    10 & 12 sub combo box/system

i absolutely will. im doing a project in the car today. taking out seats and carpet to add some raam mat and ensolite to dampen road noise. ill figure out where i can go beyond the sealed enclosure i already have, try to draw something up and post figures and a pic. thanks again for being so helpful!

    10 & 12 sub combo box/system

wow. thanks. thats humongous. i have a hatchback impreza and would like to take advantage of as much room in the back as possible. if i kept the volume and port size the same, but altered the dimensions, would it still perform correctly?

Cool. Thanks Again for all the information. I will consider building a ported enclosure.

    10 & 12 sub combo box/system

dang, thanks. i appreciate all the information. Im actually pretty happy about my set up the way it is. I just get the bug to "improve" every once in a while. The box housing the subs now is custom and works well enough. i will stick with tens. the ones i have were a hand-me-down and are about 7-8 years old. maybe i just need a different pair!

    10 & 12 sub combo box/system

dont have a 12. was thinking of adding one and removing a 10. 10's have a broader range, right? they seem to have a specific, unique sound. 12's hit much lower. I just thought it would be great to have both so as to have the punchiness of the 10 and the low end of the 12. home stereo speakers often include speakers of different sizes. why not a car?

Planet Audio anarchy 1000 http://www.newegg.co...-9SIA0AT0F00343 pair of Infinity Kappa 10's Sony head unit. anything else?
  8. here i go with my first post and a (very likely) stupid question. I want to build a box, or augment my current box(2x10") to house a 12" & 10" sub so as to realize the advantages of both. box is separated into two equal, sealed sections. lets assume i can accommodate the volume requirements of the 12 accurately enough. can I just wire them separately on each channel of my amp and let'er rip? or am I missing something?

    Rooftop car box

Quentin, good suggestion. Raammat came friday, so i spent sunday morning pulling everything out and treating the roof. I also treated the drivers door. i can already tell a difference & i will be finishing the doors, floor and spare tire/cargo area when I get time. I also played around with the box itself. i put a couple pieces of vinyl in the top portion in the larger expanses. i also injected great stuff door and window foam inbetween the interior "skeleton" braces and the actual exterior shell. there was a lot of squeaking and rubbing when going over bumps and in cross winds. no more. its much better.

    Rooftop car box

Ive searched and searched for any info about how to decrease the noise created by my Thule 686XT Atlantis 1600 Roof Box to no avail. Is that because its simply a silly thing to try since it just makes so much noise? I have done no sound damping to my Subaru Impreza, but plan to address noise coming through the floor, hood, doors and roof. my question is this: Is there something I can do to the box to get it to resonate less? Or do i simply focus on the roof and possibly, load bars and rails? Thank you very much for any help you may offer. Noah
