    Neo SSDs

We circ interp most of the holes then with a final singular cleaning/sizing pass. But for these with the pole in the way, I have modified a tool holder that uses ground/modded SNM style bits to hit both sides at once. Seems to work well so far, but I worry about ridigity issues with the modded tool holder. What I think I will end up doing is a trepan of sorts and make a 90degree section of a circle with the cutter out at the end. Would be about as rigid a tool holder as you could make considering it follows the shape of the cut it is making around a full 90. I could mod it further to hold 4 or 6 bits in a full circle and have just a giant indexible hole saw that cuts outside pole and inside rebate at the same time... with 20HP on the lathe bad can happen quick with wimpy tools. I appreciate the info and offer for code programs. We use a couple of them, but for the most part write by hand. If I dont understand it ALL I probably shouldnt be doing it Some of them like to do some odd things at times. Thanks, Scott

    Btl n3, and NSG availability

N3 is up now. NSG in 3-4 weeks. Thanks, Scott

    Finally came in

Things have really ramped up with more fixtures to do more parts at once. We are at about 7 days right now... and hoping to hold that, although we wont change the dates on the site until we can consistently do so. Thanks, Scott

    Neo SSDs

Trying HARD to keep pricing the same. Lighter, more cooling options... just a progression of the line. Ill get some pics up in a week or two. Trying to figure faster ways of making them then the protos. Machining the deep and narrow pocket is a little less than fun at the speed we want to. Looking at making a 6 insert full circle carbide cutter that will mount to our spade mount (for drilling the 3.25" holes in the N series top plates). Should make short work of things, but will take a fair amount of time to make. Give me about 2 weeks and Ill have pics to post. Thanks, Scott

    N3?

Finishing up coding for them. Be up in about 30 minutes. Not too pricey when you compare them to others for their intended use. They are designed for SPL use.... but I'm sure people will use them otherwise. Fair amount more motor force. TS params are based off of a 7 spider suspension too. Cooling for these (for death match or the like) consists of the heli-cool system with the addition of an aluminum sleeve for thermal dissipation, inductance, and increased cooling compression. Thanks, Scott

    Fi IB3-18

HT category... and using Neo magnets as well. Similar pricing and specs. Just bringing all steel home and phasing out older designs. Thanks, Scott

    Fi's Manufacturing line pictures?

Break room? We are not that kind of company...lol Really people think we are bigger/cooler than we are. No show room, nothing fancy, just 6 shops (4 in a row and 2 in separate buildings... as we are slowly taking over this whole block of buildings). We have one with the 2 main offices in front and the machine shop in back. 10 lbs of beans in a 5lb sack with machines in that one. But the way the cells/machines are set up it works great. Next door is the test room and another room for clothing. Behind that in the warehouse is a room for screening shirts/stickers... then mezzanine for storage. Next building is build shop and coil/spider storage. Next shop is wood in back and sealed off up front for motor assembly. Other two outlaying shops are storage for parts and half of the other being the "toy" shop for projects rarely relating to car audio. As mentioned above, we have quite a bit of proprietary info going on at any given time and dont allow most people in period. Should you show up depending on what we are doing you might get a tour of all shops or none We simply build all day, nothing glamorous or cool... But having this sort of mentality keeps the overhead and driver costs low and helps us forge a solid path through all the equally priced Chinese made stuff. Thanks, Scott

    Dust cap?

You are right, we are about options, but... we are about options that make a functional difference. I can't see offering things that dont "do" something for the performance of the sub at a cost to the customers. A carbon fiber dustcap is only marginally lighter than our current dustcap and costs several times more. Something that would be passed on. I have had samples of them for quite some time, but at the cost difference I never felt they were worth doing. Not too mention that the forced cooling we do is very tough on dustcaps. The full dished ones simply do not hold up to the pressure. In a full redesign of things we could make it work, but I don't feel its of enough benefit to warrant it. Also, we do try to differentiate the two brands and offering a similar "look" only blurs the lines more... Thanks, Scott

    When will IB3s be available?

Your gonna hate me when they move to BP too... Oh I see it coming Just a product of moving all steel production to US. Thanks, Scott

Help with the FI Q 12

Do not get the extra spider for sealed or SQ apps. Only for higher power daily ported applications where people need a little more durability. 1 cuft after driver works well (around 1.2 cuft). After break in it smooths out and the low end becomes more pronounced as well. You can always tweak things a little with some poly fill (up to 1 lbs per cuft of enclosure) loosely fluffed. Thanks, Scott

    Yeah thats right.

Ill get them on there... need to take an artsy pic of one (sorry Denim not using your shot ) Thanks, Scott

Is this a FI sponsored rock climber??

Make that 6. I have a ZJ on 35s with long arms 44s arent a bad way to go considering the R/P isnt too weak and you can stuff 60 axles in them. Jason Bunch (Tri County Gear) has done well over the years with 44s (and 60 guts) and even HP30s up front (with 44 guts) . Cant remember him blowing out R/P in comps. I have Rockwells (3 of them from the factory) under my other dirt rig Not a fan of mud unless its in the way of getting to where we want to go. Otherwise I avoid it. With plenty of redrock in my "back yard" I have no reason to search for mud.

