    My DSS Ethos Review

On that subject, when you was back there with the meter, how much amperage was I pulling? I think you said around 300 amps right? So, figurativly speaking, obviously not 100% accurate, but on the safe side, that would be ~300 amps times 12volts which comes out to 3,600 watts, so times that by two we get 7,200 real time power right? Nope.. 457A per amp.

    My DSS Ethos Review

i've got 8 ethos just laying around and over 100,000w of power laying around.. I'm going to have to dial it back some but i heard his 6 ethos install.. It was LouD and CleaN. To be able to break a 160 on less than 10,000w of actual output power is amazing!

    My Taramp HD8000 Review

Yea, but i have questioned his selling strategy as well. He was also the same person who said that he sold close to 30 amplifiers and 30% of them failed and he still had 20% more to sell before he ran out and was too afraid to sell them. He didn't know what to tell his customers about the appropriate specifications on what is different with these amps vs korean amps, for example. that was also the time where he damaged one himself running it WAY out of spec on purpose. so after educating him on what he had been doing wrong(not his fault just lack of knowledge), then he starts to sell more.. However, when someone says i sold 10 and 8 got damaged... That's not information. That's just a random sentence. Did you know several NS1s did the same thing at the show? I guess sundown should stop manufacturing those.. No.. Amplifiers protect for a reason and as a dealer, especially if you are there in person, should be as passionate as i am about working with companies. They should at least have an idea as to why they failed. Lack of not knowing makes me feel that some of these dealers in this country either don't care or don't have the time to care. 8 of 10 failing.. if that's true then the first logical thing to come to mind is the dealer didn't tell the customers what the limitations were on these amps... Probably ran them below rated load... too high DC voltage, etc.. It's all been done before from others, especially the dealer himself. But that's purely speculation because of a broad statement without any facts behind it so not even worth guessing.

    My Taramp HD8000 Review

I'm not saying you can't have any.. just to be more aware that the user needs to take into consideration to prevent vibrations from reaching the amplifier. The transformer design makes it more fragile because of the weight on the board. I'm pretty sure mounting an amp onto a speaker box is more brutal than mounting it to a false floor and hitting bumps in the road. The cycles experienced through a speaker box is far more brutal. There are tons of people who run these for daily without issues. It's easy, just have to be aware.

    My Taramp HD8000 Review

Kirill007, in terms of all amplifiers... it's a debate that could go both ways... either it's up to the user to properly secure an amp without fault or all buildhouses would have to over build their products to compensate for neglect. I use neglect in the sense that common installers including owners don't know or pay attention to the fragility of electronics for long term operation. now, for Brazilian amplifiers, there are 2 factors at play here- 1- HD series uses a single large transformer which is more susceptible to vibration damage. 2- most users in SA use these amps for everything but bass and have installs all firing out. since this is common, vibrations from bass is non existent so to build to compensate is not even thought of.

    My Taramp HD8000 Review

For those that do not know the recommended requirements for longterm operation- He has 2ohm model of this amp. He wired below the stable load. I am not referring to nominal loading. I am referring to EXACT DCR measured values. This is what counts, not estimates. I physically measured the values(voltage and current) as i was asked to to ensure the amplifier was "safe" at playing. I measured them and verified it was... So do not speculate i am blindly accusing someone of failure for no reason. While i was back there, i noticed a considerable amount of vibration from these amps to which i informed the user that this is bad for the installation. There are plenty of things one can do to resist vibrations. Longterm demos generated a ton of heat from these amps. These amps are not suppose to ever get hot.... ever... .ever. I was not around when these amplifiers were getting crazy hot. Simply put, longterm use below stable load had to be causing this issue. I can give speculatory answers as to how I believe the amplifiers failed but what i say technically means nothing until the repair center verifies the cause of failure. But from what i know, thermal failure and vibration failure are 2 possible reasons. I do not accuse people of faults without any prior knowledge.. that doesn't make any sense. It will probably take a good 2 weeks before Sencheezy gets the answers as to why they went into protect. I cant say anything about the repaired amp going up.. That has too many variables. But there were many amplifiers going into protect at the show last weekend. I just monitor those i have a connection with. It was a good review, nonetheless.

    My Taramp HD8000 Review

U told me u had d2s at one point. We could never measure the dcr because of the fets interrupting the reading. so what was you really wired to? .53? I know u weren't wired to 4.8 because the current draw was too high. parallel series would be ~1.3ohms.

    My Taramp HD8000 Review

You shouldn't have copied n pasted the review without correcting some things above. all 3 other members amps failed due to legitimate reasons that will be confirmed sometime soon by the repair center. amp #1 failed because 14awg cca was used on a 8k amp. Wire caught on fire and water was used to put it out.. probably fused to ground. amp #2 failed because it was directly mounted to box with no vibration suppression and it was moving quite a bit! There was no amp #3 unless you count yours. the 2 ohm model you have was wired to 1.01ohms which is not recommended. you kept dc voltage low which allowed the amp to stay within recommended values but because the amp was being used for so long, it started to get VERY hot! Something these amps should never get. that and a combination of vibration = their death most likely. vibrating and breaking parts inside is still #1 reason for amp failure in the world of car audio.

