Sound deadener that lost it's adhesive quality

I tried to post a pic of it but it didnt work....says "Fat Mat" on it.
  2. I bought a large roll of "Edead" (From Elemental designs when they were still in business) sound deadener about 5 years ago, and it was stored in my garage in a cool dry place and I just came across it and decided to use it for my current system. However when I peeled back the white plastic it's not very tacky at all. I wonder if it was like this when I purchased it 5 years ago or if it got this way from sitting around for 5 years? Is there a shelf life on sound deadener? It still has a little bit of tackiness left, is there any way I can salvage it and use it? Is there something I can apply to it that might reactivate the adheasive? Or what about applying another type of adheasive like contact cement or something similar? I'm hoping I can still use it, even if its just on horizontal surfaces like the floor...What do you guys think? Thanks!

Beware! Skar Audio poor customer service

If you read my post, you'll know that my needs were met when I initialy bought the VVX 15s which I also stated in the recent email I was satisfied with. Back in 2011 before I bought the VVX 15s I have over a dozen Emails of Kevin and I going back and fourth with questions and answers. So based on that experience when it came time for another system design I sought Skar and Kevin out. The problem is since that time obviously Skar audio has gone downhill with support because there is ZERO support. If I'm emailing the support addy and calling the # listed why should I have to "troll" anywhere else at all!? I don't have a facebook account (and never will) or any socail media, as I choose and dont want that level of invasion of my privacy so, no thanks. I was contacting them recently for a new system design and the Skar website has ungone changes including lack of specs.... so has the support level changed....Whis is none! Not sure how I make this any clearer for you. Skar is awful customer support. so buyer beware! again, the end.

Beware! Skar Audio poor customer service

Not defending at all, I'm just trying to understand the purpose of this thread. To warn people of terrible CS from Skar Audio. But the OP hasn't replied/updated us or even stated what he's trying to find out?Update??? on what exactly? Still ZERO respone from Skar. Already bought other subs, so to late now anyway and have no interest at this point at all on getting specs I wanted originaly. Yes, I don't come here much so call me newb or whatever, but have been doing car audio for over 30 years and just because I don't live on this forum doesnt mean I dont know when I'm being given no customer support from a supplier. Its really not complicated to return a customers phone call or respond to my emails. Considering Skar says in an automated response to my emails; ".....actively trying to stay on top of responding to them within our two hour guaranteed response time as promised!" A-hem...Yea, well its been 12 days. I pasted in a chain of emails I sent Skar to show you a string of what I asked and sent. With NO RESPONSES and 12 days passed....I also left 3 voice mails to the # on Skar's website. None of my calls were returned. So if you start at the bottom and scroll up you can see the emails. I just removed my phone # and email for purposes of posting here. Skar audio customer support is a joke. Hell of a way to run a business.. The end. Please help. I called yesterday and left a message about this also. 570-xxx-xxxx Thanks From: To: support@skaraudio.com Subject: RE: VVX 8" specs Date: Thu, 24 Jan 2013 14:49:59 +0000 Can someone help me with specs needed? What is the Xmaxx specs for the new 18" zzx sub and 8" vvx sub ? Thanks From: To: kevin@skaraudio.com CC: support@skaraudio.com Subject: VVX 8" specs Date: Wed, 23 Jan 2013 04:38:08 +0000 Hello, What is the one way Xmaxx spec for the VVX 8"? what would be the round port dimensions for a 28HZ tune? and optimum box size? I bought the VVX 15's off you in 2011 and still love them! Thanks All i'm seeing here is chit from 2009 that Kevin supposedly did, and in any event there is no way to prove that he made those boxes. I saw pics posted but no one posted a receipt, the boxes are horrible obviously but we don't know who made them for certain.

Beware! Skar Audio poor customer service

Pointless post? Read the title; "Beware! Skar Audio poor customer service" I posted this because had I known what I metioned earlier, I never would have purchased Skar product from the beginning. The point is to warn current and potential future customers what to expect when trying to contact them for support. NO RESPONSE! I wish I had seen a post like mine before I bought Skar audio because I would have stayed away from it. I did get lucky though and like my VVX15s and the way they sound. I just hope they never need service work done cause they likely will be throw aways now with no one answering the phone and not even Email support from Skar audio. BTW yes some specs are posted on the website but the full T/S paramers specs on the website are incomplete, which is why I was trying to contact them in the first place.

Beware! Skar Audio poor customer service

Yes, correct. I don't know whats going on with Skar Audio, but if this is how they are going to support or lack thereof, days for them are numbered. Sad.
  7. I bought 2 15" VVX subs in 2011 and even had Skar build me a custom box for them and I'm very happy with it and still am today. However, I have another project I'm designing a build for and have emailed Skar audio (Kevin) direct, and Skar audio support after I got an email saying they try to respond within 2 hours of getting an email. Well, I sent 2 more emails over the last 7 days and called 3 times and left messages on their phone number about getting specs for subs and advice on my application/build. STILL NO RESPONSE! Once a fan boy, and now disgusted with this pathetic lack of support, I no longer will be buying new skar audio products since they don't put the customer first or want to help me. It's really a shame to, cause I belive in their products. So, just a warning to current and potential customers, dont expect any support from them via email or phone.
  8. I want to use 2 RLi 10s in a 1.5 cubic foot net sealed box with 1800 watts RMS power on them @ 1 ohm. Will the subs handle that kind of power being that are only rated at 500 watts RMS? Also, what size voice coil do these subs have? Thanks, Bill
