Switching old school to new school

I have done ALOT of reading. Like I said. EVERYTHING looks good on paper. And I also once thought that bigger woofers were better until 20 years ago when I took 2nd at The War At The Shore in Jersey with a set of Soundstream Reference 12's to an Eclipse with 8 A/D/S 6's. Back when competition was based on sound, not noise. BTW He had the same amp! A/D/S PQ20 And if you think that Boston Acoustics Pro 10's don't hit solid, than you ain't been around long enough. No offense. My mom used to bitch when he came over because the bass would turn all her pictures on the wall even though my driveway was on the other side of the house. Off of 400watts rms.

I am looking for a suitable replacement of 4 Boston Acoustics Pro series 10.4LF. Normally when a customer is looking for sq I just direct them to Boston Acoustics 3 series subs because I've got the hook-up and can make a little on the deal. But with the car audio division of Boston I would rather start using something else. I currently have a customer that owns 4 10" B/A's And even though 2 of them need to be re-coned, he still thinks that it's the best way to go. I am trying to steer him toward something newer, but am not going to be left looking like an ass if it don't perform as good or better. Honestly I have only heard the two that he had in his Camaro and they really slam off a bridged out A/D/S PQ20. So he will surely be using his PQ20 and one that I have sold him to drive 4, 4ohm subs @200watts each but I have to be sure whatever we use really pounds like the four 10 he had. He will not go bigger than 12's, he feels that "big" subs are not tight enough. I agree. Not looking to win SPL comps, but wants to ,and I quote "shake your windows and break my molars" LOL Any input would be great. If nothing else this should be a fun topic. Box design is only limited by my imagination, he has an Escalade. So, any sub combination running off 200watts each that will hit harder than 4 Boston Pro 10.4LF's Thanks for the input. BTW If anyone says 4 BOSS 12's I'm leaving the forum. .

How did you guys find SSA???

I have just got my custom install business going again, and I'm researching different manufacturers that are hot on the seen, but not available in my area. SSA has been getting alot of attention on the other forums.
