Between these two, I would go with the D5100. It has more capacity and is made to be used as a starting battery. When using the 1200 size for starting you should look into the S1200 as it already comes with the auto terminals and the protective metal case to prevent it from swelling from high engine temps. The D5100's and up are constructed with extra thick plastic to reduce the risk of swelling.

I used to think the same... until I tested them. In every spl test I ever conducted with Optima's the blue tops were the best, the yellow tops second, and the red tops the worst.

well let me ask you, what is so wrong with Iraggi and Reman? Everybody on here has said they are chit but cant give me a reason why or either they've never used them personally. I know this site is affiliated with Powermaster but that doesnt mean that Powermaster, Ohio, Mean Green are the only people who can make a good alt. If i can get a chinese alternator that has all the same parts in it, or one off the shelf at autozone and make it perform the same as that 750 dollar alternator, am I the fool for doing it? Can you point me in the direction of one of these "chinese alts" and modules that I could put heads up against one of our equivalent units? I put a lot of merit into pretty much anything you can contribute to the forums, but I have my doubts that this setup can compare favorably in a real test comparison.

If there is room you shouldnt have a problem. We dont have an off the shelf bracket for this, but I'm sure it can be done.

Hey man... chances are your truck has a Group 65 battery stock. This is the same footprint as our D2700, but ours is a little taller. If you have plenty of height in there you can probably get one to fit. Otherwise you may want to look into the D3400. Hey, thanks for the tech help man! The Intelli-Charger employs custom charge algorithms for the type battery that is being charged. Charging a flooded battery in the AGM mode, or charging an AGM battery in the flooded mode would be counter productive. The sequence of steps and voltage range for each mode will get you the best and fastest charge for the type of battery that you have selected. We actual feature two AGM modes... one for low gassing threshold batteries like Kinetik's (AGM Low Mode) and one for batteries that can withstand higher voltages like Odyssey, Optima, and XS Power (AGM High Mode). I usually recommend to all our customers, if you are not in a hurry to just use the AGM low mode for any sealed battery, but the AGM High mode can be used on a regular basis with our batteries with a minimal reduction in life capacity. Some batteries will gas at a much lower voltage (some as low as 14.3v) and these are the ones you will want to avoid charging at 14.4v+ or you will greatly reduce the life of the battery. As I have mentioned before, I do not recommend charge voltage above 14.9-15v for any of our 12v batteries for extended periods as the valves will open, and permanent irreversible damage will occur. Sealed batteries have pressure valves to keep them from swelling to the point of breaking, and once a certain voltage is reached these valves will open and let the gas inside escape. This gas is essential for recharging. If overcharging occurs too many times, the battery will no longer accept a charge and leave you with a useless lead weight. As audiolife has recommended, follow the instructions that come with your batteries and chargers.

Very nice alt install!!! I would suggest flipping the Optima's over though... if your voltage ever exceeds 15.0v you may squirt all the juice out of em Could get messy... and expensive

Of the choices you have given I would suggest a yellow top instead of the redtop. They will work fine together. An XS Power D925 will also work well for this application

Yes, the D3100 would be overkill, but overkill is always good in car audio. You will have plenty of power for upgrades down the road. Our minimum recommendation for a 2500W system would be a D925 in the back near the amp

John is correct... if you're going to spend the money on such a nice batt, I would upgrade the wiring too! Also, as far as the terminals, the S series batteries and the 16v batteries are the only ones that have the terminals already included... the D batteries are sold seperately. The only difference in the 4 small 12v S and D series batteries is that the S series ship with a protective metal case and a pair of brass SAE post adaptors (PN 580). The steel case is to prevent swelling and protect from high heat when used under the hood as starting batteries. The small D series can be used for starting too as long as they are remotely mounted away from heat. The larger D batteries (D5100, D2400, etc.) can all be used under the hood with no problems.

bigjon is correct... you need to fuse the positive cable after it leaves the front battery, and before it connects to the rear battery. This way if the cable is cut or shorted betweeen the two batteries the fuses will blow and keep you from burning down your ride The fuses out of the back batt to the amps are optional, and really depend on the layout of your installation.