Yes. It was breathtaking for sure.

Amplifiers are minimally 90% efficient at 2ohms and closer to 96 at 4ohms. because the engineering process takes into account they will be used on speakers and the impedance will always rise above the rest resistance, they are always more efficient than anything else the car audio world is used to saving space and lots on electrical requirements. I seen this vehicle this morning.. lookin good! Going to hear it soon...

Go to IAK Facebook, Senchez. There is a high probability a 2nd amp will be in the vehicle at finals. You must meet on point tomorrow. I am leaving immediately so be EARLY before i leave so you do not miss me! Contact me before 6am tomorrow for directions\location.
  13. For one, I and many install shops do not recommend strapping korean\chinese amplifiers. There are far too many cases of 1 amp going into protect and not the other causing one to fail. It's literally a hit or miss when it comes to the reliability of strapping. The technology is just not worth trusting until they incorporate strapping protection.

As someone mentioned further up I would seperate each fuse, instead of one large fuse block, Because if one wire shorts its doubtful that all of those fuses would blow quickly enough to prevent any damage. If you used all 300 amp fuses, 1200amps could cause some pretty instant damage. Yep. We do not ever recommend using a single fuse larger than 300A in a vehicle. Too much of a fire hazard risk. Everything needs to be separated.

8 15s and the port area for that many in a flat wall? Currently just over 400sqin.

    Team IAK IronMan Explorer

I don't think that's the reason. I have 8 15s in a scion xb flat wall and he's got an explorer.. But his build will be done before mine. I'm just coasting.

Probably because wire is impossible to come in DOA.. but i'm sure with the right brand behind it.. they'll find a way to make that happen next in the car audio world.

    2014 Lowering Springs with System

Yea, if you can find any... As of recently, ALL manufactures stopped making shocks for the Scion xb and rumor has it they are about to stop making them for all scions period.. Going to start having to go completely custom everything from here on out.

    IAK needs an "IHOP"

I didn't come for good reason. family is more important than anything else. Even we are family but this story pertains to my actual family. I go to Cape coral, fl every year for 2 weeks to spent time with my 2 cousins, aunt and uncle. One of my cousins just got married while I was down there.. my other cousin, she has a boyfriend going 3yrs and a 2 yr son. i typically stay with her while down here because we are close and i care more about her because of her past life experiences. She's had rough life. currently they are stuck.. He can't get a job on the books because of child support, she can't work because nobody to watch their son. They have to live minimally to just get by. so while I'm on vacation, I help them watch their son, clean their house, PAY for their GAS, buy them food, etc... She thanks me much for doing this... Well, the day before SBN, they had a big verbal fight in the car and he jumped out the car.. After argument out of the car, they returned and I was hit with a hurtful image of my cousin in this situation... I couldn't take it.. I left once we got home. I went to her brothers house to cool down and tell him what happened. I can't take to see family hurt. she got upset at me for trying to mediate or over - care the situation. They get in plenty of arguments, I did not know this but they always resolve them.. again.. I didn't know. so I was talking to her all day the next day via text because she was too upset to talk on the phone.. I didn't want to leave here not having the last memory be good or just say bye! So I drove an hour out of my way to go back there and spend the ENTIRE day with them during SBN to ensure we, as family, are just as strong as we should be. We are definitely stronger than ever and for good reason- Anyone here ever do something for someone that was inspirational? You know the feeling you feel when you do? That relief that everything is going to be ok? Take a moment.. The following is a good conclusion to this story... I am also looking at purchasing a house soon in South Florida and moving their eventually. I will buy it in KY and pay on it til I move into it. I offered this proposal to which I received a big smile, , something I haven't seen from my cousin other than me telling jokes. A serious smile... When i purchase a house, I want them to move into my house, rent free, and pay only utilities while I pay the mortgage down 50% They live 1 hr away from family in BFE and no jobs around.. This will not only get me a house, but get them out of this shithole location, closer to family and with less bills. Call it fate for all of us but I forsee moving forward in the right direction for all of us.

    Archiving SPL-Lab section

We are going to let Mark and Aaron archive our vendor section within the next several days as we will no longer be a vendor here. Nothing is and has not changed with our business with SPL-Lab or with any other company we are distributing this year either. We are making a change and wanted to let the public know before any speculations arise about why we just vanished, lol. Again, nothing is changing or changed. We just won't have a section here much longer. All Group Buy Taramp's orders are still being processed by the way and is still on schedule for end of March.
