    !!! Sundown SA-8 v.2 PRE-ORDER !!!

    I trust they will.

    My SA-8 box. WOW

What kinda vehicle is that? You said you face it forward, have you tried facing it towards the back? Allowing the sub/port to load off the rear truck/hatch can provide a little extra umph. Don't hurt to try.

    !!! Sundown SA-8 v.2 PRE-ORDER !!!

For daily about 12 in^2 each "Port Area" or "Port Area Per Foot"? Couple more Questions: 1. Being that there's no pole vent, very little space needs to be left behind sub and thus allowing the build of a little shallower enclosure? 2. What's the displacement?

Got my PSI Passive Radiator -- What For ?!

Porting difficulties, and thus the PR, is due to it only being a single 8"? Going with 2 or more should make porting a bit more manageable, right?

Recone kit: What all is included?

Wondering if it might be possible that I got the wrong gasket with my kit, assuming there are different gaskets besides the obvious being overall diameter. Are there different gaskets for different Fi subs?

Recone kit: What all is included?

FYI, it came with bolts/screws and terminals. Thanks FI

Recone kit: What all is included?

Thanks for the info. I ordered glue from them. Starting with motor only. I have the terminals, just no bolts. Anybody know what size/specs bolts used on this sub?
  10. I ordered a recone kit w/ basket for a Q. Wondering what all is included with this recone kit--push terminals, bolts for basket to motor, shim, CA glue, etc.? I'd like to have everything on hand when kit comes in.

    Fi frankenstein???

I appreciate the info you guys have shared here. I resoldered the leads, mounted and "test drove". The Q enclosure also seems to have made quite an improvement. And for kicks, a video.

You're right, that somebody was me. So that braided sleeve there should be totally soldered along with the braided lead running in the sleeve?

    Fi frankenstein???

I heard no distortion, what I heard was a loud pop/clank something of that nature. Took the sub out the box today and found this: Now I'm not 100% sure that was the problem, but looks pretty promising. It never made that "pop" sound in the old box so I'm thinking the dangling posts has a lot to do with it or perhaps the new box I made is just way out of tune. What I also noticed was the screws that I got with the sub/enclosure seemed to distort the surround after it was all cinched down. My thought was an unevenness with excursion. I've remounted it with different screws and all is well now. Hopefully no more pop. If there is still a "pop" what could that mean because I'm not putting to crazy a power to it--badly tuned enclosure? Lastly, the leads from the cone going to the terminal seem to be have a braided sleeve. Should that sleeve also be well soldered to terminal posts?

Are you saying that's probably what I heard instead of an actual "clip"? It made the noise on a very hard hitting, tight bass note from Nelly's "Where's the party at?" lol

    Fi frankenstein???

I had some birch ply laying around so I built a box to the Q's cut sheet. I tried to putting it to the test last night and while I was running it at higher volume I heard a "clip" so I backed it down and ended the testing. It's apparent this Rockford amp isn't up to the task. Will fiddle more after an amp upgrade. This sub seems pretty capable though. In regards to testing the sub for parameters, there are two shops in town, one did not have the sub tester and the other wasn't open when they were clearly supposed to be--within normal biz hours. Wanna see if they have a sub tester on hand. Here's the enclosure uncarpeted. Beveled the edges of the port's walls.
