    my daily driver

in that photo is two tc sounds passives, with one active sub. the sub pictured is a creative sound solutions subduction sdx 15. uses xbl^2. and sometimes i would swap the sdx out for other 15's i had, but the two tc sounds variable mass passives would stay. just to make sure everyone was on the same page with the passive setup on 1200rms my best score sealed on windshield was 140.1, at 30hz the passives were tuned at 26hz, would watch a lot of movies, so i kept it tuned low. my other score was on a saz2000d with a normal ported box, using a 8" aero port, and the two eclipse ti's. sorry for any confusion.

    That's impressive. Save us jeebus!!!!
  3. well i am planning on building 6 of these, i have all parts on hand, so i decided to build one, and measure it before i proceed. they will be tc2+ motors, with 6" spiders, a reproduction of the original tc1000 coil, sa8 cones, and baskets. the leads were stitched by me. the first parameters were with the coils paralleled R(e) = 1.005 ohms Fs = 38.36 hz Qts = .356 Qes = .376 Qms = 6.706 Le = .732mh mms = 112.6grams vas = .1479cu. ft. spl = 79.88 these were in series Re = 3.95 fs = 37.68hz Qts = .331 Qes = .351 Qms = 5.882 Le = 2.874mh Mms = 121.5 grams Vas = .1422cu. ft. in case any of you are used too see vas in liters those are both just a tad under 4liters. now i will build a test box see how she sounds, and if i am pleased will build the other five.

a little something i am working on

i just bought my wt3, but as of yet i still do not use any software for deciding softparts. i have built a few subs, but other than one, they have all been with motors that i am very familiar with, so i can get close too were i want, just from knowing the motor so well. i still have ten subs on hand that i built in the past with the above method, before purchasing the wt3, and i measured them all this past week, and all but one were around were i wanted them too be. the one turned out too be way off from what i intended, but it should work wonderful in a large sealed box. it explains why the damn thing was always so peaky in every different ported box i tried it in. oh well.

a little something i am working on

thank you, i wanted something light and under stated for the dustcap, so i went for plain paper, on this one i made one small boo boo with the glue on the cone by the dustcap. it can be seen in the last pic, hopefully i can get the rest perfectly clean. from a physical aspect when building subs the dustcap is without a doubt the hardest step for me. lol
  6. well back at the turkey drag show someone broke into my ride and stole all my amps, and my hu, plus some other random stuff. so i figured this is a good chance too upgrade. picked this up off of LEM43606, shipping was fast, he had everything the amp came with as if bought new, even the brown factory shipping box the display factory box is shipped in. and he went a little beyond what is necessary, and made me some vinyl decals for my car. would not hesitate too do business again with him. OH i guess i should stop being a tease and show some picks. (maybe that sounds corny, but hey i am a stereotypical white guy lol) for size reference. now i just need my mechman 320amp alt. too arrive, and pick up one more battery.
  7. not sure i would have too see what is coming up, but right now i am trying too get all this done in time to go to sbn this year. as for heading back your way, it would probably have too wait till after sbn, just because of money. this amp, the alt. and i still need another 100ah or larger batt. and enough for the trip. but i do still want too go back there to check out your wall.

    Sundown : New 2012 Stuff

No they filled a small niche in the market for long excursion subs. Unless I misunderstood Jacob is building all new baskets, and associated softparts too go with the baskets that he says will have as much cleareance as the ti baskets.

I am stoked too see someone stepping up to feel the void left by TC sounds. Depending on how these turn out my loyalty my towards TC well end up shifting.

    4hp small gap 15's

well i have built some new 15's too go in the rav4, and once i get my alt, i will be throwing the second saz2000d on them. right now i have one of my ultras in there and she does sound freakin good i need too break out the tl before i pull the ultra out though. some build pics and i have some vids that will be ready tomorrow of some of the build, with short explanations of one of my methods. the cones are salvaged from some damaged sdx 15's i have don't mind the pieces of foil that gets removed before the final glue in and in this pic is a stiff paper dust cap i glued first, as the final dustcaps i used were so big around, and the profile is so shallow that they are very flimsy, so i did not want the actual vacuum/pressure reaching the cosmetic cap.

    4hp small gap 15's

yea its fairly cheap, but i keep spending it on other stuff. i just dropped 500 on a 320 a alt for my ride, which i really needed as voltage becomes an issue after about 2 mins. at full tilt and holding revs on the engine, and i have a second saz2000d to put in. its one of those things by the time i remember that i want too buy it, i had already spent my play funds on something else

also i just finished these this evening, so it will be a bit before i can even power them

    4hp small gap 15's

sadly no. i really need too get off my butt and buy a woofer tester. it would save me so much time when trying too find what kind of box works best, with these subs i build. i usually get close as they are all tc sounds motors that i am very familiar with, and in the case of these everything used except for the cones is actual tc oem components. and these cones i used are alot lighter than the ti/al tc cones.

Got my PSI Passive Radiator -- What For ?!

pr setups are nice similar output too ported, but a smoother roll off and smaller boxes. I've ran nothing but pr's in my daily for the past two years.

    New Sundown Project Vehicle

if you are not willing to change the trans out your gonna be limited too about 700 to 800 lb ft of torque which even with an extra 2 to 3 thousand pounds will scoot lol

    New Sundown Project Vehicle

is this a duramax diesel? if so power will never be an issue I have seen chevy trucks run mid 11's without opening the motor just intake, turbo, exhaust, and tuning.

    6 8" woofers

that's nothing to be sad about. i got too hear a Toyota Camry with three sa-10's ported forward firing sealed off from the trunk on a 3k, doing mid 140's on music. six of those orphans and if you get 3k to power them wouldl be straight. you would have more cone area than two 12's, but less overall xmech, as they will only have a peak to peak of close to 2", and a 12" will have closer to 3" even with that the extra cone area will help off set the xmech deficiency which will only come into play on the very low end anyway.

    Custom NS v.2 10s

BEAST MODE !!!!!! lol only tens I built were tc9+ based. ALOT more -- which is why I wanted to use them... to get more lateral coil stability. With the heavy coil and very light moving assembly the mass balance is way off on the 10s so I have to make up for it with a bigger spider to surround distance.

    Custom NS v.2 10s

ah I got you. I have never run into coil rock on the ten inch, but the heaviest coil I ever used on a ten inch is a 4 layer round wound with a 60mm winding width. but when using the ten inch 12 spoke I find it hard to find a shallow enough cone that will allow use of an eight inch spider. I'm sure that is not an issue for actual sub manufactures as yourself. ALOT more -- which is why I wanted to use them... to get more lateral coil stability. With the heavy coil and very light moving assembly the mass balance is way off on the 10s so I have to make up for it with a bigger spider to surround distance.

those frames appear to have a bit more clearance from the surround landing to the spider landing?
