  1. http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/pdx-5/Specs Open this page and Click on the owners manual link. I'm on mobile so I can't post a link now
  2. Well, getting help from that shop isn't going to work i just undid all the connections, and put it back to the way it was, and it is louder "unbridged" Ill need to learn some more before i try that again.
  3. I got it. Its something to do with only getting one input per channel and it causes overheating. I'll just take it to a shop to see what I did wrong. I bridged the RCAs also now.
  4. Okay guys so i bridged the amp with channel 3 connected to channel 1, channel 4 connected to channel 2. I need some help pretty bad. it sounds just as clear as it did before, about the same volume, but when i get to around 30 on the Head unit, it sends the amp into protect mode. i also turned the gains for the channels down about 1/5 turn. im worried that i may be shorting something out. it sounds almost no different than before, except maybe a little less distorted at high volume. i did not bridge the front RCAs to the rear. I'm not sure if i need to.
  5. Any tips for me on bridging my amp? i could just jumper channels 3&4 to channels 1&2, but last time i tried that i sent the amp into protection. I apologize if i caused hard feelings by incorrectly using the terms SQ or SPL, I will not do so again.
  6. I got the second Baffle done! i left this one a little larger, to add a little more mass, and because it still fits. Plus, it lines up perfectly! The difference was not night and day, but i do have an improvement in the mid range. not quite good enough for me yet, but definitely is a little better. Now i need a little assistance (or maybe some expert advice) in bridging the amplifier. Heres the wiring and the apmlifier. i was not sure if i could do the bridging in the kick panel, because that way when i want to go active, i just have to run the tweets wires there, instead of messing around behind the amplifier, which is pretty tight. . If i bridge the speaker wires, do i also bridge the front RCA's or leave the rears hooked up? Also, im probably going to need some assistance setting gains and crossovers. If i should just take it to a shop and let them mess with it, just let me know. i do have some basic wiring skills though
  7. Take it easy bro. I'm just here to learn more about car audio. Stay on topic please. If you have a problem with something i say just send me a PM . It's like taking a shit on my thread when you post stuff like that. Im really tired after work and sometimes i say stuff the wrong way, please be understanding. First ill get the passenger side baffle done. I really appreciate the positive remarks on my first try. Then Ill take some pics of my amp and wiring to see if i can get some help bridging it. or I might just take it In to the shop, if you guys think that would be smarter. Im going to wait to see what bridging the amp and the baffles do for my setup before i buy some mids. Quentin Jarrell has a design for my sub box, but he's busy or something, as its taking him awhile to get back to me.
  8. Okay. With that attitude feel free.
  9. Alright ill keep that in mind . those are pretty nice speakers. First things first though! 1 more baffle, Bridge the amp, Possibly a active capable HU, then maybe go active. And when i get a design, ill build a sub box
  10. Oh i see. well im looking for something with a little more mid-bass impact, and output, as well as sq. I'm not sure what to go for. I'll probably need to go active before i replace the mids though.
  11. Its an Alpine SPR 60 C 6.5" mid. 30 mm square wire VC. Neodymium magnet. Not exactly the greatest thing ever
  12. Thanks guys! nope its not hitting Just one more to go and then bridge the amp.
  13. I could only get one side done tonight, tell me what you guys think! The only problem i see now is the speaker isn't perfectly in line with the grill. let me know if that's a problem.
  14. Im almost done, I haven't tested for fit yet though. should i bolt or screw it to the door? Any tips? i dont really know what im doing lol
  15. Okay ill start cutting it out. Does that video work for anyone? i want to upload another one sometime, but im not sure how to do it. Any comments on the SQ would be good.
  16. What no comment on the video? How is that for SQ ? anyway, im working on some baffles, do these look like they would work? Heres a pic of inside the door panel Heres a pic of my shop
  17. Did you try again with the new link? ( I did a new link- here https://plus.google.com/photos/103700741015793191801/albums/5676924047589319649/5881871955783496610?banner=pwa&gpsrc=pwrd1&authkey=CICE1ve94fOJDQ&pid=5881871955783496610&oid=103700741015793191801 Yeah i may be shopping for a set of mids sometime . Know of any good ones? jk thats a bad question, ill just look. Know of any that are Made in america?
  18. I edited my post take a look at the video and let me know what you think. the dynamat is retardedly on the exterior panel, i put it there to minimize noise from the traffic, and also i didn't want to have problems re installing the interior panel.(and i didn't have a clue what i was doing) I put a little, not much, on the backside of the metal that the speaker is bolted to. Heres the video again. Recorded with a GS4. its pretty close to how it sounded (Not quite as clear tho) https://plus.google.com/photos/103700741015793191801/albums/5676924047589319649/5881871955783496610?banner=pwa&gpsrc=pwrd1&authkey=CICE1ve94fOJDQ&pid=5881871955783496610&oid=103700741015793191801 Im going to build a baffle soon
  19. Heres a pic of my speaker install, and the door panel that goes around the speaker and heres a link to the video that may work - It was recorded with my Galaxy S4. when i replayed it through bluetooth, it sounded very similar to the what it origionally sounded like. sorry if its not the best, i took it after working 7 hours on truck tires and I was pretty tired:/ https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/uGyFXlH8YaNvLk4JCxYmsM8DDe7NDed5l14vuqIhEUA?feat=directlink
  20. That looks like it would work for me. Are those prefabbed? If so, where did you get those? I notice that they do not do anything for behind the speakers. does it matter how large the enclosure (door panel) for the speaker is? I looked at my install, and they do have one of those plastic rings around the speaker, along with a bracket.
  21. I have a video of the sound taken with my new GS4 , it is a pretty accurate reproduction with just a little mic distortion, not much. It should give you guys an idea of how it sounds. and i also have a few pics of my speaker install, but im not sure how to post them, as my upload limit is full. Ill try Picassa
  22. Okay I knew that the type rs were a little weak in midrange, but when I mentioned that, I was told it was the installation. I think it may be a little of both. I finally got some pics of my install, I'll upload them later when I get back from work. Maybe that will clear some stuff up For now, I may not be able to go active yet due to limitations from my current Head unit.
  23. Well at least i didn't skimp on the speakers . - again, i am on a budget temporaraly. This is what i was looking at - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9441_Metra-81-4300.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=productads&device=c&network=g&matchtype=&gclid=CIenx9e9r7cCFUlxQgodjggAWA - It looks like it gives the speaker a small sealed enclosure, instead of the whole door panel ( Which flexes enough to feel even with some dynamat) . and if i wrap the baffle in dynamat , it would add a lot of mass. Would i get a benefit from that or would it hurt? ( i saw a review of possible overheating) I would use that until i get a chance to build a proper baffle. If it is likely to be better if i just wait until i have a chance to do it right, i will. although, it will probably be several months because work is getting more busy, getting ready for the hay season.
