it to run good on my pc's.

Well, even though I say I will upgrade amps, I edo have other things that come first, so that upgrade just depends. This would also be the 3rd sub amp buy in 8 months. Buying and selling is getting a little old now.

What should I be shooting for there?

Ok, got it right this time. or slightly larger I will be adding some bracing inside, aloing with 45's in the port. Not sure on the baffle, if I add a 2nd, it will be on the outside of the box. Box will be birch, since I alredy have the sheet. Should I am for close to 2ft3 or is anywhere between their 1.5ft3-2ft3 good? Might be wanting to say I will upgrade that SQ Q1.750 to a Q1.1200 next month.

I always mess up something when I do this. I got my hatch false floor done today. I'll post a correct box calc in around 5 days when I have a chance to get some good measurements.

I keep hearing mixed feelings on sub back/port up. I also had some number typos in the calc I had posted at first. \

I built my port before i did any round over, so for the internal L i was going to belt sand, but the inside and outside ports I can use the router. So maybe I'll be done with the box tomorrow.

How much round over do I need to do on the 90's inside a port?

Slow going. Ports still need to be rounded over (port is not attached to box at this time. Might do some more work today after i get off work. Either try to finish the box or get the amp rack in place and locked down and mount amps and such on it.

I'm really not a fan of how tall the box is. But it's the only way to be able to get the sub to clear the amp rack. My original idea was to fire sub up and port back, which would make for a wider shorter box. I should prob sell that D3100 local and get a smaller XS power battery if need be.

In my old 96 Formula I ran Morel 8" and Morel MDT 12 tweeters I didn't have to butcher anything, My stock tweeter location was on the door above where the stock 6.5" was. Just had to make a bigger trim ring for the 8". I still run MDT 12's to this day,. I love em.

Trying to figure out what to cover the amp rack and box with. I've normally just done carpet that was the closet match for the area the install is in. Trying to decide if I want t do something else now. I did a couple installs in the past where I used formica on the amp rack and trim pieces with carpet and I liked the look. Used to be able to pick up smaller sized pieces at Home Depot, but seems only full sheet now. Can't do vinyl, tried in the past and it just doesn't work well for me. Since all my trim will be black, I was thinking maybe white formica on the amp rack and maybe do the same on the top of the box, then make a carpeted trim pice that is cut bigger then the sub mounting area to show off some of the white formica. Kind of sucks to get a full sheet to do that when I need so little. Any other ideas? I debated painting, but not really sure. I kind of don't want the install to stand out. Thats how I did my last quickie install in 2012. I had a piece that covered the amps. All looked stealthy.. Might just do it again.
