Recone of an old Destijl Sub

Scott is handling this via e-mail. As usual, they are handling it in a very professional manner.

Recone of an old Destijl Sub

Do you guys offer recones of any older Destijl subs? This one in particular is a Blueprint 1001. It doesn't have to be exact but I would like it back in working condition.

Bumping up so that someone from Fi will see this. What can I do to speed this up? I'd like my recone before 2012.

From the UPS site: A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated. Label Created On: 10/06/2011 No tracking information has ever appeared.

Bumping this to the top so someone at Fi can take a look. I can provide any information you need. Just let me know.

The tracking number that you sent doesn't even show that it was picked up. The tracking number was sent from UPS to the email address you gave Fi. That is correct. But according to the tracking number, nothing has been shipped. I know a lot of people are starting a long holiday weekend so if you guys can look into this closer on Monday that would be great.

Is there any update my recone? I received the e-mail with my tracking number weeks ago.

I'm familiar with his subs going back to FRC Soundworks. I understand about not having the older parts, you only have so much warehouse space. It's been so long since I ordered anything from Fi that I forgot you guys didn't do loose parts like PSI. I usually catch him when he comes to town and have him drop parts at my house. Has your paypal address changed from about 6 years ago?

WOW!!!! How about 1 coil? How would I pay? You seemed surprised. How much did you think a recone kit was going to cost? $20 each? Thanks ford302redneck but that's not a recone kit price. That's the price for 3 coils shipped. I've purchased four custom 18" recone kits from Fi in the past and I'm well aware that I have to pay for quality.Back to the coil, assuming $15 for shipping, that would be about $55 each for a 2", underhung coil. In my opinion, that is a lot to pay to repair a sub that I only paid $85 for. On the other hand, Fi is the ONLY supplier of this coil so they can charge what they want. I'll still get a coil but instead of buying extras, I'll only pick up the one I need and be much more careful with test tones next time. Basic economics at work. uhh..that's for the whole recone man, we don't sell loose parts. I didn't know you guys would throw something together for me since this was a rare sub. Price for 1?My apologies to ford302rednecik.

    Photo storage.

If you haven't been keeping a backup of them, then you are already a step behind. Go to your local Target and get this - http://www.target.com/p/WD-My-Passport-Hard-Drive-250GB/-/A-13698818 for $30. It's a start. Download and install Microsoft SynchToy. It's the cheapest way to keep your working folder synched up with your backup. I run mine weekly. My backup drive is a 2nd SATA drive in my PC. I also keep a network drive that also has a backup of my important files. Finally, my wife keeps DVD copies at her office about 30 miles away. I have too much to use one of those online services like Carbonite. My long term goal is to set up a family member with a private FTP server and that will be my online backup. I'll do the same for him at my house.

    Glock 19 or 21/30

x eleventy billion If it ain't comfortable to shoot you aren't going to want to practice on the range and if you aren't going to want to practice on the range it'll be useless to conceal carry. Might as well have an extendable baton tucked up under your belt; would be a whole lot safer This is more important than manufacturer or caliber. If you can't hit your target, it doesn't matter what you have. My CCW is a little odd (Beretta 92 compact) but I've been shooting this pistol since my father gave it to me when I went off to college (1987).The second most important item is a comfortable holster. If you are comfortable, you are more likely to carry. I use a Crossbreed Supertuck. If I'm wearing anything with a belt, I have it on. Since I work from home, I carry 16 hours a day minimum. Finally, training. Not the standard CCW training class. That is just a start. Last year I took a more advanced class at my local range. We practiced drawing and putting two rounds in center mass. Close quarters draw and shoot. Clearing a jam. Mag swaps. Shooting while moving. I learned more in that class than all of my years around "gun experts". I'm hoping my schedule allows me to take the level 1 class from Israeli Combat Training the next time Ben is in town.

I hope you go into the storage area more than once every few months. No reason to move those coils where they are We don't use xbl^2 any longer so those coils are at the bottom of the stack of coils in the very back of one of the warehouses.. Shoot me your zip code and I can figure out what shipping will be for you. 38672I'd like a few (3) so I can have backups. If you find the original cones or spiders, that would help. If not, I can get close from some other guys.

I'd like it as close as possible to original but I understand this driver is almost 10 years old. The spider is reddish in color and feels extremely soft. The ridges are all the same so I don't think it is progressive. It's also on the 2nd landing so I assume it's a 7.5". While looking if you find any other matching parts, it would be very helpful. Thanks a bunch. No more 20hz test tones even if it is only 250w.

This is the driver I bought from PSI while he was still in LV.I'm looking for 4 ohms but beggars can't be choosy. Even if you have the XBL^2 coil, I'll take it. I can piece the rest together as best as possible.

It was a popular brand around 2002/03 and probably one of the reasons Scott is bringing the name back. The 01 series was XBL^2 enabled with an xmax around 15.5mm. Very similar in appearance to Beyond Compare and the SVS NSD and ISD drivers.

    Building a Subwoofer

I have never used a HPF device. I picked up an SVS/Marchand black box (adjustable HPF) but haven't used it yet. I'm building some clones of the SVS CS cylinder subs and I'll use it then. I want to try the B-1 on some surplus 500w NHT plate amps I have. They require a very high signal and the B-1 can put out a 10v signal. I want to build something like the 3rd design - http://www.creativesound.ca/pdf/SubDuction-plans-290307.pdf and put in an AV-12 from Stryke Audio / AE Speakers.

Not to discount your thread, you need to check out some projects at AVS. Threads go for over a year and have over 100 pages and that is just for a $20,000 sub project. Complete theater build logs have become epic.

    Building a Subwoofer

There are a couple of Behringer products that will boost the voltage and I can't remember the name of any of them. Check Home Theater Shack. There's a huge thread on modifying the subsonic filter of one of these. I'll also look and update this post if I find it. That was fast. It was the ART Cleanbox that I was thinking of - http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/diy-subwoofers/5310-art-cleanbox-mod-thread.html . You will need to mod it slightly but that only takes a few minutes and costs about $1 in parts. Another edit - I saw the B-1 mentioned in that thread. Based on features, it looks like the way to go.

    Building a Subwoofer

You do know about the minor issues with the EP-2500? 1. The noisy fan - Easy swap that took 5 minutes. The new fan took a week to get here and cost $12. I also used an old PC power supply to create a power plug on the fan. That took about 30 minutes. I also reversed the air flow so it sucks from the front and blows out the rear. Insert your own jokes here. 2. Low voltage from the A/V receiver - I think it may be Onkyo models but some don't have enough voltage from the LFE output to properly drive the amp. I am running a Pioneer VSX-1014 and don't have a problem. I also suggest you get a BFD to tame the in-room response. -Robert
