  1. I have a buddy that ad the same problem.... the diodes in the regulator failed causing feed back in the alt

the alternator made a sizzling / buzzing sound when the car was shut off

we had it repaired and the tech who fixed it says it was getting too hot

  2. the birch has different acoustics than MDF .... I was picking up a hint of color in the bass that I wasn't use to

not as acoustically dead so I rib braced the shit out of all the interior panels ... problem solved

nicer to work with than MDF... just needs a little more TLC on the assembly

  3. I had 2 sets of the JBL 660gti in my ground pounder , they were by far the best components

I have ever owned so far and I would not hesitate to use them again  but a buddy of mine is

the main Focal rep for the BC interior ...... he just had to show of the #7 component kit to me

I'm thinking on using the Utopia's , put the midbass in the doors and the tweets and mids up

in the pillars ...  only decision is going fully active or use the cross block

if I use the cross block I can still bi amp and use time alignment ... less chance of popping those tweeters

he wanted to sell me the new Focal Utopia Ultima component set serial #002 ( pic below )but I think my

wife would divorce me and never let me see my kids again......she would probably have me commited and

    put away......  LOL

This enclosure is amazing, and it fits the car so well.

    Congratulations !  :dancing:

    ya... yay me... LOL

that's the last enclosure I build for this car , I'm going to put a fiberglass pod and sub in each corner

and build a nice amp rack and add a couple more batteries once I get my components installed

  5. this one is tuned at 30hz..... JBL's recommended tuning ( not mine ) 30hz is too peaky for my taste ....

I had the subs in my old Icon enclosure for the last couple weeks... it works out to 28hz and it sounded really good

so I put it back in this morning  .... not much room for improvement in SQ so I'm going to leave it as is for now

    Very nice once again Trevor!

I also found 28hz to be a "sweet spot" for tuning on my Icons.

That black on white really pops in the trunk!

I lost ALOT of output compared to the old enclosure but they really tightened up

this 31 band EQ on the 99 is like Audiophile porn...CRAZY flexability on the low slows

Good to know, may be going to dual 12''s in the future after struggling to get my 15" Icon enclosure in the trunk an hour ago. Try to upload pictures to my gallery and it's still not working for me as well.

Still love that enclosure you built man, its beautiful.

a dual 12" enclosure wouldn't be any smaller....I'd go with a pair of 10" with LOTS of power

I like the SQ of these things tuned flat......

LOVE this new Pioneer P99RS , I can adjust the x-over point and slope as I'm driving

now I have to add something to fill in the upper mid bass......time to go active on the top end..
