I am interested. How much power would these push per side and would it be enough for a set of Hertz Mille's
  9. I've been into stereos for 19 years and for the past 10 years have been waiting for this settup again. I was hitting in the 150s in 1991. A friend and BASS buddy passed away tragically 3 years ago. Since then I've really stepped it up looking for the same settup we both had back in 1990. He used 4 18" Lanzars and I had 4 18" punch. We both had Orion 2250SX's running our systems. The black beast I'm sure most of you knew that. I really want do duplicate this system for Kelly Boy and have many great memories of him including many in Daytona. Now when me and my friends get together at SBN every year we always get to talk about him together. Don't mean to get anyone down but I want anyone who is interested in helping me undestand the importance of closely duplicating the enclosure for pure sentimental reasons. I AM NOT even the slightest bit concerned about SPL. I would like to show up at every show and just jam it all day. The hell with the trophy. I want people to remember who let them come up and sit in it all day. Oh and played music in a real truck. not a tank and a fart or was that burp. I appreciate the DRAG portion of SPL because Nitro Methane are badd ass for a 1/4 mile pass at 327mph 4.57 seconds but then they tear them apart and rebuild for the next run every time. I want an Indy Car or a Formula 1. Something that has better performance in more areas. How about an ENZO I've really been keeping up with car audio and go to Daytona SBN every year. I was blown away that FI rolled up in there this year as strong as they did and I didn't even know anything about them. Because of FI this was by far the best show in over 10 years. I met Kent he was really cool and gave me and my friends great demo's even played a request. Slowed down bass. We really wanted to see a test of the FI's and he gave it to us. Also met the guy in the white minivan w/ kicker amps installed by big mike's. Don't remember his name if anyone can help but he was also really cool and gave us a nice clear DEMO. Does anyone know what models they are running. My heart was beating so fast I was so excited I forgot to ask. I just listened in amazement. So does anyone know which line of FI 418s would work best in a single reflex bandpass 3 chambers drivers side chamber 2 woofers firing into center chamber passenger chamber will have 2 woofers also firing into the center chamber. All woofers will be perfectly sideway facing towards each other but offset for example the front drivers side woofer will be low and the back one high then the passenger side chamber will have the front one high and the rear one low. The center chamber will fire into the cab between the bucket seats through a port about 4 inches long and big enough to climb inside comfortably - well somewhat. Definately not if it's on!!! Although I did that with my punch at 250rms each 418's the early 90s. I have been really anxious to use this box again as it is still a legend in my hometown of Tampa (ask Scotty that built Tommy's box) the 418's box me and Kelly had was the most impressive thing I've ever heard not necessarily the highest SPL. 155 would make me giddy but agin I'm not even concerned about that. This is a tribute box for a fallen Bass Bro. That's it. Any help is greatly appreciated. This is my 88 Blazer that will see 4 FI 18s soon. Not sure which ones to use yet. Would like to build a single reflex bandpass just for making some air move. Gonna keep on reading this site. Thx everyone in advance! Currently leaning towards the Bl's with all upgrades and a 40001 Rockford. and and maybe a second one day. If 2000 RMS per properly adjusted will be beneficial. Thanks again Joe Rod
  10. Doug is quite busy these days working as an electricial on a big jobsite (go figure) Doug as always shown up at Daytona SBNs over the last 20 years with a wild vehicle. 16 15's, 16 12's, 24 12's!!! Dougs been away from the SCENE for about 5-6 years "guess" but I've been chattin' wit him quite a bit! He is someone who has usually been sponsored. He and Mark used to work as installers at Jeff Blair's AUDIOMOTION of Altamonte Springs back in 1988-1994? I heard Jeff went on to become president of MTX Europe? (anybody know for sure?) Anywho, These guys were allways light tears ahead of their time. Back in 89-90 they showed up at the big sombrero (old Tampa Bucs Stadium) to take the show from the "and I guess still" bass nut legend Virgil Williams who drove the white s10 Blzer called Freddy's Nightmare with 16 15s in an awesome enclosure that worked with anything he threw in it. Originally though he was all RF. DOug, Mark, and Jeff showed up with a barely finished Nissan truck Red with white topper (I said barely) with 12 LANZAR 18s powered by I beleive 6 Red Beasts 2100HCCA's. Virgil at the time had 5 RF Mosfet Power 650's 4 on Subs 1 on mids and highs. Virgil had always been "the guy" on the east coast just like Fakuda out west (Everythings west of the FLA!) These guys had taken it to the next level with their fearless leader who probably could have developed a launching system for NASA!!! hehe. 1989-90 mind you and they had done a couple things