I say go for it. I just got my ixl-12. I havent put it in yet, hopefully today. I'll be going from a maw-15 with about 800 watts to the ixl-12 with 1000-1200 watts, I'll let you know how it is. But by the looks of it and the few reviews out there, it should live up to the mach 5 reputation

If I remember right, sub up and port back is the best set up for coupes. If thats the case, you'd be fine. Hopefully some one can confirm that though.
-
Ok, well I ordered the sub last night. I'll be making a box in the coming days. I'll report back when everythings in.

Sounds good. Im guessing since this thing is a low end beast as it is, it will still hit the lows with a tuning of around 34hz? I had my MAW-15 tuned to around 30hz and loved the lows, I just dont want to lose any low end
-
Hey Mark, any word on the recommended box sizes?
-
I'm only 17! Thats what parents are for. But when they're broke too, then we have problems
-
Sounds promising, can't wait. Now I just need some money.....
-
Its for my MAW-15, I cant remember the exact size, but i'm pretty sure it was around 3 cu. ft. tuned to 30hz.

Thanks a lot. Judging by the performance of the MAW for the price I payed, I can only imagine what the IXL can do. I checked today and my box will fit in my car, but I'd still like to go smaller and make a birch box to save on weight a little. I have plenty of power (~1600 watts @ 1 ohm), and have room for a proper ported box. Sounds like it would be a good idea.

Hey, its been a while since I've posted here. I've been running a maw-15 ported for the last year or so, and i'm really happy with it. I just got a new car and need to downsize a little, so I was thinking about going with the 12" ixl. THere doesn't seem to be much info out there about them, except the review on here. With higher power handling, higher xmax, and just better quality overall, I'm not too worried about the output or sound quality being any less than my maw-15. Am I right? And what would be a good ported box for these? Thanks
-
Thats a shame. My maw-15 has been going strong for a year now, never let me down. Do you have any plans on keeping a low priced beginner line like the maw's have been?

Yes....another amp noise problem
espguitarist91 replied to JazzScreamer's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I dont mean to jack, but my amp has pretty much the same problem the OP described. Except, when I unplug the Rca's the sound remains. Ive moved the ground 3 times and went straight to the battery before with no change. Is it just a defect in the amp. It a hifonics, 1606d, and I realize that may be part of the problem. Its not a big issue, because its not audible when the car is on, unless youre outside and the trunk is popped. -

Ive never had mine sealed but supposedly they come alive ported. And mine is doing just that. Its plenty loud i a 3 cu. ft box tuned to 28. Maybe check the wiring. Possibly wired to 8 ohms or some other mistake? Dont overlook stupid mistakes, theyre killers.

im pretty sure he was hoping for dual 4's right?
