    icon 12 sealed

After displacement my box was 1.1 cuft. I added some stuffing as I do with all my sealed boxes. If you model the icon on a program youll see it will perform well from .85-1.3 cuft. I had less power and like an enhanced low end (not necessary with the icon in retrospect) so I went towards the larger spectrum. Very happy with the result.

Ok. I guess Ill post the pics and hopefully you will add it to the gallery. I love the ICON. It keeps sounding better Car is 2005 Ford Escape Limited. Due to breakins in my previous rimmed up car, I kept everything stock as far as the car. I was set on gps and a double din but I wanted an active setup so I got this Eclipse avn6600 for a great deal. Im very content with it and it blends well with the interior. Had to enlarge the ford 1.5din opening but I got it flush. and solid. If you look by the shifter you see the adjustments for the KAC-x1r which is exactly like my old beloved basscube. So to compensate for lack of crossover for a two way active, I checked out the Kenwood kac-x4r and kac x1r. Pretend they dont say Kenwood. These are amazing amps. 5 bands of peq for front, rear and the line out, time allignment, and digital crossovers/phasing. Also full range type d with a small footprint. Ca&e reviewed them and the x4r provided 135 watts a channel at 4 ohms and is rated at 100. I built a false floor with a basin for the amps to not loose any trunk space. For hauling, I simply remove the icon. Ill spare you the fabrication. There are two fans on each amp and a fan on each side on the basin creating a nice flow of air. no amp covers with covers To protect the amps I whipped up this just for a stealth look. I will eventually use grill metal and do something nice, but for now its fine. There are fans in each end of the basin and two in each amp. Excuse the photo quality all I had was my phone and the lighting was bad. As you can see from above, all the black carpeting is a perfect match. Its all the same carpet. The speakers are Seas Lotus 7" rw165 and the tweeters are ESB Otto Milla, the same tweeter Zapco uses in the CK component set and my favorite tweeter to date and I have tried many. The mids play 80-2k and the tweets 2.5k and up. Lots of tuning and it sounds immaculate. The ICON play 80hz and down. Nicely. Stock location of speakers required active and tuning abilities and with my 7 band peq and the 15 bands on the kenwood. I have it dialed The tweets up close. All metal casing and smooth but detailed. I recommend strongly. Low FS too. And of course the ICON 12"d2. 1.2cuft sealed and working very well off 600-700 watts. Thanks SSA

Some questions on the Icon 12

I did but there's no depth measurement and the ts specs are less impressive than the icons. Also, whats up with no cone picture? Makes me expect an adire shiva looking driver.

Some questions on the Icon 12

Thanks for the responses. I suppose I can lower the crossover and focus on tuning my front stage as I have some pretty powerful midbass speakers (Zapco/ESB ck set). The reason Im moving away from sq based speakers are because I want that low end that "sq" based speakers cant have due to their thin cone and weaker motor in order to maintain an even tonal spectrum. Just looking at the Rainbow vanadiam's specs I know I can expect fast transients but the low end will be limited much like the alumapro which is considered a similar sub. Plus, not to blast rainbow as I really like their kickbass speakers and tweets, but I cant see spending that much on a sub. I will try the icon and Ill post some pics of the install and an initial review followed by a few weeks follow up. I have lots of subs to compare it to. Anyone have any used d1 12" that they are willing to part with? The cone and surround must be mint but I dont care about basket or magnet scratches.
  8. Hello. I have been looking at the Icon and it seems very impressive. I usually use SQ based sub woofers (alumapro, dayton, zapco, idq) and I have been looking for something with a little more powerful low end while retaining tonality and be under 7" inches deep. The icon looks like the best bang for buck. My favorite sub was an audiomobile mass 12 and Im trying to get a sub that had nice low end like that one to to me but I would like to try a new sub as well so I dont want a tc-9. The box is between 1 -1.2 cuft sealed and will be filled. I purchased a rockford t5001bd for this upgrade and it produces 725 watts at 2 ohms and 1014 at 1 ohm. I would prefer to keep 2 ohm load for current drain reasons and Im wondering if this will be enough power for the icon. If not, I could go 1 ohm but would rather not. Can you give me a description of the sub in comparison to the MASS? As far and blending on upper notes and the ability to maintain tone though out the spectrum it will be playing <80 hz. I have read many reviews on ported applications but fore for a sq based system in a sealed box that can get loud on occasions which I havent seen much of as of yet.
