    jay-cee's Build Log

hmmmm.....I would say underneath for a uniform look. When I put some of my painted stuff in, it had scratches on it because of sliding the box in and out so many times.

It was doing 157 plus. I just had no room and with this I can sit all the way back. This set-up is lower though

I am probably a little behind here on this topic but I have been doin alot of research and talking to Murilo and T.J. about these. I do understand everyones concern about the amps and agree that it could be an issue and should be made more user friendly and probably will be in time. The problem is easily fixed or can be worked around with little effort. Simply run your 3 or 4 runs of single 0 gauge to a distro block just infront of the of the amps power and ground and then have a single run of 0 gauge wire that is about 5 or 6 inches long which will handle more then enough. This amp is NOT for begginers or amatures. If you can't figure out a way to make these amps work for you and your amplication then you don't need to buy them. The potenital of the amp is there. No one would give a drivers education student the ability to drive for nascar or run a sundown 3500 off of just 10 gauge wire. All I am saying is think about how you can use the equipment to the best of its ability. The amp has features to make sure you don't over heat the amp so that shouldnt be a concern and I am sure it would be covered under the warranty. They are offering a 5 year warranty, that says alot about a company and how they feel about their product.

Well I had the first show this past weekend....No baffle or anything like that just got it playing and gained matched amps, did put a roof brace in though. Couldn't take out the glass all of the way all I could get was some serious spidering out of it, probably would have made a cool video if I could have waited to put the new windshield in but I drive this daily so I had to get the new one in. Ended up with a 151.0 @ 30 Hz sealed on the dash which was a first in the class but I was the only one there lol and brought home a Phat Install from MECA. Still More to do but looks like we have some potential with this build. And sorry about the misunderstand it was x2 because my enclosure was more then an inch past the B pillar. Ran an exhibition drive by run and did a 126.4 30 second average to music, room for improvement but I will not be competing in drive-by, technically my car doesn't qualify for it.

alright guys i have some bass in the monte...trouble is i have a cracked windshield. Well I gotta take it out sometime right? I am gonna do a little demo here soon so what would everyone like to see? Keep in mind it isnt baffled or anything like that, just box in and bolted down playin playin some music so....a bassrace run with the lab? Just demoing? Test tones? I am going to leave it up to the majority. I have pics i am going to put up later but right now i am at work and on my cell. Let me know what everyone thinks. Thanks.

still a little dirty.... back of the doors its not all the way done as far as paint but its gettin closer
  10. I have used quite a bit of sundown audio equipment and I love them. 3000s can be very efficent and put out alot of power. Also they have a very clean sound, I dont feel the sundown will disappoint you. Electrical upgrades will be a must at some point in time though. I would say battery or batteries atleast, an alternator will be nice to have to and thats with either amp.
  11. What is the impedence of the sub?

The rest of my wiring came today too... i guess this more or a teaser pic then anything From here on out I am hoping to make a slow stead progress....and to be honest I am starting to get excited! Hopefully I can get alot done through the week and maybe get something going this weekend...may not be baffled or 100 percent done with cosmetics but its progress. Knowing the way it normally goes and my luck I am trying to get to much done.

The headliner is completely out. I am going to run a brace from roof to floor. So I have to get materials for that but when i had the other wall in it was moving the windshield pretty good so I feel I should just go all out. The seating will be a little tight so I decided to get racing seats in there and it should give the passengers and I a few extra inches. Plus another good thing about racing seats is that they are not adjustable which mean no one could ram my seats into the subs, and I did have a few people do that in the old setup.

Well it was a good weekend to get some stuff done anyway. It might not seem like we got alot done but I feel pretty good about what all we did get done since I couldn't spend the entire weekend working on it. Anyway some good news is that my wiring should be here today or tomorrow, so i can get to finishing the trunk.

Electrical for a Sundown 2000d and sax 100.4

An amplifier has to pull power from somewhere so the more power you can give it the more output you will have(unless it a regulated amp) which is why a 16 volt system was suggested. Also just because you run a 16 volt system doesn't mean you will increase your efficiency as well. But if you do not go with 16v then I would say do the big 3, a rear battery and alternator upgrade and you shouldn't have any problems with that.
