Help pick sun/components, 2012 Gmc crewcab
codester replied to james_8997's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Ive had both the Type s Components and the Hertz Hsk's. I really quite liked the Alpine Type S components for the money. My (Personal) opinion with switching to the Hertz was. More output overall, Highs were clearer but not harsh, also midbass was better. Ive listened to other high end speakers in a sq truck Hertz MLK components and found them super harsh, sounded great but after a few mins my ears felt like they were bleeding. My Hertz Hsks were the first speakers to actually give me goosebumps. My friends will come to my truck just to listen to new music in my truck. -
Nice man, Post some pics of it. I'd get Knu to send me new cables but shippings the killer and I had other ones and have it all wired already. Shipping to me in Canada would be same amount as the cables are worth, really happy with everything else from there.

Please Help An Old School Basshead Find My Long Lost Low Bass
codester replied to JosephSprague's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I second Quentin, I have 2 15" Icons tuned to 32hz and wow they are AMAZING on the lows but are still super tight for rock etc. -
U like the karma ss wires? I got a set of 4 channels and they were broke only worked if I pushed the cord in.

Try finding a set on black Friday sale. U won't regret the hertz hsks -
Ya I knew it wasn't quite right but still you gotta consider when ppl have only had kickers etc in prefab enclosures any fi sub would be like a lambo to the Honda (kicker)
-
Ya its like saying should I buy a Ferrari or a lambo. One may suit u better but if u buy the wrong one you still have a Ferrari or a lambo. Definately could have done alot worse
-
Which is better ( Fi 15 inch bl or a Kicker l7 15 inch)

A 15" zcon with a crescendo bc2000d would work great together and wouldnt require a bunch of batteries -
That is so cool!

For what its worth I had the alpine type s components and was very happy with them for the money. I got them for just under $100 and had em on fairly low wattage 60rms and really liked them. Mid bass was pretty good and the highs were crisp and clean but not super harsh. Good luck. Try and listen to the set if possible first before you buy. It will sound quite different in a vehicle but it will give you a bit or an idea on display.

Need advice on purchasing used 2005 RE XXX 15
codester replied to sexterra's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I was worried about the age as well. Id love an SP4, but its a little outside my price range and intended use, I'm budgeting about $350 give or take for a 15" or 18" for my new setup so i figured if I could score an XXX with a box for that I'd be ahead. So for my $350, ive been looking at the Icon 18", Death row 15", Fi bl 18" or bl 15" + options. Any recommendations or others I should consider around there? Im not going for spl competitions, just something that can get low and loud while retaining good musical quality. My 2 icon 15"s get very low and loud but I'm amazed at the crispness of the sound. Sound amazing playing some slowed sub 30hz music then switch to a fast rock or metal song and you'd think I had two sealed tens only the icons have a lot more punch. I haven't personally owned the others and have heard good things about all those subs but damn I love my Icons. plus the logo and inverted dust cap is so sexy! -

Looking forward to the build! I just put two 15" SSA Icons In my Dakota, box is 7.2 cubic feet tuned to 32hz via a 5x20.25" slot port if I remember right. Kills the lows and has serious punch on rock etc. Got Ram Designs to Design it.

New Sexy Surround Sundown Subs? -
You need one of these turbine blowers! i sell these tractors and attachments up in Canada, they are handbuilt in Ohio.

So at a tuning of 32hz I should set my ssf to around 24-25hz safely? (given all other settings are correct)
-
Ya that's what I thought. Gonna do some checking up and make sure its wired at 1 ohm. It was so impressive with 200 watts just was hoping it would be a lot more. Very happy with it though. Sounds amazing

Ya its really nice. He had an 06 f350 6L that was having some issues so he decided to trade it in. Got to drive it from work today and wow lots of power, quite and drives so much nicer than his 06. His new truck is a 2012 f350 lariat with Nav and premium sound. Has levelling kit and he's putting on a chrome west in bumper
