  4. Hey guys, I'm copying and pasting a post from HACKMUNCH from another forum...here's the deal... "well some might have heard that me,micksh and a friend of ours has been in contact with wayne about doing db drag shows in ohio. wayne has givin us the go ahead to do 1x dbdrag shows. once we get certified by greg zoller at the end of the year we will be certified to do 2x and 3x shows in 2014. that being said we have allready secured about 7 to 8 shows in the northern ohio region and have spots open for about 3 to 4 more. our goal is to do about 10 shows in northern ohio in 2013. steve mick will also be doing 1x dbdrag shows in southern ohio and greg zoller will be doing about 5- 2x or larger db drag shows in 2013. with that being said your looking at about 15 to 20 db drag shows in ohio in 2013! we have spoke with will penn and will also do some side by side shows with meca in 2013. at our dbdrag shows there will be an added little contest for "ohio king of bass" competition. this will be a winner take all competition. 100% cash back payout. it will be a 30 sec average on music competition." There's a Facebook page just posted for the Kings of Bass challenge, check it out! https://www.facebook.../groups/KOBSPL/
  5. We started this to get more shows in the Northeast Ohio area, honestly. It may expand some more next year depending how things go this year, but we'll see.
  6. Sorry, haven't been on here in awhile...We have a free Test and Tune/Practice runs at the IASCA/MECA show in Columbus this Sunday, April 14th http://iasca.com/event/boom-at-the-market-series/ and we'll have a booth talking about it at the Gus Vaughn Memorial Show in Canton http://iasca.com/event/gus-vaughn-memorial-fundraiser/ Then here is a list of shows coming up, (read the description on each, tells what organizations are running at each)
  7. Yeah, the hatch cars would just go into the power classes. Like I said, this year will be a test. Once we see how things go, I could see splitting the lowest power class and also the trunk class, but we'll see. As far as entry fees, most dB Drag, IASCA, MECA, etc, are $25-30 I believe. Our Kings of Bass thing is $15 for one run, $5 for additional...
  8. Thanks! We wanted really simple rules and classes. All the big organizations have had to over-do the rules I think because most of them refuse to use real power ratings. We are big believers that power and efficiency, not cone area, are much larger factors in SPL. So many people are doing the same numbers with 4-15" as people with 8-15" etc., because they are running more efficient designs and/or more power...if things go well this year, in 2014 we are going to split probably the trunk class and maybe the 0-5500 watt class so there's classes below 2500 or 3000 watts....

Sorry, haven't been on here in awhile...I remember the shop, went there a couple times. Funny part is, the Bronco II in my avatar is my old truck that had 12 Dr. Crankenstein 15" in it, 1995 USAC Pro 251-500 Legal SPL World Record Holder....the shop I worked at carried them.

The Next 5 Years For Subwoofers?

Here's my take...basically, other than better designs in cooling, stiffer suspensions and more excursion in drivers, there really won't be much change in drivers in five years, just like there hasn't been in the past. It's a trade off really. In the 90's, you had efficient drivers in sealed boxes that would perform best with 300-700 watts each....fast forward to now....there is more power handling, but efficiency has dropped. In comes more drivers specifically designed to work in ported boxes to make up for it. Neither is "better" really, but with amplifier power being so cheap these days compared to the old days it's necessary to make subs handle more now. As far as companies like JL, they seem to only come out with something different when it is REALLY different, IMO. The other thing with them, it seems they are just starting to move their focus more toward the high-end home theater crowd, which is probably a good move for them. I'm sure like everyone here, they see the race to the bottom and know they can't (or don't want to) compete with stuff built overseas. Anything they do with cars is going to be leaning toward the SQ crowd I think. As far as the internet companies, it's going to be all about customer service, performance, and reliability that helps make one stand out over another. Companies like Sundown, SSA, DC and the like have built up a fan base that helps keep them relevant. I just hope most of them keep their lower lines at a good price point but still quality, rather than just looking at price. In the long run, that is what will help keep companies going, rather than just the $500-700 subs I believe.

Yep, we were talking to them at the time, and Tom from Ohio Generator got pissed and went over and talked to them, and finally decided to move.

Thing is, I was like anyone else....I had never seen the truck, wanted to check it out. The main problem I had wasn't whether or not he charged for demos, hey more power to him if people actually were willing to pay, I don't know why anyone would....the main problem was everyone wanted to demo there, that's the fun of going to shows like that, but with that thing blaring all day, you either had to park way away from it or squeeze one in when he wasn't playing. You obviously couldn't draw attention away from that thing when he was playing it. Like I said, if he would have just shut the outside horns off underneath it would have been fine...Ohio Generator even moved their booth on the first day because they couldn't even talk to people at the show interested in their products...it just became ridiculous.
