    Backup camera options

Forgive me if this is in the wrong section, I figured "General" was most appropriate, feel free to move if it's not, just don't flame me too hard. Yes, I know this has nothing to do with sound! With that said, I want to add a backup camera onto my truck for my Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT. I'm overwhelmed with the amount of options out there. I believe CCD gives a better image than CMOS. Just not sure even where to start and what to look for, if anyone is experienced in this department. I mean, Christ. Look at it. Same amount of options at Al & Ed's, SonicElectronix, Pacific, WoofersEtc, etc. http://www.al-eds.com/Back-upForward-facing-Cameras-c439.html Thanks.
  2. A pair of 4-ohm DVC GCONs are on the way. I'd like to think that up to $300 could get me into a decent quality 1-ohm stable amp to drive these. I have a run of 1/0 OFC to power this. I know what the numbers say, but you guys know the real world on what I could/should use to power these. Prefer to buy something used/taken care of; I think I can get more for my money that way. Looking around, some options that I *think* would be good are Soundstream (Reference), Audioque, Sundown Audio, Crescendo...probably a bunch of others. Just looking for some guidance. If it's been hashed out already, please point me there while I search!
  3. Hey all, New here, but not to forums. Found this site through CarAudio/DIYMA or something. I have limited knowledge of car audio stuff, I haven't installed or had anything nice to listen to for 10 years now. Truck is an '07 Ram Mega Cab, so I have ample space behind the rear seats. So far I have: Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT Focal 165 V30 JBL GTO 1004 (on the way, $100 recent Best Buy sale) Have my wiring (AudioTechnix 1/0 OFC), need terminals/distro blocks/etc. AudioTechnix 80mil sound deadener Currently I'm reading about and researching subs/amps, and whether I want Luxury Liner Pro, or SDS CCF + MLV for the last pieces of the puzzle. I read rules 14-18, so I will not use SPL/SQ/"""SQL"""/daily to describe my use! I will just call it a non-competition truck that I want to sound great, and get the best value for my money. I'm not aiming to get loud at a certain frequency, nor am I looking to completely accurately reproduce the audio as it was recorded. Just clear and hard hitting. I've spoken with pro-rabbit (Dustin/DC Creations) a bit about doing my enclosure. When I get out there and get exact measurements, we should be able to get a better idea of exactly what direction we can go in. Initial measurements give me about 4.5 ft^3 to play with. I realize this isn't a ton of info, but I want to do some more reading first before I ask stupid questions.
  4. Saw that...May be an OK deal, but I think I can find more for my money...
  5. Alright, I'll do some more looking around, thanks!

I see they just released the ND-BC6. Looking for more info on it now. Can't seem to find a whole lot.
  7. Thanks for the input Aaron. I'll continue to scour the classifieds for one of those. Most likely one of the ones in my initial post I guess, unless someone has any other ones I should also look at (high quality/used).
  8. I just didn't want to put too much into it, have an issue, and be hung out because they were improperly powered. I have heard that the 750w is a pretty conservative rating on these though.
  9. Does anyone recall what it was running during the Black Friday sale? I didn't even check. Just curious.
  10. That bad boy is 2250 x 1... I thought you wanted the capability of producing more so you aren't maxing out/taxing the amp; but is there a threshold of how far over?
  11. Going to want something sooner...Pre-Order Yours! Arrives 31st Jan 2013

The newer Pioneer CMOS or previous CCD? I assume you've seen a few different ones? Thanks for the input so far...
  13. As stated in my intro thread, I have an '07 Ram Megacab. I have a decent amount of space to play with behind my rear seat. Dimensions are below. Ignore the dual sub design, it's just a photo to put the dimensions on. Original idea was a pair of sealed 12s. I talked with pro-rabbit and he suggested a single ported 12 GCON as one option, until he had exact measurements. He's been super swamped lately (understandably), so I'm trying figure out what I should purchase during this Black Friday sale while I can still save money. I've had all sorts of suggestions (whether they work with my space or not, I don't know) in my intro thread here: http://www.soundsolu...__fromsearch__1 . I may have a little more front-back depth once I completely pull everything apart, but this is what it's looking like. Single ported. Dual sealed. 12" or 15". GCON, ICON, XCON, ZCON. Overwhelming choices. I do not have an amp yet, but I will get the proper one for whatever sub choice is decided. Goals: "I read rules 14-18, so I will not use SPL/SQ/"""""SQL"""""/daily to describe my use! I will just call it a non-competition truck that I want to sound great, and get the best value for my money. I'm not aiming to get loud at a certain frequency, nor am I looking to completely accurately reproduce the audio as it was recorded. Just clear and hard hitting." is what I stated in my original thread. Thanks for any input!
  14. Good question. That's Dustin's job to figure out!(kidding)That's a rough/close measurement. I need to dig behind the seat and get a final exact measurement. The flaps behind the seat can be removed, or trimmed. The Fox Acoustics box (yellow boxed image) appears to downfire, so there is plenty of space. I think removing those flaps completely will be the best option. The SubThump box specs 6.5", but when I chatted with him, he said it can be modified to accomodate a deeper sub: "Also, with our box you are not necessarily limited to 6.5" of depth. We actually have two more depths available. With the addition of a spacer ring, we can go up to 7.25" very easily. I also have a special deep design that can hold massive 12s up to 8" deep." I'm pretty confident once the final numbers are in to Dustin, we can get the 7" to work. http://www.foxacoust...e=DMC%2D212%2DS http://subthump.com/...-Amp-Space.html
  15. Crap, I brain-farted on the resistance too. OK got it.
  16. Two...If I understood, you said we could fit a pair?So if I use a quality amp capable of putting out the needed watts at 1-ohm, that would be the way to go then...
  17. No bias of course right? I am going to go read up on if I should get the 2-ohm or 4-ohm. I don't have an amp yet. I am thinking the 4-ohm so I can run them at 2-ohm. Any specific input while I am researching, or a known link where it's been hashed out?
  18. Hell, you are right next door! I'm in Pasadena.
  19. Think I'm going to give the GCONs a go.
  20. Oh wow, that is right up the street; I'm in Pasadena. Have to see if I have anything going on that day.
