Hey all. I've been riding with the ICON sealed for some time and want to put it in a ported box. Really not sure how to make sure the design is correct or even how to work WinISD but below is what I've gathered. I was posting on diymobile and got some help and was suggested a ported box, 2.0ft^3 @ 30hz will give the flattest response. I'm located in Columbia. I'm interested in meeting, checking out your RX-8, if it's finished. When we first spoke I believe you were just getting into it. If you'd like to flip this from the thread to PM's so we're not spamming the thread section I'd be happy to exchange information. Your expert support would be unbelievably helpful as I've kinda had a hard time getting where I am, over the last year haha. (Bad installers and bad advice got my nowhere)

I don't remember where you are located exactly in MD, but MD is not large and I like to drive so yes I am not far from you haha.

I read your past responses to other topics and it was to my understanding that the 3d model for DL was tuned to 31hz?

#5363 For Valued Customer!

So I am order #5363 and I just received an update from UPS Tracking (I had to actually click the tracking number on my order). Departed 1/30/2013 and will arrive 2/6/2013 (My birthday is 2/7) Can't wait and will be putting pictures up in my build log very soon. This is for 1 12" ICON

Never said it wouldn't and that it isn't =). I know everyone is complaining about the UPS tracking not updated, so the only clear way to tell is by feedback from us who ordered during the sale

Just wanted to see if anyone had their subs pop-in or any update on shipments (Aaron don't worry about posting I know you guys are hard at work)

I'm 5363 and nothing here. Just waiting on 1 12" ICON. I ordered Dec 15th and received an update saying "Awaiting Shipment" on the 18th. So From the 18th I'm hoping no longer than a month but with Christmas/New Years I'm adding an extra 2 weeks.

I just wanted to shoot my opinion here since I just met Don the other day, to pick up his product. First off I just wanted to say...DO NOT BUY ANY OTHER SOUND DEADENING PRODUCT. PERIOD. I am located about 20 minutes outside Baltimore, MD. I noticed Don was located in Manchester, MD (about 35 minute drive from my home) and asked if it's possible to come pick up the product instead of having it shipped. He said of course. He's already saved me tons of money, NOT having to pay for a shipping cost. Some companies may not allow that just so they can get some more money from shipping. On my way up there, my dumbass forgot to bring my measurements of the doors/trunk (the only things I'll be applying deadener too). When I get there, he comes out, introduces himself and he's already got a pen, paper and measuring tape in his hand. Bada-bing, he takes all the measurements and we go inside. He works inside a shop, out of one room (crazy). Don provided OVER-THE-TOP customer service and made sure everything I wanted was taken care of before he threw in his opinions. Now here's the kicker...and where shit literally came out of my pants. After we have already discussed a time to meet via e-mail (this is before I go meet him in person to pick up the product) he e-mails me saying..."Erik, I keep cosmetically flawed materials around that I can give you for FREE" This guy is so flippin confident in his work that HE GAVE ME HIS MATERIALS FOR FREE! Charged me 20$ for some vinyl cement and some Velcro but...FOR FLIPPIN FREE. He said he doesn't sell anything that is dented, nicked or even cut wrong (like ends of rolls for MLV)...I was literally speechless. Now I'm not saying he'd give all of his cosmetically flawed materials away for free (so don't go spamming him for it!) but based off my experience, the experience he gave me, his knowledge, professionalism and just being an overall great guy, I will NEVER go to anyone else. I hope this helps anyone trying to choose a deadener for their vehicle.

I'm probably going to get the ICON. Presents well in sealed since I'm now leaning more towards a sealed enclosure.

Just to clarify. I'm looking to run the 12" in a ported enclosure. Also I'd like mostly SQ so if anyone would elaborate, i've heared sealed is more SQ ported is louder. I've been looking around for a 12" and my fingers were looking deeply at the Fi Q, until I tried to understand what all of their options do. The information is so lacking and even misleading that I couldn't make myself to buy a from a company that produces "quality" equipment but can't even describe their options correctly. So now I'm looking at the 12" ICON. Not only have I read it's great sealed it produces great SQ I was interested with going ported with the Q but now that I think of it, I'm not willing to give up my entire trunk. Could anyone with experience with the 12" ICON, with a sedan (I drive a 2003 Accord), give me some info regarding how the SQ would be in the trunk of a sedan. Some more information... My components will be Image Dynamic 6.5" CXS62 V2 powered by ARC FD2100 Amp (95 RMS x2). I will be removing my rear 6x9's in the deck to avoid distortion. I will be building my own sealed enclosure for the woofer by the specifications from the website. Oh and the subwoofer will be powered by a PA1500 Nakamichi Amp (1200 RMS)

So tell me again why I'm buying a product from a company who can't accurately describe their product, nor accurately describe their options for them or even put them on the "Options Explained" sticky. I don't think you can be blaming misprints when this company is so bent on quality. I'm pretty sure their buyers want to know if its a triple or quad. Not have to fish for an answer Internal Lead isn't explained. I had to watch the video to figure out everything, why do I have to sit through a 5 minute video when I can read it in 30 seconds? On top of that, my headset broke for my computer so I had to watch it somewhere else. Even more tedious work for the already tediousness of building a system that I'm learning about as I do it. Again, I'm not trying to sound like a douchebag but maybe if someone would like to message me via PM so I can get all of my questions across, situated and confirmed I think this would go over better.

I am not trying to be a douchebag but nobody answered my question until now. I've been on many forums and the lack of help is disappointing. I'm just struggling to build this system. I had to google "Internal Lead" to find out what it really is. Now that I know that, the Internal Lead Option means what you said. "An Internal Lead means the Tinsel Leads are sandwiched between the spiders rather than tacked to the top of them for better durability and performance." Please fix the website so that when "High QTS : No" is selected that "I heat ring" is greyed out. Where does it say "Normal QTS = Low QTS"?

There isn't even an option for Low QTS on any of the subs.

I will be building my own enclosure. I personally do not have the tools but I have many places I can go to use them and have expert carpenters with me. As far as "Not being an option". They are all available, nothing is greyed out or anything so someone could really mess up if they arent careful. The only place I can go to listen to "setups" is Best Buy or some shop owned by a dope fiend with Alpines all over so I'm kind of shit out of luck and going for internet opinions. For the Alpine CDA-105, I already have it, it's not something I'm looking to purchase. Is what I'm asking difficult? I'm looking for someone to FILL THE OPTIONS IN FOR ME. SINCE IM GOING PORTED I OBVIOUSLY DO NOT WANT HIGH QTS, NO EXTRA SPIDER (I'm looking for SQ and read that adding the extra spider reduces that), I DO NOT WANT THE I HEAT RING (Because since I'm not choosing HIGH QTS It automatically becomes Low QTS?) What is internal lead? Dual 2 Ohm Cooling: Yes p chamfer: yes high qts: no spider: no I heat ring: no internal lead: ?? Once someone can clarify this then I'll be glad to move on to enclosure builds. I'm basing that the Fi Q 12" will be better in a ported enclosure by punching in the numbers provided into WinISD. If someone would like to teach me how to use WinISD maybe I'm doing it wrong? But I havent gotten to far, just punched in the numbers and it came up with vented enclosure.
