Sub combination for Sundown SAZ-2000D
jcarter1885 replied to jcarter1885's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I have around 4-4.5 ft^3 of space available, what would be a good size for this setup? Thanks for your input. -
Sub combination for Sundown SAZ-2000D
jcarter1885 replied to jcarter1885's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Thanks guys after debating this issue for 2 days I decided to go with the 2-12"s, since I will still be able to keep my system (just gonna sell one of the cvx's and amp to build a new box for 2-12"s). What subs should I go for in a future upgrade, SSA ICONS or FI Q's so I can build the box for them (they will be played on a SAZ-2000D at 1500-2000 rms)? What tuning frequency (I luv lows, listen to mostly r&b and chopped/screwed music with rap and old school played occassionally)? Thanks guys. -
I believe the SAZ-2000D is 25lbs. and its 1000 @ 2ohms.

Because everybody is going to tell you the same thing as stated above and every car is different. The only way to find out what is the best for you is to test and see for yourself. Some people say port back and sub back is good for trunked cars, I only think you should port or forward or face subs forward if you have a ski hole, competitions or ride with seats down all the time and want to seal off trunk. I personally became a fan or sub up and probably port back but in my next install Im thinking port up and sub up since I removed my speakers from my rear deck.

Yeah thats a good amp, if your looking for better perfomance or numbers than it might be time for a box change.
-
Damn somebody pawned a Sundown Amp, but at least it turned into another mans treasure.Good find and congrats on the new addition to the family man, stay blessed.

Brings back all the memories doesnt it, I bet when you saw the address you sat there starring for a minute or two.

I would get a better box built for the 2-kicker's and go buy a 2000rms amp(for future upgrades in case you do plan on going BTL or HDC3 route in the future) and get a DMM to set your gains to 1500rms or so, it never hurts to have headroom. This will be the cheapest route and probably lead you in good results instead of buying two new subs and amps right now.

I doubt it even though I know it will sound way better but yeah I know how to set the gains so that wont be a problem and it will see more than 1000-1200 watts. -
What size enclosure and is the box ported (if so @ what frequency)?

Glad you could joing us .

Sub combination for Sundown SAZ-2000D

Oh Im keeping the Saturn its paid for, hell yeah baby!!!!!!!!! Im not worried about weight right now or wiring or what would be easier cause I have three subs now and it that doesnt make a diffence to me. Im just looking for a good loud daily driver that will hammer the lows all day when I throw my chopped and screwed music on, Im leaning more towards to 12"s but I would love to hear what the SSA Family has to put into this new setup. -

I cant say I will never compete since I havent but SPL wont be a big factor in this install but showing up to a competition and seeing what numbers I get would be nice. I dont think I want to compete in the car I have now, I want to buy something else to compete in later on in life( next year or two). -
I was gonna say the same thing, how far is the port from the back hatch? How far should a port be from a hatch, panel or trunk lid?
-
Considering Im in the Dallas area I dont know of too many spots in Central Texas, Im down for the event (hopefully its not during my alumni schools homecoming because I have been planning that trip for almost a year but I will pass that trip up for an Event. I will stay posted to this thread.

Is 3,000RMS on a Fully loaded(daily driver) Sub possible
jcarter1885 replied to forsellb's topic in Fi Technical
lol, you don't recommend the 2400s but you tell him to listen to what i say and i say it's fine... He is really gonna be confused now, lol. 2 HC2400s are fine. If you are a Kinetik fan, that model number is what you want, 2 of them. If you are Powermaster fan, go with 2 XS D3100s... The Powermaster's are generally $30 more than the Kinetik's and i am biased to say that's what i'd use simply because their companies support forum is on this site if you have any questions. Honestly I didnt even look up the AH on the HC2400 and was cofusing it with the HC2000, I gave some false info my fault and figured since you only listed the XS Power D3100's they were the only ones acceptable (but I guess it was what came to mind first or brand loyalty). But yeah (2) Kinetick HC2400 will do, my fault for not looking the batteries up first. -

Well get the 250A if thats all you can find and grab two XS Power D3100's, the kinetick 2400 dont have the amp hours you need. On the electrical behalf listen to what shizzzon recommends, its gonna cost you but if you do it right the first time the less money you have to spend in the long run. -

Yeah I agree with you close mouths dont get fed, but a good 2000wrms-3000wrms amp would be perfect for those subs since a 2500-3000wrms amp will leave you with some head room which is a good thing. When I say setting the gain right I mean their is a way to limit even a 3000wrms amp to dish out a certain amount of rms, you would have to get a DMM: Digital Multi-Meter, bought mines last nite at Wal-mart for $30 but they have cheaper ones that cost only $20 but well worth it. Once you get a DMM you will need a test tone cd and a voltage chart unless you wanna do all the math by hand or paper to set your gains to where your 3000wrms is only dishing out 2000wrms. Look under the Audio Related Section Amplifiers, Headunits, Electrical Forum and their are a few tutorials that describe how to go about this process if more information is needed. Amps for a BTL: Sundown SAZ-2000D, AudioQue 2200D, Rockford Fosgate T2000or T2500, Incriminator Audio 20.1 (just off the top of my head) Amps for 2 BTL's: Sundown SAZ-3500D or SAZ-4500D, Audioque 3500D, Rockford Fostgate T4000, Incrimantor Audio 40.1 (just off the top of my head) -

I dont know about daily but if you set your gains right and watch your volume then 3000wrms may be ok but I dont know about higher. The question is for how long can they take that power and can your vehicle handle 6000rms or more? Why dont you just give them between 2000-3000wrms(if you just want to throw that much power on them but they have a rms rating for a reason). Oh yeah welcome and glad you could join us. -
Stetsom Amps.
jcarter1885 replied to lamchop_8's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The Sundown 4500D is underrated also, so 4500wrms+, I would feel safer with the 4500D since it has two power and ground terminals maaking sure your feeding the amp the current it needs and Jacobs the man. Just my .02 -
It's called an isolator/solenoid.

Ill be careful about purchasing a mojo for $75 but they are good subs, they probably retail for $350 or better depending where you get them from.
