    New pistol

verry sexy! I just spent 2 hours cleaning my springfield 1911. I have been eyeing up the XD for a while. For 6'2 and 2bills I have little chubby midget hands, so the 1911 is a hair big, I could get a shorter trigger, that might be my answer instead of going out and getting a new gun and getting used to it. I've heard they are a pretty direct transition but easier on the hands than the 1911. verry verry sexy. I just hate to start over, I have the tritium sights and a nice barrell... plus it was sold, basicaly given to me, by someone close. It's got sentamental value. Did you have a .40 prior and how does the XD rate compaired to it? I am partial to the .45 myself, although I did fire a 9mm that was a blast to shoot! Anyway, sorry for going off topic! I love the look of the gun and .40's can be fun! I'm sure you will love it, go out and enjoy at the range!

    Technoe music

VNV nation is awesome.... A bit industrial. Their music is like floating in liquid energy. Some of it is more industrial and fast but a good deal is pretty .. I dunno. Epic, ethereal, introspective feeling... I don't know how to describe it, it's like "coco flavored mids bass" lol. I recomend they are very euro IMO. Good call on that band. I am a big fan of BT, and underworld.

    some good component speakers

Components are much easier to do decent IMHO. To perfect.. well that's not your goal... but Beleive me I'm a moron and I can figure out some component installs. Maybe you could ask a friend who has done it before for help or some of the guys on this board. They canj walk you through it. You will get a better results in the end if you are open to learn and DIY. If the speakers are the same size it wouldn't take more than an hour at most and then you would know what is going on. Good luck either way. Shops scare me personaly, I don't think any are reputable at least in my area currently unless they are verry verry low key and I have never heard of them.

    $7,000 Speaker Cable

I have always wanted to market some extravagent liquid or gass filled "wires" and make themout of glass with gold/platinum ends and since they were made of glass only made to order and not flexible. Pluss I could always claim it's so much more "transparent". It would be more breakable, Need to have accesories to use it i.e. things to hold it up off the ground to reach the speakers, It would be mega elite and made to order, and any time you move you would need new "cables". I think it's just about the best way to over charge and maximise my earning potential due to nesicary repeate sales when someone changes one little thing. Also I could use gaskets instead of making a seal with the glass to the posts so there is a change I would need to "recharge" the "cables" every year or so. And charge double for the set that is directly connected to protect against degridation. It's about the only thing I can see thats better than that kryogenicaly frozen cable to allign the atoms.. or the over the phone room phase alignment. =P We all know some pure copper is better that other pure copper.....
  7. Bump, I wish it was in my budget...

    not to sound stupid ?

Which dealer did you purchase it through or was it old boys club deal? It's fine if it is. I also wanted to thank you for recomending it to me. I went out and sampled a few pio premiers, and I was actualy impressed. I am not used to the menue/controlls, but I will be. As for the look, I didn't like it at first but I think it's growing on me. the clasic 2 knobs of Home Hi-Fi. Reminds me of my aunts old turn table/receiver unit... especialy with the silver color... which I'm not sure I like yet, but for that price with all the features and a built in Mic for Eqing and the other features... I think I'll be super happy for a long time. Thanks guys! I hope your all ready in a few months when I come at you with all the 2 way compnent which speaks should I get threads and then the constant tuning and tweeking untill it's just right threads.... etc. Audio is an adiction and I should be able to qualify for a medical leave so I can just build it all and get it done I think without all that pesky work getting in the way.

    SOOO EFFFFIN PISSED!!!!!!!

I have had my car broken into 2 times at work... stole the HU with no face on it.. and the few cents in change in the change cup. they litteraly ripped the lock right out of the door. completely took it out and f'ed the door. I feel your pain man. I agree I wish people could just get a job and get their own crap. If it was stolen from the garage you may be able to get home owners to cover it. As for suburbs being safer... I disagree completely all the jack ass car shopping jerks from my school would go out the the burbs to do it, and the kids in the burbs did it there too. I think there is more of that type of crime in the burbs than the inner city. In the city you know everyone. Easy to know who jacked your shtuff. I hope you get it all sorted out though man. Good luck with the alarm. I'm looking for one of those myself.

    not to sound stupid ?

I'm trying to avoid used if at all possible.. but I might go that route. Also, I probably wasn't clear I tend to drone on. I have decided on the pio 880. The features quite outweigh the alpine when I did a side by side and called both alpine and pioneer to talk to the "tech team" frankly pioneer was friendlier and more helpful and offered info where as alpine didn't want to waste their time with me on the phone anyway. And if it comes down to style I like the LCD screen and white LCD from pioneer more. Just the silver color and dual knobs threw me off. Thank you though Neon.

