    question for dealers

Has anyone been able to get in contact with ANYONE at AA.. I've called (phone goes to VM) emailed everyday for the past 4 days, been emailing for over 2 weeks.. and have gotten no luck in contacting AA.. I ordered recones for a customer and paid over 3 weeks ago also a sub I received with a damaged basket that rendered the sub unplayable un-mountable unusable, I opted for them to send a basket and recone over 3 weeks ago and haven't heard from them since sept 17th 2012 where i was told it was going out the next day, I know it doesn't take 3 weeks to get here.... Normally i wouldn't be so worried but the 15" mayhem took almost 2 months to get here broken and now it's taking another month to get a replacement basket and recone and my customer has questions and i have no answers other than "I'll get back to you" for the past 2 weeks.... please for all the people who are gonna come here and make post about they are busy, i ain't the only dealer blah blah blah... I have not once in my thread asked for the items.. RATHER i am asking just for communication from them, where is the items, when can i expect them, what is the hold up. that's all...

    question for dealers

from my original post I've called phone goes to VM (I have tried the AA dealer hotline that we dealers have AND FI car Audio's number for scott) emailed everyday for the past 4 days, been emailing for over 2 weeks.. (I have emailed dealer/Sales/Orders/recone/scott/shawn) going on 5 days STRAIGHT and no reply. I even had a fellow dealer who was in VEGAS last week try to call 3 days in a row cause he wanted to see the facility and he couldn't get a hold of anyone his entire trip (I was going to ask him if he could inquire about the order i had).. is there any other method of contact i haven't tried (short of visiting the facility which would be hard as i am in Hawaii and they are in the process of a move) I know they are busy, I'm not asking for the recones to be made right this instant nor did i expect it to be ready in a week but over 3 weeks AND NO COMMUNICATION All i need to know is IF they are busy what is the time frame they believe it will be shipped (this month, next month etc) or are they waiting on a part, did they forget about my order, was there an issue with my payment, is there an issue with shipping, was it shipped and it might be lost etc etc... It's hard to keep telling a customer when they ask "he any word on that recone i ordered about a month ago" and i have to keep replying "they are busy, I'll get back to you" for 2 weeks straight...

    2 12 ssd or 2 12 jl audo w6

Although we still don't know the goals of the OP... I'd like to ask why is he putting an SSD up against a W6 ? Personally I've played with hundreds of W6 in ALL kinds of enclosures. It would be a better comparison to Fi Q series.... Just my 2 cents

    Fi users input please

hey all I was wondering in your installs with Fi subs 1. What gauge speaker wire do you use for the subs ? 2. What gauge power wire for the amps powering the subs...?? 3. how many watts going to you subs (per sub) I am in the process of finalizing my system and was going to do a look over all my wires.... thank you all i appreciate it Cliff
  7. The Hawaii Car Audio community just found out today that the state is trying to pass a law that will make it ILLEGAL to "install, posses, or operate" any aftermarket system including any subwoofers, any speakers exceeding 6.5", any speaker exceeding 100 watts, etc. The bill can be found here: http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/session2011/bills/HB1178_.pdf Most of us are just hearing about this today, and the hearing on the bill is Wednesday, Feburary 9th (yes just 2 days from today). We're trying to get as many people as possible to go down to the hearing on Wednesday (I'll be there), but we're also trying to get as many people as possible to submit testimony opposing this bill. I'm asking all members of the car audio community to help us fight this bill. Here is where you can submit testimony online: http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/emailtestimony/ The bill is HB1178, put that in the first box and enter the rest of the information. This bill is not only going to affect us bass heads down here, but the shops that install this equipment will go out of business. On top of that, all of the retailers that are partners with this site as well as those who aren't will not be able to sell their products to anybody who lives here. Please help us out, it should only take a couple of minutes. Oh and I'm not sure if there is a specific section that this should go into, I just put it in off-topic so it wouldn't be in the wrong section persay. If the mods want to move this to a more appropriate section that would be awesome. CAN YOU EFFIN BELIEVE THIS SHIT !!! THEY ARE ALSO SAYING THAT THIS RULING WILL SET PRECEDENCE AND OPEN THE DOOR FOR OTHER STATES TO INTRODUCE THIS BILL PLEASE I ASK ALL MEMBERS TO JUST CLICK ON THE LINK FILL IN THE BLANKS AND HIT OPPOSE
  8. I just got a call from one of the public defenders (who alerted us of this bill being passed from right under the publics nose) that other states are keeping a close eye on this bill... If it passes in Hawaii it will be adopted and the case ruling will be used to get it passed in their state... The defender who is helping us had 3 cars done with sounds here LOL