nobody had ever thought about before (and most havn't since) but I am here to let you in on their accomplishments. The 12 18s were in a loaded horn enclosure. Jeff eventually built my Blue Thunder 3410s enclosure a similar way when I was sponsored by MTX. Two of the magnets for the 18s could be seen if you bent down and looked up the rear wheel wells. Like the matching pair on top they we're mounted on the furthest extensions of the flairs and as where most people of today would mount at least those 4 inverted, they made room through the top and bottom of the enclosure by simply cutting "holes" through their cabinet for the 2 pairs and then "fiberglassed" over all 4 magnets back to the cabinet as to keep the rear wave sealed!!! NO BIG DEAL????????????? Now remember that subwoofers "dustcovers" back in those days were mostly "cloth"... In thier theory of wanting to completely seperate the rear wave-from the front wave - they decided to also add fiberglass resin to their dustcovers to stop any air that may pass through the sub via the spider (1) and the cloth dustcovers. NO BIG DEAL????????????? Here you go, See even if all of this was wrong in anyone's eyes today you have to love and appreciate the build, the theory's, the passion that these 3 endured by taking it "to the next level" in 1989-90. They then did several VERY COOL things. Measured the amount of resin, with a digital scale, that was used for a single woofer and the added that (for extra weight of the woofer) to the TS Parameters. Played one sub for weeks to "break it in". Figured out and the TS Parameters of thier "broken in" woofer. Designed their "loaded horn" enclosure according to the new TS Prmtrs they had come up with. It was the first time I'd seen a windshield move 7".... Like Tommy's Ho Problms. 1989-90 mind you!!! and the install was basically finished the morning of this infamous show. I remember a lot about that show but most of all them hoisting thier well deserved trophy over the FLA BaSS KING of that time. Precious moments etched into this bassers memories forever. Eventually through my friend Kelly Caulkins and his 83 Yellow S10(RIP) I ended up owning 4 of those exact Lanzar 18s installed in a 4th order single-reflex bandpass enclosure and my "smurf" (actually called "Big League" Blue) 91 S10. Ran off a single 2250 SX Beastie. 250rms per sub this in all honesty is the only reason MTX ever "sponsored" me with 34 Blue Thunder 10s which was a big hit at Daytona SBNs in 1992. Besides Jeff from Audiomotion in Orlando, Eddie Gonzalez, "Camaro" Joe Moreira, (yes, installer currently for SQ repeat champion and "big gun killa" Eddie DeJesus) and myself Joey Rodriguez aka ronrico (418FIs) all from TAMPA FLA. installed my system in 30 days hearing it for the first time the Sat morning of the 92 Daytona SBNs(yes, we were their by 2PM Sat to compete) My sponsor had their famous Toyota 4X4 with the 3" plexiglass over the bed with 24 12s facing up into the plexiglass(all show no go) and the "Terminator Boat" with 4 15s (That thing was bad azz out on the water......Booooooooooooooooom......serious carry) The box Audiomotion built for Kelly was very special and a lot of people know about it. 2 I can think of you all may know is Tommy "Ho Problems" and Mikey "lil jons installer of the quickly famous 1612 SSDs(don't know if he's helping w/ lil jons current build of 18AA15s!?) Currently this enclosure is being rebuilt in ode to our late Bass Brother "Kelly Boy" in my S10 Blazer! Going simple with (3X+ the rms of former enclosures subs) 4 Fi 18" SSDs w/ copper coils off of a (3X+ the power of former system's amp) single Sundown SAZ-3000D. Thanks for current build goes to first and foremost Kelly Caulkins 1973-2002, my fiance' Kelly Vail, (just happened that way ) and of course Jacob from Sundown and Scott with Fi/Ascendant Audio. Special thanks also for the "recreation" goes to some serious help, patience, and guidance form my boy Shawn Fleming and SSA's very own Shizzzon. Thanks Everyone. This build means everything to me and Doug (who I have not forgotten about) since it is for our fallen bass brethren Kelly "Boy" Caulkins. System will be on display at the 2009 Daytona SBNs as due for completion by summer along with a complete build log here on the #1 forum SSA.... Back to Doug's current build of 2 18" Havoc's. Here is a guy who has been "sponsored" many, many times and has asked me to build his enclosure (quite an honor) since I am up to date on the current happinin' equipment. He will be running the 2 18s off of a RF40001. PS My fiance' actually got "into" (pun intended) this current install. Not going to check this for spelling - It's now 5:22 AM and I need to be at work in 4 hours but I couldn't stop typing. By the way Doug, if you are reading this, one of my neigbors called the cops on me beacause of my power tools last night so your box is gonna be 1 more day bro. Later Enjoy everyone and thanks to all of SSA for your combined inspiration and guidance, Anyone want somebody to write a book? or an article contact me here hehe n/k. Joey Kelly "girlie" aka tinkerboo rounded the ports double baffle dem crackers (Tampa Thing) the result? stay tuned more pics tomorrow......oh wait it already is tomorrow