    Yeah thats right.

I am lame... I have had belts for close to 2 years and havent popped them up on the site. Its been more of a freebie hookup thing than a product. I just ordered another 100 of them as we were about out and Ill actually get them up on the site. Thanks, Scott

    BTL-N1 pics

Here are a couple of pics of the N1 motor. Little odd looking compared to most designs, but form followed function. This is rather close to final version, except that material for top and bottom plates is a little thicker (for future profiling) and I wasn't paying enough attention when I wrote the code and wrapped the chamfer all the way around when it doesn't need to be where the spacers/end caps mate.

4" Coiled BL option now on site

We have added the 4" coil option to the BL Series. It bumps the power handling up from 1000W to 1500W. You can still order the cooling and other features to further enhance the subs as well. Extra $50 for a 4" coiled monster... Thanks, Scott

trouble w/ not having a variable subsonic filter

We like to see higher order filters than 12dB, but can work with that if you are tuned 2-4 Hz above its cut off. Playing below tuning the box unloads and allows the speaker to flop out of phase, with no control, and with little output given the extreme excursion. We are working on a solution for all the don't have adjustable filters Thanks, Scott

Recone ordered but no info. of it?

Coil has been pulled for the order and it will get going tomorrow. Possibly ship on Thurs depending on how BTL-N2s are going and who is waiting for who to get a process on the parts for the N2s done to keep rolling. In the spaces between, we do the random stuff Thanks, Scott

    Btl update

We are trying to get all BTL N2 orders up until the 17th of Dec (possibly even later) shipped by Friday of this week. Thanks, Scott

    BTL-N2 pics

This is the standard replacement for the Gen1 and Gen2 BTLs. It has similar power handling and options. The heatsink/inductance ring which was an option on the Gen2 is now integral to the design. We spent quite a bit of time testing the sinking and cooling to ensure that the Neo magnets used would not suffer degradation due to heatsoak (a problem which plagues other designs). Form followed function with the motor and is why these new versions are a fairly radical departure from the last designs. Weight loss is significant compared to the 11.25" diameter magnets used in the Gen2 motors. More info to come both on the site and here. We are trying to get pics for the N1 and N2 drivers up on the site over the weekend to start selling on Monday morning. There will be an initial approx 4 week lead time for the N1 and N2 subs due to some raw materials not arriving for another 3 weeks. But if these sell even remotely close to the Gen2 BTLs we expect a healthy list of early adopters.

Black FiDay sale up a little early...

I had time to get things rolling, so the old style Xs are back up in D4 coil and 10" and 12" sizes. 10" D4 $65 ea 12" D4 $75 ea Starting with a cast aluminum basket for a rigid foundation, it uses a double stack motor with a 2” copper voice coil wound on a black anodized aluminum former. A poly cotton spider and curvilinear cone with multilayered foam surround keep things controlled under the toughest of conditions. Far from entry level, the Old School X Series provides deep, detailed, and powerful bass from both sealed and ported enclosures. 250W RMS and 16mm Xmax. Great subs in smaller systems or monsters in multiples for cheap Discounts of $5 per sub on orders of 2-3 drivers and $10 per sub on orders of 4 or more. Not sure how long this will stay active... so buy now! Happy Thanksgiving from all at Fi!

4" coil option for BL Series

Edit: The option is up on the site. It is an extra $50 to go to the 4" coil. Brings RMS power handling up to 1500W per sub. We were sitting on this one until after the new year, but have decided to release it now given the amount of inquiries we have had regarding 4" coiled subs. We will be adding a 4" coil option to the BL Series by the end of the week. This allows for more thermal capacity over the standard 3" coil. Spec wise it does change things some, but enclosure recommendations will remain the same. In testing (about 9 months back and again last week) we saw some solid gains in the mid band with similar output near tuning to the 3" coiled version. The midband gain (even though the coil is heavier and there is a reduction in 1W/1m rating) is due to the overall TS parameter balance. We were happy enough back then to order up materials to get things rolling, but decided to wait until after the BTL-N series changes. Now that the N Series is underway and we thought we would drop this one too. More info and some pics ASAP. Thanks, Scott

4" coil option for BL Series

Early next week I'll get some up. Last thing on my mind right now considering the BTL-N series and CNC issues....lol Thanks, Scott

    Btl update

Looking like we should be rolling at a better pace come Monday. We hope to have all orders filled and out before the end of next week. Looks like we have some of the molding issues sorted and will have a different batch of material in on Monday to work with. I appreciate everyones patience with us getting things sorted. Murphy's Law in full effect with mold issues and CNCs being down. Thanks, Scott

    15" BL Fully Loaded Help

Just added the 4" coil option to the 12", 15", and 18" BLs. This bumps standard power handling up to the 1500W range. Addition of cooling and flatwind will push things further to around 2000W. Thanks, Scott