    2 SSD 12

Chris has set the bar so my turn Vehicle info - Vehicle - Scion tC hatchback 2007 - Power - Stock Battery, Stock 100 amp Alt, Optima yellow top 34/78 In the rear System info - Sub woofers - 2x Fi 12" SSD D2 with copper coil option - Amps - 2x US Amps MD.1D (RMS 1,000 watts avg. @ 13.6 V each sub @ 1ohm) ~Also tested with 2 soundstream rubicon 502 amps (RMS 500 watts avg. @ 14.4 v @ 4ohm) Enclosure info - Enclosure - Currently 1.05 cubic feet per sub (after all displacement) Also Sealed enclosures used were 1.2 per sub and a ported 2.0 @ 33hz sloted - Sub placement - Facing UP in the rear hatch Also tried facing REAR of hatch Comparison info - Subs I have used extensively - JL w6, Kicker Comps CVS/CVX, Infinity 12, JBL 12 Songs used: - Daily driving (i tested for daily driving since that is what my system is geared to do) - Showstoppers - Danity Kane, Airforce - Young Jeezy, Mariah Carey - Hero the Review First off, normal reviews just dive right into the subs "sound" or "performance" but, like Chris's review found @ Fi Q 12 Reviewed, I need to comment on the "buying" portion of the experience... After all it all ties into to total "EXPERIENCE" of the sub... Pre-buying - First of all, Scott is the most patient man in car audio sales... gee i must've sent him 4 or 5 emails about the sub, some questions asked time and time again and the guy just kept answering them in such a professional yet friendly manner (like if he lived next door to me or something). already i'm feeling confident about getting this sub. Purchase made - yupp went ahead and did it.... The tracking info was emailed to me with-in 24 hours with estimated date arrival (i'm sure this is a case by case basis). impressed and at ease knowing i can track my subs online... Arrival - WOW they were packed so good, I was shocked at the care and attention to detail just the packing was done in. I felt confident already. (yes i saved the boxes in case i need to send them back for a recone or anything else that may come up ~ I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS). Subs were beautiful REVIEW... Sub woofer Build this sub was built with utmost care and attention to detail... I have only "heard" (Rather READ) other people say these subs were excellently built.... but there is nothing like seeing it for yourself.. 500 Watt Review 500 watts per sub review NO electrical upgrades made- So me and my buddies (all installers) decided to make 2 boxes. 2 sealed (1.2cuft & 1.0cuft) and 1 ported (see above). We drop them in and hook them up to 2 rubicon 502 (500 Watts bridged for each sub, UNDER the subs RMS value of 800). We tried all sub enclosures and to the EAR, the sealed 1.0 sounded the richest and deepest. Holy mother of god they sounded so damn loud. I couldn't believe what i heard and felt... With only 500 watts these thing pounded. you can feel your throat tickle and a little discomfort in your inner ear. I couldn't believe it. Cons - For my enclosure and power the upper end 60hz - 100hz were played slightly softer than my previous subs. It wasn't as loud as the lower half and seemed as if someone turned my gains down. Still pretty accurate at the Higher frequencies.. Pros - The low end was utterly amazing with this sub and enclosure. 35-55 Hz were loud and very accurate. Not just BOOM but BOOOOOOOM low end dragging shake your booty bass.... LOUD and very evident that this sub loves to accentuate the low end of the scale... Now in comes the big guns. I didn't expect it to sound so good and the problem that this caused was i felt the freaking need to feed these things RMS. If they sounded this good a 500 watts (well more like 400 since my electrical wasn't upgraded and voltage would drop to 11.8 - 12V at times) I went ahead and ordered the 2 1K watt amps (hey nick knows, Overhead isn't a BAD thing when played safely, cleaner signal since gains can be set lower). 1000 Watt per sub review - Battery in the back for sub amps.. does Fi know their subs or do they know their subs. all the people who ask "what should i make the box" "How much power" should really take into account the companies recommendations found on the site, cause what i thought was loud and low at 500 watts was NOTHING in comparison to 1000 watts. Jesus christ what a dramatic change. the sub was just so bad ass. the lows were just so clear and much louder, the subs seemed to be in so much more control of its extension accuracy at this level.. I never thought that such a dramatic change could occur by feeding this thing it's recommended power. Not only did i hear a distinct improvement in everything from accuracy to sound but even the higher end frequencies seemd to come more "alive".... though still softer then the targeted 35-55 hz, the sub played the higher end with BETTER control with this wattage... It didn't sound like it was struggling to play the note anymore but rather played it effortlessly... Physical altercations, vibrating the throat and ear, hair moves, clothes move, with the windows up VERY uncomfortable pressure in the ear. Chest pounding... Just AWSOME.. Cons - Man i wish i could feed this thing more power. but that is not a performance issue. though i do wish that the flatwind coil AND copper coil could be incorporated together... Pros - Unbelievable loudness and low end with this sub, Able to shine in ported AND sealed enclosures. Exhibits good control and accuracy even at high excursion. Best of all, I didn't have to sell ANY of my kids to get a pair !! Any questions let me know Coming up A big ALOHA goes out to Scott AKA Fi Car audio (I'm gonna break your patience one day LOL), Nick AKA NDMstang65 (i swear i go to you for everything LOL) and Shawn Flemming for just trolling these forums and helping everyone out...... Full review of the Ported enclosure with the new amps WOOT WOOT
  10. Battery is worthless unless you got something that can charge it up as efficiently and effectively as the system can draw from it. I'd do the alt first.

