The DSS section is a paid forum section dedicated to the advertisement of the Direct Sound Solutions brand and it's customers.
Endless bantering will not be tolerated. If member or especially a moderator does not agree with the specifics of someone else's post, notate your point and move on. If need be the issue can be brought to an open forum section, the technical section for examples.
The same goes for OP's do NOT stir the pot. If you do not agree with a remark, notate that you have heard their point of view and that WILL be the end of it.
In here I am GOD and I will not allow activity that shames the DSS and SSA brands.
If anyone has issues with this take it up with Aaron or Mark.

First off the dats is a hunk of junk. The specs it's showing is proof of that.
Assuming you used the added mass method it's calculating a mms of ~10 percent more with a Cms that's nearly identical and a motor force factor that's enormously different. It not physically possible.

If you look at the "distortion analysis" graph you will see that the suspension and inductance is inducing 30-40 percent distortion (in other words playing 40 percent more signal than the pink noise being played).
This is why you have to look at specs that deal with linearality and distortion in context.

Is the suspension stiffer on the rearward stroke? Probably not a big deal for a subwoofer though.
Distortion caused by the suspension in the sub realm is inaudible. But this is a common occursnce in most every suspension. You'll see some transducers with spaced spiders and the bottom set will be inverted to help offset the nonlinear action of the suspension. But the edge (surround) plays a huge roll also.

LOOK AT THE HUGE DIFFERENCE IN PARAMETERS. The LSI shown is a bit different than the ones I publish because this is an instant snapshot at zero xmax during testing. I take 10 points throughout the testing and average them to get average LSI parameters. Below is the set up for the klippel. Basically telling it how much power to give it and how to limit excursion based on percentage parts limits (limits used when distortion can become audible). Below is how far the cone moved during large signal identification.

If I have to recone I hope Julian can help me since he local and knows if stuff

going for spl..yea maybe 3.5 that is just me though..Are you seriously suggesting 4 cu ft for a 12"?
Uh no, I'd stick with the manufacturers recommendation. A box that large tuned that high WILL sound horrible.

That truck has had the same speakers in it since 2006. He pressure washes them weekly. The MDF boxes had to be replace with birch about two years ago but the speakers are in perfect condition.

I made this popular. In the late 90's mobile one autosound built an impala for master p full of Bazooka equipment. One of the things installed was a couple pair of 6x9 marines
Somewhere around 2003 I installed 8 pair of 6x9's under a 69 caprice droptop for New Orleans Saints tightend Boo Williams. Soon after I was installing on average 100 pair a week. The people who couldn't afford my work went to radio shack and bought PA speakers.
I had a 2005 Tacoma with 48 pair of 6 1/2 marines in vacuum formed abs enclosures under it.

A 4 inch port is WAY too small you need a minimum of 30 square inches of port. With only 12.5 inches of port you are encountering major port compression. What you have now is basically a big leaky sealed box.
The box needs to be 1.25 cft tuned to 32hz with a minimum of 30 inches of port.

You will need two 10's with 22.9 mm of Xmax each to compress the same amount of air as one Ethos 12.
Then you have to consider gain from the enclosures.

The Ethos should be closer to 1.125 - 1.5 net ported.
You will be hard pressed to find another sub or set of subs on the same power that sound as good and as loud in a box 1cft net sealed.

All series you have sir!
Klippel results(yes I Klippel everything) for the Ethos are on the website. Expected specs on the Trident is in the Facebook link.

I sure did and like I said if you have a problem with it go whine to Mark and Aaron. If they want to deal with your nonsense over my money tell them I'll be happy to take it else where.
