Tell me about it. I feel like I'm in the freaking rain forest here. We've had about a 10 year drought and now it rains every damn day. Geez.

    Thinking about a Magnum...

First off, welcome to the Forum!! As far as power is concerned, I have had great results with my 15" Magnum and 300 watts. Now if I were you, I'd keep the 1.2K play with the volume/bass knobs. Plenty of headroom and more power if you ever need it. You already have the amp, so wahy change it. Keeping it leaves options for future upgrades or just more power. Nick's enclosure specs are pretty much dead on for all around good sound. Of course I'm a fan of the no enclosure theory. B) What kind of sound are you looking for and what vehicle?

    magnum enclosure

Well, a height and length would be good. I have no idea what the dims on the jeep are. Also, you want slotted or round ports, and how do you want the drivers/port(s) configured?

    Z frame

Well, I was able to get a little more framework on the Z done today. Here's some pics. The PLs in the door. And I bet you think this is just an ashtray...... Well, lift it up and the little microswitch opens and POOF, no more subbass. Flip it down again, and the MAGNUM will breathe fire! Also had to work on an enclosure for some, BAH, JLs. A trio of 10W6s in 3 cubes @32Hz. Doesn't sound too shabby.

you guys are gonna hate me!

You know, the reason everyone hates these threads is because it is IMPOSSIBLE to say. Each driver will react differently to each specific application. What may work well for the Magnum, may not work well for the DD, and vice versa. each driver/enclosure will react differently in a given environment. Not many people on here have experience with DD as far as I know. I have read a little on Termpro about the 3500s, and it's about half and half as far as performance is concerned. Now as far as the Magnum is concerned, I still to this day have yet to hear anyone say 1 bad thing about it. It will sound good, and will easily get loud. It's a steal for the price, and Nick and all the guys at SI are awesome to deal with. That right there is a major selling point for me, but who am I? The DD is a relatively new driver and for some more opinions on that, I would look to Termpro. Then you could give us some more specifics and we could possibly be a little more helpful. Whichever you choose, make sure you post some pics and your thoughts! Hope that helps. :thud:

    Questions about a sealed box

Build the larger enclosure if you can. Then you can take up volume inside the enclosure if you would like to decrease it some, or vice versa later on. You'll be happy no matter what. And of course, you must post pics upon completion.

    Define Loudness

The sealed 15 and vented 12 should be similar in output. You may get a tiny bit more low end out of the vented enclosure, but it's really enclosure/tuning/vehicle dependent. Remember, a sealed enclosure will ALWAYS play lower than a vented one. There comes a poitn where the driver will unload below tuning and throw the lowend, and possibly the driver out the window. I have had the pleasure to listen to my 15" MAG in a 3.2 sealed and 4.2 vented enclosure and have had nothing but excellent results. Playtime was limited, but I loved what I heard. As for the upper part of the spectrum, I cannot say. I never use my subbass above 60Hz, so I have never even attempted it. Sealed, I'm sure it will be fine, but with the vented enclosure, upper response will be more dependent on your vehicle's transfer function and driver placement.

Sweet! Needs a different front gasket though. One piece would look cleaner. Can't wait to get my hands on them. Have you it in an enclosure yet?

    PICS!
  21. You are correct. I was just about to mention the extra cable as well. $200 not worht it to me. Plus you save some space and install issues using 1 vs 2, and less signal loss.

    Amp setttins

I'd start your lowpass at 80 and you can play around with it from there. Should be a good base point for you. You may find out you will like it with a lower setting though, seeing as how you are getting some decent midbass. As for the gain, set it on the 2 volt mark since you know your HU is 2V. After that, you should be all set. B)

    Amp setttins

What other stuff are you running? SS, I would set at 25 or right at tuning. As for the boost, leave it at 0. Gain will be dependant on what piece is before it and whatever voltage it is putting out. Lowpass will vary depending on what your other equipment is crossed at. I never play my subbass above 60, but others go 80 and above. Give us a list of all you have and we can help better.