    What's in the works?

Man i hope that "idea" that's getting kicked around is what i heard about a while back.... I got plans for the wifes car and a "X" rms type sub with a good bit of sQ mix would fit the bill ohhhh so good.... Dunno though.. might not need after the new SSD's get released... Can't wait for the new CNC machine to start spitting out key chains
  14. BP option is a cooling option.. Basically it adds a machined aluminum compression plug to the pole which helps channel the air from under the dustcap around the coil for better cooling. generally speaking there will be an increase in power handling from 200-500 Watts depending on the application.. Honestly.. If you are gonna put say a 1000 watt amp on this sub, then the BP option is a bit of over kill.... If you got a 1500+ watt amp and limited knowledge of electrical upgrades (or the amp isn't efficient) where voltage drop may occur and you're a volume knob pusher then grab this option....

1200d v.2 not putting out like i think it should

I don't know your level of car audio knowledge so i'm just gonna throw this out.. Are you certain you wired the sub up to a final load of 1ohm ? Do you have a DMM ?? If so i'd meter the speaker wires disconnected from the amp to assure you have a final load of 1ohm... Also take a phone pic of the amps settings... last time a customer said these exact words and wanted to warranty the amp thinking it was broken i asked to take a look at it first. the SSF and the LP filter was off by a shit ton.. after i tweaked the filters dramatic improvement on sound...

New personal best with one woofer =)

It's 1.75ft net volume with a single 6" aero port. Actual dimensions are something like 13.5" tall x 13.5" deep x 24" wide. I believe it'll do better with less volume though. Aero port was external D ? what was the length on the port (final tuning was ?) Do you guys get better results with the slot port with the pvc on the port wall making like a last minute kerf (as pictured for the 15" NS enclosure) or did the aeroport yield better numbers... ?

New personal best with one woofer =)

When you got time Jake send me over the plans for that dual sa-8 box you made... need to know how you cut and placed the PVC pipe on it and the info on the port and box build... I'm gonna build one for our spring break comp and enter in the dual 8" class.. We got a TL so we will probably play around with the placement... you got better results with the pvc pipe on the slot port or with aeroports ?

FI SSD or Alpine type x

Earsplitter please stop this type of post... just cause a majority of the people here think the Fi SSD sounds better then what YOU think sounds better and then bashing them for being on an "Fi Boner" is childish... Suffice it to say your on an Alpine boner... I work at one of the most successful shops that sell alpine... And i can say (since i've heard alpine subs in more applications then you could dream of) that the SSD will more then hold it's own against the Type X.... Once again i can easily say by your childish post get of the MAINSTREAM ALPINE BONER... i've heard both in SQ cars... SSD with copper coils sound amazing... They taken first place over countless cars running type-x... And i've seen my share of type-x take countless first places as well... Just because TO ME i think the SSD's with copper coils sounds better then a type "x" doesn't give you any bases to label me a bias person... in fact to me it seems your more on the alpine boner then anyone else... coming here and slinging mud at people who are voicing their opinion... I can post VALID facts on direct drop in with SSD's and Alpine Type X.. same watts same cars and on the same RTA meter... I can post these cause i've used both subs in SPL, Daily and SQ applications... I'm not posting cause i heard ONE alpine type X in a sealed box on 500 watts by an inexperienced competitor... or the average consumer... Nor am i posting my opinion based on hearing an SSD set-up... My basis (as mentioned) is in countless applications, direct swaps, and even hidden blind test with 7 peoples ear.... have them sit in the car and listen to direct swaps and ask them which sounds better... People could hardly make a distinction... I recommend the SSD over the alpine because they sound amazing and price for price the Alpines have a hard time justifying the extra doe spent... I'm just tired of people who haven't done any comparison other then sticking there head in a car and then making post and then saying stupid shit about boners... FYI with the BP option and flatwind it will handle more watts then the Type X.... once again posting without any BASIS for your posts....