I actualy have been reading up on that unit quite a bit... It's grown on me quite a bit. That is my next purchase... Now I just need to find one for that 300 price point. Anyone know of a place that can get it shipped to MN for no more than $333.33??? The G/F wouldn't like me spending 200 even.. I'll have to buy her car something nice now... lol I think woofersetc has it for 329+ shipping and I have GOT to be able to beat that. It comes with quite a few features that the alpine is just plain missing... I like the look of the alpine, but the pio is growing on me... I'm convinced. I wish I didn't have to move crap today. Thanks for explaining how to work out this active cross over thing to us noobs You guys rock!

    Full Range Home Audio Project

Have you ever heard a good full range setup? my guess is perhaps never even a reasonable one. I have in fact. for some reason it just didn't trip my trigger. Maybe I listen too loud. It just feels deeper when I listen to it. I like the way it I can feel the mids... Maybe it's all mental.... I like the tweeter, mids and sub combo. Just works... I'm really impressed with your work and how fast you did it neon. I have never done the whole home DIY thing yet. I just might though when I move. I can't complain much however with my set up ATM. it's beautiful and sounds like a dream to me... that's just me though... I can't take away from the fact this will be pretty beautiful and I bet sound great, i don't doubt it... I just didn't fall in love with those kind of setups. I am going to get my hands wet in next summer and do a DIY set up for outside I think, when I move into the new house... I also plan to do a DIY sub for the HT. Sorry I didn't mean to thread jack though guys. I was really just saying that it impressed me and single driver systems rarely do. I think it's going to be beautiful. I also agree 10 fold on the copper plug... really awesome. Looks wonderfull with the natural wood grain and tone I think. The plugs on my RC's are silver in color and the fact they didn't use copper is the only cosmetic thing I would change.
  18. This is verry true, but for the past couple years I have obsessed with bass. I was trying to decide on how to do a DIY sub for the HT, now I got the truck.... and if I get caught up in thinking about mids and tweets.. Oh man...

    Full Range Home Audio Project

those look beautiful. I've never heard a full range single speaker set up I have liked, but this looks amazing for the cost if it comes close to some of the 2 ways out there... well worth it. Lookin seksay
  20. You are so right on the car audio comment. Home audio is much more proffitable, and from the sound of it yoru more honesty than snake oil and that's rare in that scene. I also wanted to thank you for this thread. I just learned more about design of a sub than I ever knew before. I love learning so much and audio, something I have a passion about, is one of the most diffocult to grasp. No one spends the time to make it easy, verry old boys club it feels at times, but this broke down allot of good info. You made this verry easy to understand and even had pictures! we love pictures. You deserve a standing ovation... or better yet, I'll have a nice lager in your name. I will promptly drink another after that so it's not lonely when I get home. Thank you sir!

for free I think not. 400 for local isn't too bad. I like to buy local #1 to suport local buisness when they are worth supporting, and if my crap goes bad on me.. well I know whos teeth to loosen. I see 300 On the net where did you find it for 239 if I may ask, sounds too good almost? I can seal that deal this week for that price and not think twice(damn I just flowed on accident ) Having a sponsor would be cool, but I really wouldn't want all that hastle. I'm not building to compete in anything at all... but cool for you man, you will go through equipment like crazy if you compete new builds etc.

    Welcome to the IHoP

a friend told me about a similar scenario. the site got back, but with great losses. i wonder how does the police find out about the sites... They throw money at it. They scare and strong arm people who may know a guy who knows a guy who knows someone... etc record labels and movie production companies have tons of liquid $$$ and can influence governments pretty easily.

Imprint does sound pretty cool.. I just didn't want to have to up front throw down another 500 bucks to use the active xover feature. Thanks for the personal experience though, it's helpfull to have that. I don't know of any shop in MN that would help me out with that imprint feature, and I refuse to pay what the local shops ask for in alpine prices. I live in MN and there are no good deals going on here anywhere. I can find the 9887 for over 300 bucks less online and no tax or shipping, no one would even negotiate on that specific unit. If there was a local trust worthy small shop I would check it out I try to suport local tallent, but all we have are big box stores with jack asses working there. The only nice guy I met had his hands tied wish a 25 dollar rebate intill christmass season. Thanks for all the help guys, if anyone knows of another HU that out of the box is set up to run active Xovers let me know. I liked the look of the alpine and it seams to get good reviews but the menue system really sucked when I tried it.. but I supose I woudl get used to it. i'm am from MN...where in MN are you...if you are looking for a shop...Audio Designs in winona carries the 9887 and i think they have it listed at 400...plus the 9887 also has a graphic or parametric eq, ipod interface, good processing the active x-over, and who knows what else...it's a hell of a deal for a HU either way...PM me and i could talk to someone at the shop...i have a few friends over there WHAAAAT swetness. I'm in MPLS PMing you my man.
