    Kents 08 Lexus ES350 Build

This was my old box that I had in my 92 Toyota pickup. We decided to use it temporary until we can build a new enclosure. If I remember right I tuned it to 29 hrtz or so. I Don't know if it is because the Lexus has superior insulation compared to my pickup or if it is because we used the SA-8 V2's instead of the SA-8 v1's, or a combination of both but the lows don't hit as hard as they did in my yota.

    Elblako's SA-8 build log

Well haven't posted up here in a while so i thought id post up what I'm doing lately. I already have 2 SA-8's on the way and I'm going to pair it up with a SAE 1000d amp or an SAZ 1000d amp (not really sure what to get at the moment). I will be wiring both of them down to 1 ohm. It's all going in a 1992 toyota pickup extended cab. Here are the specs of the box I'm designing at 32 hrtz. In the 3D photos the length should be 40" not 36". Any comments, help, or info would be appreciated. Thanks-Blake

The box is heavy enough and the seats are back far enough tht it gets trapped back there. I used a jigsaw because I have a cheap harbor freight tools table saw tht can't cut a straight line even If it wanted to. As for the head unit it's a kenwood exceleron. It's like a 2000 model and was top of the line back in 2000.

    Elblako's SA-8 build log

The box is just sitting on top of the rear seats and it's not bolted down. It's heavy enough that it won't move. I'm going to do another video today with the GF and see if I can move some hair.

    Elblako's SA-8 build log

Well i finally got a video. Not as great as I was expecting. I guess a system always looks and feels better in person as the camera didn't pick up my seat shaking. Either that or I just need to go bigger ha. Anyways it's my first video so ignore the stuttering. Towards the end of it i do address the problem I have been having lately. Whenever i turn the ignition off my subs pop real bad. I've only done it once so i don't think I've done any damage to them but to avoid this i have to turn my radio off, which then turns the remote off to my amps. Only then can i turn the ignition off and avoid the POP. Any ideas? Anyways enough yappin' my mouth off lets move on to the video.... VIDEO:

    Elblako's SA-8 build log

I was defiantly shocked with the 8's. They sound like two 12's. I tuned down low for SQ but if i turn it up i can shake my seats and rear pick up bed. It's quite impressive to say the least. I think I might post up a video today as I have nothing to do.

    Elblako's SA-8 build log

Well right now it's just bare. I still have to fill all the holes up with wood putty and then re-sand. Probably be painting it black. Thanks everyone for the comments. I'll be posting up more pictures and a video later.

    Elblako's SA-8 build log

Ok guys i finally got home and started building my box. Good thing too seeing how it will be raining for the next week or so. Anyways I will try to get a video tomorrow. Now on to the pictures. The subs- Starting to cut the MDF ( I used a skill saw with a guide as my table saw sucks!)- Laying out everything for a test fit- Starting to put glue and screws- Counter sunk all the screws and sanded all the imperfections- Finished Product-

    Elblako's SA-8 build log

Sweet thanks guys! I'm also wondering about another thing. On my design i have the amp (the black thing) in between the port opening and the two subs. Where is the optimal location for the subs to be? Should they both be closest to the port opening or furthest away from it? Hope that made sense.

    Elblako's SA-8 build log

Almost time to build. Just 12 more days or so. I'm excited plus I received a new camera for my Birthday a couple of days ago so there will not be a shortage of pictures! Anyways I'm just looking over my box design and someone mentioned this to me for advice: "hey i just saw your box your planning on building and it look great but if i can give u a piece of advice move the port from the outer edge to the middle or top. the way its configured now will have the sub noise waves mashing into each other and will result in a odd sounding system. also if you can run a individual port to the opening for even greater quality. good luck erik" What is yalls opinion on this?