We have been consistently beating Experts in the top class with unlimited resources. We of course are on a budget. We have over 45 years combined experience between the 2 of us and started out in SPL. We are competing with the current world and SBN iSQc championship vehicle. In the works is my 1988 Red S10 BlaZa to compete in the 159.9 class and win SQ at the same time. below is 10 years ago below is door panels from us in 1992

Different Ramos HEARD? Comparisons between organizations? The blue S10 competes in Iasca and CAN... What organizations do you compete with J ? A little sense of modesty? Should the vehicle have to be modest too? All I did was offer folks in Tampa a demo in the iSQc champion that has knocked off the big boys consistently for the last two years. The vehicle and installers have done the impossible and now an SSA moderator will not let me head a post with the vehicles rightful title in the heading and instead is going to take it upon himself to rename it a "nice SQ vehicle in Tampa" SPL guys do enough chest thumping? Yeah Alma was a real Gorilla All I can think is how many times newbies get burned on here (usually by moderators) when there first post is (and I have seen it time and time again) ,"I want my car to be LOUD but still have good sound quality" or when somebody involved with SPL mentions the SQ in there vehicle or mention the letters SQPL in the same breath or even LSQ. I've seen moderators burn all these questions as if they were the Kings of SQ and had the patent to the very letters. I've seen a brand new guy with one post get told by a moderator ,"I am sure your definition of SQ and mine are worlds apart. Don't say SQ just say what your goals are". I have personnaly been told again by a moderator to not put SPL and quality together because it didn't make any sense to him. I say to him modestly with one single chest pump. I will be more than happy to help you with anything and even get you a demo in the reigning world and SBN iSQc champioinship vehicle. Can you do that for me? Remember I am talking TOP class against manufacturer vehicles and oh yeah doing it with a non manufaturer vehicle. (CHEST THUMP HERE) Respect it...the vehicle and installer has earned it.

Whether on not Steve Head, Mark Eldridge or the others have any problems it would only be because they do not approve of the judges opinion in naming this vehicle the reigning WORLD CHAMPION 1ST PLACE ISQC WORLD FINALS CHAMPION 2007 and SBN 2008 CHAMPION The little guys are on top and have done it on a budget. They have come out of nowhere to beat guys who have unlimited resources. Basically what this team accomplished is something that others had previously thought might be impossible. BTW are you the Ramos that competes with the Scion. As for Mark Eldridge that would be like comparing Denny Hamlin to Richard Petty as in Mark hasn't competed for sometime. Privateers have done it. Taking the top class beating manufaturer vehicles. If you want to edit the title back to the way I had it thats cool. I am not going to make up a title for the vehicle it didn't already win and that is what the post heading was. Are you going to Georgis this weekend? I can get you a DEMO if you'd like. The Blue S10 RULES the mobile audio scene.

Can he also moderste that the install from 6-7 years ago was actually from 10 years ago?!?! We were adding it up last night. I think its important to see the quality of work from today and yesteryear and the subtle changes. SPL & iSQc is where we've been sQpl is where we're headin'

We do not have a car stereo business per say. We work non car audio jobs in the day. This is our hobby and we never mentioned charging anyone on this topic. We only offered to help SSA members in our area. If we don't have permission from the site owners to help others then how do we go about getting it. Any help in shaking these HATERS will be much appreciated!!! JoeRod

    JoeRod's 34 10's Loaded Horn

OLD SKOOL 1992 Here are some long awaited pics for the first time available on the world wide web and brought to you exclusively by SSA A lot of people have asked me why I didn't have pics of my truck and I humorously tried to explain to them had we had the internet "back then" I would have pics saved everywhere. Hard to believe the internet was virtually non-existent 16 years ago. Thanks to my good friend of 20 yrs and head installer on the MTX Blue Thunder project "Camaro Joe" Moreira was able to find some old pics still in existance of some of the personally best times of my life. 1991 Chevy S10 Tahoe Enclosure - Folded/Loaded horn (12 10s folded 22 10s loaded on the horn flares) Box designed by Jeff Blair of Audiomotion in Altamonte Springs (built 3 record holder enclosures) Jeff also custom built a digital time alignment system for this enclosure 156.7db sustained on B&K 34 MTX Blue Thunder 10s 14 MTX 2100 High Current Class A/B amps which had the old skool PPI boards 2 8's in each door Mids and highs were located in the old door handle location and the stock location on dash 6 group 31 batteries Custom made 18 volt variable Ford Alternator with 6 50 amp diodes mounted externally between rectifiers with 2 fans in a plexi-glass housing. (You couldn't just buy a HO alt. in 1992) The Saturday of Daytona Spring Break Nationals 1992 March 20 was the first time we heard "Blue Thunder" after 30 days of installation around the clock by 3 men. First song played was Billy Idol's Charmed Life Album Track #3 Prodigal Blues. (Most systems are incapable of playing all the notes on this particular song equally) The Horn enclosure played all the notes. Subs have come so far in the last 10 years. Blue Thunder was a WINDOW FLEXIN' wind machine that could still play the "upper" notes and would give that really hurt feeling in your chest while crystal clear. At last years SBN I finally heard something I bow to. Pipo's 16 Ascendant 12s blew me away. I wonder what we could have done with 4-5 times the power similar to what Pipo has??? Head Installer "Camaro Joe" Moreira Installer Eddie "the meter man" Gonzalez Enclosure designed by Jeff Blair built by me ...Joe Rod Riguez (owner) In the WORKS???? 12 Havoc 18s 6 Sundown 3Ks 12 16 volt Kinetik Batts
