  1. 1. when I say "small mono" for the sub, I mean lower wattage.

    2. I don't normally do this but to help you I will this once to make it simple. For your price range and desire...I   confidently recommend this amp http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_44493_Hifonics-Zeus-ZRX600.4.html from this website for your front and rears. you wont have to worry about ohms at this level of stereo build, this amp will power any component speakers within your available budget.

-Picking components is next but I'm not going to confidently recommend any like I am the amp.

    3. For the sub amp (when you get there, there is no hurry) I recommend this.  It is stable down to 1               ohm.  http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_67917_Hifonics-Zeus-ZRX1200.1D.html

    4. An 8 inch sub is fine in a PROPER BOX for the paticular subs specs. But again I will not confidently recommend any at this price range.

-that sub amp will be MORE than enough power for any sub you want within the price range you describe.

Take your time...start with the HU, then the 4ch amp & components.

  2. not sure if you noticed but this is important and goes to show what I meant about knowing your end goal.  Neither of those HU's have subwoofer preamp outputs!  you would not be able to hook up an amp for even a small sub.  You WOULD be able to run the Hifonics amp for the fronts and rears but no sub.  Look at the details on this one just for example http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_108635_Kenwood-DPX502BT.html...it DOES have 3 sets of preouts: front, rear AND sub.  ...always good to keep your options open. Hifonics amps are descent for their price and down the road you could buy a small mono block to run a sub

  3. In my honest opinion, it's best to slow it down. Focus and buy one thing at a time while keeping your end goal in mind.  When doing what your wanting to do the best thing is to start with the HU (stereo) then move on to speakers.  Pick out what will work for your end goal and is within your budget.  As for what particular brand of HU you should get...nobody can or should decide that but you.  I would recommend looking at http://www.sonicelectronix.com  They have good selections, prices, reviews and service. After you pick your HU for sure, then decide what you want for speakers.  Alpine's, kenwoods, fosgates...etc. are all great.

  4. Going to any one sub in a better and proper box would NOT be a down grade. More cubes and 32hz port tuning will give you a good low end and more output.

Edited to make proper sentence structure, lol

  5.

Not familiar with your car, but a bounce path of the windshield is pretty normal.  Time align the left together alone, then the right, then pair them up.

As for the headunit splitting the usb, you can surely try.  I don't think the minidsp requires that much power....but all that being said you should have bought the DC power source from minidsp for $10 as it will prevent turn on thump.  If you mean powering that it is simply done just off an accessory switched source.

That actually answered a question I had wanted to but not yet asked!  (about mounting my tweets face up to the windshield) thank you!

  6. Mock up the box.  Link doesn't show us what kind of room you'd have.  Without knowing EXACTLY how big the box can be you cannot even begin to shop for a sub.

N8te81 ^ This is the best possible advice that can be given to achieve your goal.  This is what ///M5 and others recommended for me to do when I began and the end result was fantastic.

  7. It comes down to your available space and then what you desire.  If you truly have 2.5^3 and you would really prefer a 12" xcon then that will work.  Optimal box specs are listed as  2.5-2.75ft^3 @27-34hz.  As far as output you could do the minimum spec of 1.75^3 if that's what fits, but if you want to run ported and have a bit of extra room I would shoot for the optimal as that will give you the most output for that sub.

  8. I'm not sure that makes enough sense to get any sort of effective reply...Like for instance:

"I bought one"...you bought one what?

"I could get more later"...more of what?

"so I'm looking"...looking for what, specificaly?

" Would like one more but two would be better"  ...ummm,  huh?

If you can elaborate better you will achieve quicker and more desirable responses to your questions.  Just sayin' :)

  9. I have a similar question and am still a bit confused.

I ordered the Pioneer DEH-80PRS and will be running it active which means on this HU I will be plugging my tweets directly into my 4ch amps front-left and right channels then my 6.5" door woofers into the rear-left and right channels.  Is there something I will need to do to protect the tweets running in this configuration?

This is my first time going active and decided to begin learning with a good HU that will do this.  Down the road when I am more knowledgeable I will move on up to a DSP.

P.S.  I have a 1K 4ch Hifonics now but am getting this to replace it very soon:

  10. It takes very little when it comes to running a game like runescape.  IF that is all your wanting to do nearly ANY laptop now a days that you can find for sale in facebook "buy, sale, trade groups or craigslist will run it fine.  You cannot download anything like games and such to Chromebooks.  I recommend searching your local facebook groups, craigslist and especially http://www.newegg.com

...For example here is one that is refurbished, (which would be in better shape than one you could find used off the street in a lot of cases)

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834264091&ignorebbr=1

Although that would play Runescape just fine, I am not suggesting that you buy that specific one, only showing you that there are a lot of cheap options out there smile.png  you might also check on http://www.tigerdirect.com  stick with a minimum of Dual Core Processing.

EDIT: you do not need a desktop to run this game unless you want a desktop..

  11. Thanks Alton! Glad to see your post!  It's been a while eh!

I tore down my Mazda install and stored all my equipment to keep it safe.  While I was gone, I was given a '99 Grand Cherokee!! I will post a pic of it when I have the ability.  I hope that my box fits nicely in the back, that is the only concern I have right now as far as install.  First things on my to do list are replace the stock battery with the one I bought before being locked up (it has been maintained nicely the whole time I was gone) and also beef up the wiring.  Next I'm looking for a nice pair of components for the front stage.  I have been looking at Focal P165 V15's for some reason but I am still window shopping.  I am also ditching my Hifonics amps and looking to get much nicer units starting with the front.  I have looked at the SAX-100.4 v2 but...MAN money don't just grow!  Also checking out the the IA6.4 or IA3.4 and the Crescendo S800.4.  And lastly I have looked at the Diamond Audio HX-600.4.

I mentioned all that, Alton because I value your knowledge and opinions.  My budget will just have to adjust itself to what I want LMAO.  So what do you think....about the Focals, and my somewhat-narrowed down list of 4ch amps?  Any thoughts, opinions, suggestions for me to consider?

    Thanks Brother!
It's sooo good to be back!

  12. Thank you for the welcome back guys!  It took that experience to understand my priorities in life, what is important to me and how at this point I stand to lose everything I hold dear if I continue down the same path that I have in the past.  I have been very fortunate to have made it this far and will not take that for granted any longer!

I'm looking forward and see a bright future ahead of me!

  13.   Ya so, I had set up a SSA forum account, made a great build, enjoyed it for a couple months...and then went to prison...I knew I was going but that didn't make things any easier.  Anyways 18 months later I'm out now and in the halfway house just months away from being able to re-build my system into my '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee!  Man am I excited!

So here I am checkin' in at my favorite forum to say "I'M BACK!!  WOOOOT!!"
