    Two 12" SA-12's ported

Why? Why does it need rated power plus 400watts per driver? No such thing as under powering being a bad thing. Consider the drivers being overkill for the amp, and not the drivers being under powered... I should have worded that differently, I know it doesn't need that much. I ran a single SA-12 off 400w & it got loud enough for my liking. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in, but here's my .02 .............. A single SA-12 with 1,000w & a proper size ported box would be louder & more effecient than two SA-12's with 500w each & restraints on box size. And with one you don't have to run it at exactly 1,000w, the gain can be cut down some & leave plenty of headroom. With a pair of SA-12's you're really gonna be pushing a SAZ-1000. Plus, it's gonna be $200 cheaper. You’re doubling motor force and cone area. Theoretically it should be louder than 1 12" on 1K watts. Plus he could always add another SAZ-1000D and strap them to the pair or upgrade to either a SAZ-2500D or bigger. I agree, but the OP stated that trunk space was limited(1-1.5cu per sub). Correct me if I'm wrong, but that sounds a little small for ported SA-12's. If he isn't gonna have enough room to build an optimum enclosure for 2 then I'd try a single setup. He can always add a 2nd sub later.
  2. Is that the only amplifier you're gonna be running? If you're running multiple amplifiers I'd run 1/0 gauge from the battery to a distrobution block (as close to the amp as possible) & then 4g from the distro to the amp. & if you're just running the one amp you can still do it that way, leaves room for future upgrades & a short 1-2ft run of 4g can handle the 1600w. ---Jacob
  3. Wow. That's crazy cheap for RCA's if they're decent...... What would you compare them to as far as quality?

Dayton is one of the best values out there imo.
  10. Agreed. A lot of old school SQ amplifiers only accept up to 1.2v-1.5v anyway.

    40.1

Well worth the money, very solid amplifier.

need a little bit of help

As long as the mounting brackets line up & both engine use similar belt routing I don't see why not. If you have a picture of your engine/alternator it would help.

Not sure if you saw the thread on DIYMA about the new Alpine Type-R's, but there was an Alpine engineer on there discussing them and I must say I was pretty impressed. They actually took some time to re-engineer them and did some important things like focusing on linearizing BL, etc. There was more info in there about the normal R's than the Slim's from what I recall, but if they put the same focus into the Slim line them I wouldn't be surprised if they were solid drivers as well. link?

You should buy three in spite of the above post. So how's that Sundown Audio SA-12 d2 I sold you off of CA.com a while back doing? I don't know I never powered it Inspected it, everything looked good then it sat in the box for about a month and I sold it locally. Plans changed so I didn't need it. Funny thing is, when I first got into car audio it was THE driver I wanted... It was nice however to hold one in person, looked well built. Me either. I picked it up from Jacob @ Sundown & it sat in my closet for a month. Hopefully it's finally found a good permanant home. lol I too was very impressed with the build quality, but once I bought it I knew it was more than what I needed. Went with a pair of Dcon's instead.

A bit off-topic, but I'd suggest wet sanding your tail lights & clear coating them. Nightshades?
