I believe the Q has a range of 1000-1200 watts rms. I’ve heard many say they will take the higher end all day without issues. Anything in that range that won’t give up any time soon would be great. Others have suggested the Orion xtr 2500, sundown sia 3500 and sfb 3000.

I would like to spend less than a couple hundred bucks after trading or selling the Taramps and mount it under one of the seats, which is pretty small. (Taramp fits)

I'd stay away from the sfb line. My buddy hooked his up brand new out the box and big puff of smoke. Sent it back and they claimed no issues. Needless to say it's still junk and was never replaced.

  2. Ok it's been a minute. Got a set of components ordered (critical mass) . Got a JL audio mini dsp ordered (86 I believe?) And no clue how to set it up but its ordered through my buddys shop and he knows what hes doing But I'm gonna learn. Still torn on what sub to run. Thinking a single 12 or 15, possibly even a set of beefy 8's? And no amps as of yet. Waiting on synergy to drop their 5 channel. Specs are supposed to be 150x4 and 1500x1

Usually when people say tweeters are bright then they are harsh to the ear. I didnt have an issue when I auditioned some, just depends on personal preference. Some people like louder high end frequency then others while some like them to blend in seamlessly. I would go find audio shops that carry the Focal and Morel sets to see what you prefer. I been hearing good things about the B2 set as well.

My current SB Acoustic tweeter may be harsh or too bright to some with their higher sensitivity compared to my mids. But since Im running active I can tame them down if need be.

Thanks for the input. I've got friends running B2 amps in their bass builds. And they are impressive amps. So I'd imagine the component sets are top notch as well. Probably wont start building till spring. But my components will be my Christmas present to myself

  4. So I've been eyeing some 3 way sets. Focals, morels, and the b2 audio 3 way sets. I'm leaning toward the morel virtus 3 ways.  Pods on the a pillars and driver in the stock door location.  I've been trying to do as much research as I can. Been working steady thro covid and pounding the overtime. Alot of reviews say the focals sound too "bright". I'm not sure what that means. Hope everyone is well and staying safe with the insanity that's happening out there. Edit. Clarity will be my goal.

Cant see pictures on the google drive but that tint will come in handy within the next few months. Got mine done earlier this month myself

Yea it will. I wasnt happy with my windshield or the drivers front. So tomorrow they're getting redone. I'm quite bummed the pics dont show up. Looks super clean.

Congrats on the new wheels, I'm also thinking of buying a Cadillac srx one myself later this month if I  find a good deal.

I've looked for almost a year. And I was back and forth between the srx and the xt5. I drove the xt4 and just wasnt a fan of the interior.  I'm happy with my choice.

Congrats on the new wheels, let's see some pictures of this bad boy

And thank you. Way overdue. My 40th birthday present to myself.

  8. I still have some deadening left over from the loud build. Integrated in with the factory Cadillac cue. I searched for what size is in the doors and its telling me 6 3/4. Tweets in the pillars. With a 3 1/2 inch center channel speaker in the dash. Which is a new one for me. I'm not against disabling the rears. If I can get decent output from the front. I've never dealt with a center channel or an sq oriented build. But I'll try and learn something from this one.  Actually looking at some Hertz k 165 components.

  9. Hey y'all it's been a minute.  I recently purchased a 2013 Cadillac srx.  Totally in love with the new ride. No more huge audio builds. It has the factory 10 speaker Bose system, but sounds like total garbage. I'm planning on upgrading, but keeping it very clean. I'm going for clarity, not necessarily an sq build but more in that direction. Not sure where to start. Any suggestions? The sub will be replaced eventually.  But in the mean time I guess front doors are priority . Factory tweeters are in the pillars. I want it to look completely stock or as close as I can.

I may be in love already.  Got just about everything for the build minus subs, and seriously debating going lithium.  I'm going to be watching the store for release!

  11. Super stoked about this, as I was set on a pair then.. well you know. How will the new models compare with the old? I see the options on the zcons are pretty crazy. Hopefully the new evils will continue with this. And plans for 18's I'm assuming are in the works?

We carry plenty of co-ax and components, or if you want to go with an amp, we have plenty of affordable small 4 channels and amp kits available. :)

Thanks Aaron. Cost I'm not so much worried about. Any recommendations on a nice component set ?

13-band is the equalizer, not the crossover.  So I am asking in terms of how will you be sending just mid-bass frequencies to the Evil 65's?

My fault it's still early. I'm almost positive there is no crossover in the head unit. I may need to do an amp if I go this route.  I'm almost burnt out of car audio anymore. Between the time, effort, and money.. I've got a small stockpile built up for myself, but still need more. I may just have to pick up some normal 6.5's and save a big headache

Yes, they will be fine off of head unit power.  Does that head unit have a crossover in it?  Asking as I didn't see anything on the Pioneer website.

It has a thirteen band built in but I'm not sure how well it will do. The thought crossed my mind about that after I posted. If I need to amplify them down the road I guess that wont be a problem. The whole goal is keep it as simple as I can.

  15. Been a minute but I figured I'd ask. Due to a fire at my buddy of 20+ years stereo shop I got a few things out from helping him clean up (head unit and subs) All of which for the wife's truck.  It will be using a pioneer 210ex for the head unit, not installed yet, but need to upgrade the front door speakers. My question is would the evils do alright off of the head unit alone? Or should I look at putting them on an amp. Possibly a set of tweeters also. But main focus is on front doors.

I love the look, took a while changing things around on this sub to get it right.  There is an 8" model that didn't go into production yet.  Yes, they are not super shallow, but the least shallow SSA subs I believe.

I think I can still pull off a pair of the 10's in the under the dual under the rear seat dodge box. As soon as I can scrape a little cash up I'm gonna order a pair. The box says mounting depth 5.5 so not impossible.

Man that looks nice! That red stitching really pops on the surround. Any mounting depth numbers yet? As long as the clear I'm gonna jump on a pair as well for the wife's truck. Edit. I just went to store mounting depth is posted. 5 5/8.
