WTB 10 or 12 inch Xcon

Not sure if this is the correct section, but, I would really really love to buy an Xcon in 10 or 12 inch. If anyone has one for sale, or knows someone selling one, could you please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thats good news. I wasn't sure when you guys were going to start production again. I will search around on some other forums classifieds section to see if some pop up. Thanks man for the reply.

    Need tuning opinions

What up guy's! So, I need some tuning help/opinions. Vehicle is a 1996 jeep grand cherokee. I have a pair of evil 6.5's, and a pair of evil 1 tweets running off a nvx jad 800.4. Also, have a dayton dsp408. Midbass is mounted in stock location in the doors. Doors are deadened and sealed of as best as I could. Haven't fully installed tweeters yet, but they are wired up. Stock location for tweeters are in the dash. Is this a bad spot for the evils, or is there maybe somewhere better for them? Also, was wondering if anyone had crossover suggestions for the evil mids and tweets. I'm really not sure what steps I need to take as far as the tuning goes. Any opinions are welcome. I need them lol

Alright I'll give it a try. Yeah, I'm not yet familiar with hearing distortion so I will just have to listen closely lol

Makes sense. Is it possible to set a dsp's output level with a multimeter, like you can do on an amp?

    Need tuning opinions

Thanks for the help man. Alright I will try that out. It's very easy to isolate speakers with the dayton dsp, which is super nice. Something I was not even thinking about before starting this post, is output level on each channel on the dayton dsp. I realized I have the outputs to each speaker maxed out. Also, noticed I can turn the amps gain all the way down and still get decent output out of the headunit @26 out of 35. Are my outputs on the dsp too high?

They are some plastic spacers i got from a audio shop. I put foam tape behind the speaker flange and behind the spacer. It seemed sturdy enough. Not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean the crossovers are switched?

    Need tuning opinions

Thanks for the info man. Either my doors aren't sealed up good enough or My gain is too high. I will try 70hz, but I think they'll bottom. I'll give those crossover points a try and see how it sounds. Should I have all eq and time alignment flat when changing crossovers?

    Need tuning opinions

Nope no sub, but I plan on it. I noticed the evils don't like playing low. Not sure where they bottom at...but I've got the mids at 80hz hpf at 24db slope now and without eq my passenger side mid will bottom on some songs. That's why I was wondering if I have the crossovers set wrong. Did they bottom from playing too low or are they bottoming a little higher? Like 100-140hz?

Thanks ma n. I have a few placement options. I might try in the dash facing windshield and the pillars I suppose.
  12. Looking for some recommendations for a head unit. So, what I will be working with is 4 evil1 tweets, 4 evil65 mids, and 2 nvx800.4 amps to power them. One amp will power all mids, and the other will power the tweets. 2 or 3 15 inch subs will come later. Almost decided on the hellions. But, anyways I want to run an active setup in my 96 jeep grand cherokee. I thought about using the amps crossovers instead of a head unit. I also considered an audio control matrix plus since I will be using y splinters and do not want to lose any rca output. What head unit would anyone recommend for this setup? Also, if using the nvx 800.4 crossover is a bad idea, is there another setup that would be better, hu, etc.?

Amp or HU crossover, and HU suggestions

I would but there is hardly any room behind the door panels. I guess my goal is for it to sound really good but at the same time keep up with the sub stage. I know it's not ideal to speakers in the rear doors. I'm not sure it would bother me much. I probably wouldn't be able to tell that they are there as much as some folks would. I understand what you are saying though since rear speakers will pull the sound behind you.

Amp or HU crossover, and HU suggestions

I looked at that particular pioneer you referenced. Also seemed like a good choice and great price. Priced around the same as my barely used alpine head unit. The alpine new is a little bit more on the price side compared to that pioneer. For some reason I thought it was a good deal. But in the long run may cost more than a pioneer 80prs because I will need a dsp more than likely.

Amp or HU crossover, and HU suggestions

One evil 6.5 per door. Evil tweets will be possibly in the dash, don't have them yet. If two evil tweets will be enough for 2 or 3 15's then I won't bother with 4 of them. I was only assuming I would need 4 evil1's to pair with the 4 evil mids.

Amp or HU crossover, and HU suggestions

That's what I will have to do. Thought about pulling the alpine out and buying the 80prs which I should have done in the first place. But I did a good wiring job and don't want to yank the alpine unit out lol. Going to just suck it up and buy a processor of some sorts. I would need something like 10 channels for 8 speakers plus subs. What processor would you recommend?

    New to the SSA Forum

Hey guy's! As the title states I am new to the forum. This is my first post on any forum, so....be easy on me on this post and future posts lol. So just wanted to say wassup and glad I found SSA! I have been reading threads on every sight imaginable, just reading and learning about the do's and don'ts of car audio. Also, a ton about different brands and all that good stuff. Stumbled upon SSA and heard nothing but awesome reviews and personal experiences with the company as a whole. Again, glad I found them! After drooling over pictures of several SSA products for 2 years, I finally purchased my first ssa products. Just got 4 evil 6.5 mids and they look awesome! They aren't hooked up yet, but I can't wait till I get them installed! Plan on getting 4 evil tweeters also to go with the evil mids. SSA subs are in my future, just unsure of which one's since my dreams of 2 Xcon 15's are gone, for now at least :(. But anyways, just wanted to say thanks for having me on the forum!

Amp or HU crossover, and HU suggestions

Will the prs80 give me full control over 4 evil1 tweeters and 4 evil65 mids plus subs? In example, control over crossovers, etc for tweeters 1 and 2, and then seperate for tweeters 3 and 4?

Amp or HU crossover, and HU suggestions

Just looked it up. The tune it pro is for an alpine processor which looks like it has all the bells and whistles you would ever need, and 12 channels, but, at a price. Should have just went with the prs80. That $100 alpine head unit ain't so cheap now lol.

Amp or HU crossover, and HU suggestions

Makes sense. I did not know this but the alpine is tune it app capable. There are some settings in the menu of the head unit, but the app seems a littler easier to me. On the app it has 9 band parametric eq that has quite a few adjustments, also has time correction, fader/balance, crossover adjustment(front and rear hpf and sub lpf), bass engine sq, and a couple other things. Not sure if that's helpful info.

Amp or HU crossover, and HU suggestions

I appreciate the help and suggestions fellas. I almost pulled the trigger on an 80prs, but $100 for my buddy's 164bt that was basically never used....don't know if I can pass it up. Seems to be a good deal. Had I known he was selling it, I would have titled this thread differently and not wasted you guys time. I know it's super convenient to tune from the drivers seat but it's not a super big deal I guess. So, since i'm going to run that alpine 164bt what's a good processor? Guess I'll need one with several channels since I'm going to running two 4 channel amps and a sub amp.

Amp or HU crossover, and HU suggestions

I was only asking because a good friend of mine said he has an alpine cde-164bt he would sell me for 100 bucks. He bought it for his truck, but, sold it and no longer has any use for it. Thinking about buying it from him. Good or bad idea?

Amp or HU crossover, and HU suggestions

Just curious, would it be pointless to have a inexpensive head unit and a dsp, when you can have everything all in one such as the pioneer 80prs for less money? Or is there a difference in adjustability between the two?
