  1. Found it and it aint cheap although it is a kit. https://www.dcpowerinc.com/brackets-and-kits/dual-alternator-bracket-kits.html?id=168&category=%3F&year=6&make=80&model=266&engine=581 I'll have to search for just the bracket with the thought of picking up a used alternator.
  2. Thanks! would there be a place that sells brackets to add another alternator? I saw a thread on high output alternators but not for an extra one.
  3. Realistically, how big of amps can I run (D class) in total wattage on a 136 amp alternator? I checked the specs for a dodge diesel and this is what it said of the output. After looking at the number, I'm thinking I'll only be able to run one sub and to incorporate two of the channels for the sub.
  4. I called up Joe Fox and was told the volume is .95 with a depth of 7".
  5. I did look at the SSA subs but am not looking to wait 3-4 weeks for delivery. This box has been on order since April and I am missing the rear seat for this long. So no damage is done to the equipment and my Great Dane puppy, I want the install done soon.
  6. I looked and Fox Acoustics does not give any details concerning volume but for some reason .85 sticks in my head. The depth was 6.75 inches. I realize there are a ton of stuff out there but I would just as much rather ask what works then for me to just throw money at the set up. I don't get the loudness competitions but am looking to strive toward true reproduction. Maybe I am asking too much but would like to hear the bass guitars and drums distinct sound and not muffled together. At one point of my life, I was told how clean music will not tire you out like muddier sound would after awhile. The installer had recommended the Fox box and was going to use PowerBass amp and a PowerBass 2X sub. Due to the fact he never returns my calls, I'll probably go elsewhere to have the installation done. So not knowing the credibility of PowerBass and realizing there are many possible selections,I am taking the advice to ask for suggestions first. The only other criteria is that I not have to change my alternator, which being a diesel would be beefy anyhow.
  7. Since April 23, I've been waiting for a sub box from Fox acoustics. It will be a 12" single sealed enclosure for a Dodge quad cab pickup. With a limit of $600, what would the recommendations be for quality sounding bass amp and sub?

    knockoffs

I keep hearing about knockoff products on Ebay. How does one go about finding whether or not it is the real deal? Even a store selling fakes can have good feedback because some just want the cheapest. I'm looking for amps and sub-woofers.
  9. in the back of my truck is not the learning experience I quite thought it would be. Until the Fox acoustic box gets here, my rear seat is out and my Great Dane takes pleasure in stepping on the cables. Uncle Mur4phy must have told him to stand right on the connectors because all four are broken. To top it off, he's crapped twice on the sub amp and pushes off anything I cover it up with. Back to the RCA's, those 22gauge wires are too small to hold and solder at the same time. What can I use to hold the jack while soldering? Mind you this has to be done in the back cab of my truck.
  10. I see a lot of stuff being sold used on forums and ebay. Is there any general rule to follow on how much they should be worth compared to new? Anything to watch out for as far as life span?( Would you buy one 10 years old) Which go the distance?
  11. I have never heard of an impact crimper before. I don't see where for $12 but looks like a cool tool to add to the collection. Anything to look out for when buying one? Some break after 2 uses or is there one that would give a tighter crimp?
  12. What do you guys use to crimp the larger power and ground wires. I don't have a need for the crimper that big much but got by with using the vise. Any other methods?
  13. I normally do my amperage readings with a clamp on but that won't work with dc power which means I'ld have to do it in series.
  14. Is there a way to find out how much room is left in the alternator output after running the vehicle? I am just wondering if this would be a way to see or prevent power drops and messing up the car/truck electronics.

    difference in quality in speakers

Would someone be able to direct me to where I may read up on what info to look at for determining speaker performance? Thanks to all who have replied.
