You should be able to go down to 75 inches of port per 18 and not hear any audible port noise. If you wan to minimize port compression keep it above 115 inches per sub.

Besides. EVERYONE is running their transducers at least to 10 percent distortion and WELL over 40 percent in the sub stage. Why would they give a peanut butter jelly sand which if their amp is set to <1%?

The spiders are sandwiched together in a press so the top or bottom joint would have to fail in order for them to delaminate. Which could be possible by bottoming out on 4k. Teric's sub that he sent to me and I pulled apart one of the spiders which is a "soft" spider and no longer used was like a potato chip. Never seen anything like it. I think either 1) the glue between the spiders at the former has squeezed outward and that is what's cracking 2) the inner spiders have turn to potato chips. Which is unlike as they are all the same from the same pile if stock. Id expect at least one top or bottom spider to be brittle. 3). They were bottomed out with 2.5 too much power and either the bottom glue joint is loose it the kapton around the aluminum has separated and broke and that's what's cracking. Can't really know unless I pull it apart and expect. Besides the one I recones for Terec no one else has contacted me with this issue. Nor do the 10 or so drivers I have on hand that were free aired on the Klippel to 40mm one way for 10 minutes plus countless hrs of play time have this cracking sound. The only thing I can do is replace faulty ones with recones and inspect any that are returned for warrantee work.

This is why I want him to remove one. Yours had a cracking sound and his is squeaking like a spring or something rubbing on wood. If it makes a noise out of the box and is not coil rub then it's covered by warranty. Nick has been using these spiders for 10 years so I need to figure out if it's a bad batch of spiders or some issue that i'm causing during the build process. Either way the customer will be covered if it's a defect of any kind.

Remove one the bad ones from the box and make another video with it uninstalled.

Besides nadcicle you are the first to say anything about a noise. Does it do it when playing or just when push on one side of the coil with your hand?

It's time to start working on amps for future availability so I need to figure out what features that need to go into the product so I can have samples developed. The amp part is easy, it just needs to amplify input signal. We are gonna let a DSP do all the hard work. This means NO crossover networks in my amps. Only a knob for gain matching. But the question is what features do we really need in the DSP? NOTE: I HAVE A NDA WITH MY SUPPLIER. I CAN NOT AND WILL NOT DUE TO LEGAL PURPOSES GIVE ANY HINT TO WHAT SUPPLIER WILL BUILD MY DSP. DO NOT ASK So, below are a few features I think it needs. Give your input let me know what else would be necessary or beneficial. 1) PEQ or graphic. I'm 99.999999999 percent sure PEQ. A mic will be needed so it'll be a learning curve for most but I think it's worth it. 2)time alignment of course 3)ability to auto eq with available third party software 4)unbalanced input / output (balanced would be cool but damn near nothing else would be and I'm told running non balanced on a balanced DSP can cause issues) 5)analog / RCA inputs and outputs 6) calibrated mic to come with DSP 7) 3 way with sub capable 8) low voltage input for tablet sources, but what type plug?

As of now I'm expecting to receive the motors the second or third week of October. I have an order from precision due in the 12th and more soft parts due in a week or two. I should have nearly all the softparts built up by the time the motors arrive so I will only have to drop in the softs parts and package the subs minimizing build time. I'll have better time frames as the weeks go by. The next order of motors will be placed as soon as this order arrives. That will put the next order arriving around the end of January.
