    Are my DD's damaged?

Friend of mine gave me 2 locked up 9515's to pay off a $250 debt he owed me. I ordered 2 recone kits as my friend says he could rebuild them. I gave them to hit, he reconed them, and they play. Well, one speaker makes a crackling noise at low volumes through it's whole range. At low volumes I can only hear it on very low notes and at higher notes. Did he do a poor job at reconing it? Is it something I did? Are the magnets misaligned? The other speaker is barely audible, I'm thinking that one might be a wiring issue. Any other info needed, just let me know.

    Hello from GA

Hey guys. I'm Dane. Was told by swagger_wagon468 to join here. Met him a couple weeks ago and we got to talking about my rig. I'm pretty new into the SPL world, and audio in general, so I'm not the smartest on the subject, but everyone has to start somewhere right? My first system was a cool concept. The box was built inside of the back seat. Sealed, had like .75 cubic ft of space. Was a Pioneer shallow mount 10". Blew that in a week. Went to a Memphis shallow mount 12", blew 7 of those and Memphis told me they wouldn't warranty them anymore. Then I went to a JL Audio 13tw5. Was a great speaker, I just wanted more, and the Kicker ZX750.1 was pushing the limits of that sub. All powered by a cheap sony HU. So I took the backseat out and put 2 RE SX10s in a ported box, powered it by an SPL FX3000-1D. Worked great until I wanted more. Now I've got 2 DD9515's (that are in rough shape,) 2 SPL FX3000-1D's, and an SPL 4 channel (not hooked up lol) In a box a friend of mine made, says it's about 9 cubic ft, tuned to 32 hertz and a Shuriken battery. With a Pioneer DEH-6300UB. No pictures of that setup right now, but swagger_wagon did take a video of my haggard setup if he'd like to post it for me. Hope to learn some stuff 'round here.
