I wouldn't say competition destroys the hobby but I find that I go thru a lot less subs now that I don't use bass
cd's and do useless test tones for the mic

I knew that sub wouldn't collect dust forever..............

I tried a few DSP's..... got an Audison Bit One sitting on the floor of my closet collecting dust....
it added a slight noise floor to the 80PRS and really I gained nothing
sometimes more is not better

the 80 prs does a good job on it's own in network mode.... I ran one for 3 years and stuck it in the wifes car when I got the P99RS

If my sound system drives 4100 watts will a 270 amp Max 200 idle alternator be able to support it? Especially accounting a/c etc. If it will that would be awesome, but if not I'll just go with SSA Icons instead of xcons.
Ps I know I could probably get multiple alternators but it would be a tight fit, and personally don't have the capability so it would probably cost too much.
it's NOT going to work........... you NEED a FLUX CAPACITOR ........................

from past experience the W7 sounded bottom heavy and mushy past 3cf and jump's the nest with out a SSF.....
I was running a Crown BPX 2200.1 with the testing
nice sub but be carefull with clipping the amp...they don't like that very much and they manifest motor noise
when the gain is turned too high
personally I classify the W7 as a SQ sub...
it's loud but if your goal is just loud for the money you can do better with a sub that can handle much more abuse

to the origional poster...... you have choosen one of the best component sets period , now do some research
and work on those doors , there are a few decent build logs around that you can look at to get an Idea
what to do to properly deaden the doors and mount a baffle
I had 2 sets of these puppies in my last system ...... and as soon as the $$ allows they will be in my current install

the crackling only happens from the one speaker with the louder hissing.
both speakers hiss, 1 is louder than the other.
only one speaker crackles when pressing headunit buttons
I would check everything including every inch of wire.....I have seen flattened / pinched speaker wire and RCA cable cause noise
it's strange the way you say the noise comes with touching the head unit buttons....
that really makes no sense and almost sounds like there is an internal problem

Quotethe right speaker crackles and distorts, when u press any button on the headunit. the speaker crackles slightly if u lightly touch a button, and much louder crackle when u press the button firmly
I would try another head unit

you need to drill a hole in a place where you can get a nut and washer on the other side...
before you drill make shure it is a clean spot away from wiring , fuel lines exc....
personally I would make the shop fix it....... they should have done that in the first place
with that abortion of a ground and the hissing noise you are talking about I would also be worried about the
quality of the rest of the install and how it is set up.......

1 hour ago, Florida_Audio said:ok.... i might try this now, if i understand how to do this correctly. but i think i found the issue. ive been looking things up, and it seems that they did not scrape off the paint when grounding my amplifier.... im assuming this can cause the humming buzz sound when raising the volume.
AND when i press buttons on the headunit, the back button to exit the settings, my right speaker crackles loudly.... is this dangerous? its very annoying. also assuming its because of same ground issue....
can leaving the paint on the grounded area cause this issue, such as hissing from speakers and crackling noises when using headunit?
so how would i go about removing the pain and then re attaching the ground? i can use a flat head screwdriver to remove the paint. but i dont have any tools really to work with to reattach the screw? do i need a power drill? or can i use a regular screwdriver to place the screws back in the same hole?
how long would this take a normal person.... i dont want to deal with the same local shop again... but if it can take only 15 min they should just do it.... i would hope.
extra info, in case m5 doesnt want to read my book....
so initially with the RCA left and right properly hooked up, the left speaker sounds much lower and has much less bass than the right speaker. so i swapped the RCAs left to right, to see what would happen. It seems this fixes the problem.... super weird? it seems that both speakers sound pretty okay now.... except, when i raise the volume on headunit without any song playing, there is hissing noise from speakers. and when i balance the sound i can clearly tell that the right speaker has a louder hissing sound. so one speaker hisses much louder than the other.... and i think when i swapped the RCAs, the right speaker is slightly worse sound quality than the left, although its a bit harder to notice.
heres a picture, from what i can tell, they didnt sand or scrape off any paint at all...
can this be
that's a SHITTY ground......get rid of those screws....... scrape off the paint
use a nut , bolt and star washers so you can tighten it up properly
if a shop did this tell them I said they suck ass and should be ashamed of themselves......
that is a red neck short cut and a half and should be fixed

these components are very good for the price....crystal clear and you can feel the mid bass
they can swallow TONS of power , I'm running a Soundstream REF 2.640 bridged (640w rms ) per channel and they take it no problem
