    The "New Line" information?

Hmm... on the card I got with my Qs it says something about "Fi X" subs, a "low powered alternative to the larger Fi subs." Is this the new line?

    Break-in?

Jah man I will let you know when I get everything kosher. I should be installing the Damplifier Pro this weekend and the amp is coming tomorrow, all I need to do is the Big 3 and order my Mechman alternator next paycheck.

    Break-in?

Hey guys, just got my Qs . I was wondering how exactly I should go about breaking in these subs, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Break-in?

Thanks for the replies guys I'm hoping they'll see power by next weekend (waiting on Damplifier Pro and amplifier ) I live in Schertz I'm like 15-20 minutes away from San Marcos, I will definitely hit you up when I get them set up so I can check out your Lincoln too
  6. Hey guys, many thanks to BJ and to Chris for the excellent design on this box. It's a 7cuft ported setup tuned @ 32Hz. The 2 Fi Q 15's are on order. I went through 2 sheets of 3/4" MDF and three drill batteries at work but she's all done! Here are the build pics All cut down The framework Starting to look like a box Double baffles in place All caulked up Whew... finished!!

    Just ordered! :D

Sure, the website can be found here.

    Just ordered! :D

Hey all, wanted to say thanks for anyone who's helped me out in the past few months. I sold my Xplods and ordered 2 Fi Q 15's moments ago. I'm going to be building a 7cuft ported box tuned to 32Hz and I'm ordering the wiring and amplifier within the next few weeks. So excited I can hardly stand it Meanwhile I am bassless but I think it is worth the wait!

Thanks Chris/BJ... check out the box!

lolz, thanks for the compliments I saw you over on CA.com as well . I will definitely post pics of my bleeding eardrums

    Just ordered! :D

Comes in great handy, now if I could only learn to cut a better circle with a jigsaw . We didn't have a circle jig for the router Oh and to ECROMEANS - You can get a 25% discount on Mechman alts if you post a build log up. I'm definitely looking into that

    Just ordered! :D

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, and I will definitely let you all know how it goes. Oh, and I got the box built today! Many thanks to Chris at Fisher Customs for the SketchUp, I stayed a little late at work today so I could get this bad boy done... 7cuft @ 32Hz, went through 2 sheets of 3/4" MDF and three drill batteries . What do you think? All cut down The framework Starting to look like a box Double baffles in place All caulked up Whew... finished!! Hey, I see a resemblance

If you've ever heard of Mechman altys I've heard they're pretty solid, you can find him on CA.com. They will find an alternator for you and if they don't have it they will build it! I'm eyeballing a 250amp

Going to order an AQ2200D next payday (two weeks!) so in the meantime I'm going to run some 0/1 wire, build the box, do the Big 3, and straighten up my existing wiring in the car. Two MORE weeks after that I'm going to get a HO alternator.

    aq2200D

Same here bro let us know how it is... I plan on running 2 Fi Q 15's off of it here in the next month or so
  15. Hey smiley, if this helps any.. I was looking into getting the same setup, 2 Fi Q 15's... I did some exhaustive research on amps and I've settled on the AQ2200D - puts out 2200wRMS into 1 ohm (if you got the two subs with 1 ohm DVCs you can wire the individual voice coils in series to 2 ohms and wire the subs together in parallel for a one ohm load). These subs are rated at 1000wRMS so it's a great match. Also AQ's are stable at one ohm and I've heard some pretty good things about them. If you want more info shoot over to audioque.com and check them out. I'm gonna be putting my system together over the next month so I can't really offer much more help beyond that but chyeah check it out

    Random Question

LOL... tell me why I was going to ask the same question when I got online today As a secondary question where did the name come from?
  17. Hey all... got another question here . If you use aero ports, is it possible to build the box smaller in relation to a box with slot ports, or is the port displacement the same for both types? Thanks

Would this be a good enclosure?

Ok thanks exactly what I needed to know
  19. CadillacMatt

Would this be a good enclosure?

Hey guys, need s'more help once again . I got a price quote from somebody online about having a box built for 2 Fi Q 15's... I told him the dims I had to work with (40" deep, 19" high, 48" wide) and the tuning freq (32Hz) and he came out with the rest. Is this a good setup? 30" deep x 19" high x 28" wide 6.1 cu ft tuned to 32 hz w/88 sq in of port. Thanks
  20. CadillacMatt

Would this be a good enclosure?

n/m I am going to get a box designed thru Fisher Customs, but I'm wondering if I should go towards the lower end of the recommendation for the sub (2.8cuft) or the higher end (4cuft). What difference in sound will this make?

What do you think about this setup?

Hey all. I'm upgrading my low-end from 2 12" Xplods and I've settled on 2 15" Fi Qs, with BP Power, pushed by an AQ2200D amp. I'm looking at putting them in a ported box, but I realize this box is going to be quite large (my trunk dims are 40" deep, 19" high, 48" wide). Fi recommends 2.8-4cuft so the box would need to be 6-8cuft right? I'm thinking about tuning it at 32Hz, from what I've heard from a lot of people with these subs. I listen to hip/hop and rap mostly, and I love songs that get low (like Gorilla Zoe or Young Jeezy songs for example). Is this a good tuning freq? I don't want to completely lose some of the "higher" bass notes but I want an extremely solid low end. Also, would it be better to put a divider between the subs or run them together in one chamber? Thanks, any comments/suggestions on my planned setup would be greatly appreciated!!
  22. CadillacMatt

What do you think about this setup?

But it's also a little bit of insurance because I'm going to be running a 2200wRMS amp @ 1 ohm, gains going to be set correctly and all that.
  23. CadillacMatt

What do you think about this setup?

Thanks all... I'm wondering though if I were to settle with the Q, do I really need the BP Power? I want the subs to get as loud as possible, and I know to do that, they need to be able to handle a greater amount of power (hence the BP Option) will this affect any other qualities of the sub? Will I be giving anything up (besides $40 haha)
  24. CadillacMatt

What do you think about this setup?

I've heard that the BLs are geared more towards SQ+L, and don't get as low as the Q's. I realize this has a lot to do with the enclosure as well, I mean there isn't a huge difference in these subs right?
