    Compact Ported Enclosure Advice/Design - SA-12

I am incredibly frustrated that Quentin came up with the perfect box design and didn't get it to me. He's a great member and I rated him 5 stars, but I never got the design he sent and he won't "resend" it for an unknown reason :/
  2. Alright I'm looking for advice on a sub box design for an Sa-12 that will give as much SPL as possible - without sounding terribly peaky. I'm willing to compromise on Spl for a frequency curve that would be acceptable for normal music listening- hip hop, rock, and country. sub is on JX 1000/1 - if you have questions about my vehicle and setup - look on my profile first under "About Me" and then ask me if the info you want is not there. Member Quentin Jarrell said "I would build the enclosure 1.75 cubic feet net tuned to 32 hertz. This will give you a 3db ripple (boost) at 35 herts and give you a F3 (-3db) at 26 hertz. This will give you the sense of exaggerated bass output. You can go smaller down to 1.25 feet but keep tuning at 32hz and do not go over 1.75 feet as group delay would be higher than desirable. " So, taking that advice into account, I would appreciate a box design that would stay within my dimensions designed to these specifications- Dimensions that would be good for me - a wedge- style box - Material- 3/4" MDF Within "constrained by" these dimensions -Its a truck- box type design 7" depth top12" depth bottom16" tall30" longTuning and design -wise 1.75 cubes NET tuned to 32 hz -Of course if it can be made smaller (less volume) without a significant compromise in audio quality or output - that would be great - if not its okay it will fit.The port on the left side when looking at the sub would be great. I would like to trim down the length if it can be made smaller I would like help with a design that would meet these specifications. I may even attempt to build this box myself if it is feasible

Yes, I am just so confused that someone would spend the time to draw a box design up and figure out the dimensions, and then not even send it/or utilize it. It just seems illogical to me.

  6. I'm thinking about a PRS-80 to replace my Kenwood KDC 896. Its a very good quality deck, but there's not many audio adjustments and the interface is hard to use while driving. Would the PRS-80 be a considerable upgrade from a SQ and ease of use standpoint? . If anyone has a better suggestion for a head unit or maybe an alternative (Sound processors) please let me know. ///M5, i never shit on anyone helping me. Alton, Impious,Shogan, and a few others helped me and i thanked them and rated them high for it and never said anything negative to them. Your comments, are rude, discouraging, and unhelpful. so i responded in kind. the problem is with you, not me. no one else on this forum has been that way to me besides you. I am also hardly the only person to think so, i have looked on other threads, and they are friendly and helpful until you add your negative two cents. i love this forum, the only problem is you., obviously, you have the power to stop other members that are helpful from helping me just because i pissed YOU off. so, thanks Asshole, i hope you feel big. Please read this carefully before you trash me, again, in an effort to improve your obvious low self - esteem.

Does anyone care about helping a customer of SSA build a box for a sub-woofer that was purchased here? Please?

    Subwoofer Break-in

Okay I'm sorry in advance if this topic has been posted about before in this forum but to my credit i did look. I just recieved my sa-12 (dual 4 ohm) from ssa yesterday and i have it on a jx 1000/1 wired to 2 ohms in a ported box thats too small for it (sorry but thats how it is) it sounds good though. I try to avoid hammering on it for too long but I do turn it up to the full 1000 watts for a few seconds at a time. I just want to break it in correctly to avoid blowing it or damaging it because i do exceed the rated power sometimes. How important is "breaking in" a subwoofer in is and if it is important, what is the correct procedure to break it in? Also what does "breaking in" a sub do that is so important?

So could i get help with a design for a 17" Tall x 8" top x 12" bottom x 30" long wedge- shaped subwoofer box tuned to 32 hz (3/4" MDF) for an SA-12?
  19. Okay thanks On that manual, i had a hard time understanding it. so both front and rear RIGHT channels on the deck are wired to both REAR channels on the amp and both front and rear LEFT channels on the deck are wired to both FRONT channels on the amplifier? or should i split the front RCA outputs on the deck to do all four channels? heres a link to a page to download the owners manual. http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/pdx-5/Specs
  20. Ill work on the RCA wiring, but is this the correct way to wire the speaker outputs together?
  21. Yes I tried hooking them up different ways but I couldn't get it to work right. I stopped before I fried something. I'll try again sometime. The shop couldn't understand the concept of only fronts and rms ratings so I'm on my own on this.
