Hehe, I meant WE are a predominantly Christian nation. Not them. Bad grammar on my part.

    speakers

There are lots of good speakers out there that work with only the power provided by a head unit. However these combos are all peanuts compared to the same set of speakers amplified with their rated power.

I disagree. MAD (Most appropriate abbreviation ever) to me meant that sides A and B were both totally capable of ending all life on the planet, and if one attacked, the other would. This time around, both sides have already attacked - the outcry would be from a third party (The REST of the world) Also, we never went to war with Russia, so in that sense, it *did* work... For me, "over" is when 1) the people native to the land can support themselves without resorting to hunter-gatherer for food and water and 2) they are emotionally ready to go it alone. Personally, I think this period came and went a long time ago. If I'm reading the news right, most of the violence now in Iraq is between Sunni Muslims and Shiite Muslims, which being a predominantly Christian nation is not our place to intervene or choose sides.

I remember after the first initial fighting where we took over, that Bush talked a bit about restoring the necessities like electricity and running water, but that was at least a year ago. Unfortunately, the news doesn't offer much on what's going on in Iraq and Afhganistan (sp?). (And on a totally random sidenote, I was I could change my screenname.)

    Can someone shed some light?

I have personally found Stephen Hawkins to be full of it, but I'll give his writings another shot.

In terms of what RIckRolled just said, I'm all for genocide. I know that sounds harsh, but we're basically two sides of the same coin. Our society believes we are right and that our way of life is the only right way to live. We'll kill and die to support that belief. Their society believes they are right and that their way of life is the only right way to live. They'll kill and dies to support that belief. I'm not saying one side is right or wrong. Actually, both us and them are wrong in our belief that our way of life is the right one. I'm saying that 1) there are enough humans on the planet anyway and 2) one less culture means one less "taker" society to cause conflict. (think of the book "Ishmael") Of course, I'm not talking just us, but everyone. The world itself needs to stand up to one side or the other (i'm putting us on the line, too) and say "Enough is enough - calm the **** down or we'll destroy your lives, your culture, your religion, and your very existance". EDIT: Forgot to comment about the poll. While IMO few know why this conflict started, we can decide how it will end. We have to see it through. Personally, I don't even know why we're there right now. I guess I'm totally ignorant in that sense. I do know that's half assing something leads to a half assed job.

    second battery wiring question

I've got 3 old 110 amp battery isolators just for that reason.

    SPL Proto (the other one)

Worry about power ratings later. SQ and output are where it's at. =)

What do you guys use for boxes?

Careful with those roto-zips. They work great until the bit wears out, then it slows to a crawl cutting holes, I've broken bits, had them slow to 1" every 3 seconds or slower, even caught enclosures on fire trying to stretch that last bit out to finish the job. While the circle cutting tool on it is convenient, the bits wear out so quickly that I don't find it practical. Maybe I'm using the wrong bits in the first place. *shrugs*

    The Album Review Thread

Tristania - World of Glass This album represents the pinnacle of the Gothic Rock band Tristania. It has 9 tracks. The highlights of this album is a choir singing in Latin, a heavily antagonistic atmosphere, and most importantly, Vibeke Stene's voice. The album itself is a shock-value collection of black metal highlighting war, the end of the world, and even being sacrificed from the point of views like the Goddess of war, a spectator, and even an accused witch (respectively). The instrumentals are spotless. The lyrics are meaningful albeit a little senseless sometimes. The growling voices are understandable but a little overused IMO. A lyrics sheet will be necessary to understand what's going on is some songs. Vibeke Stene, as always, is a siren from the tales of Odysseus. I recommend this album on the grounds that you won't find music like it, with similar levels of creativity or effort, on any normal album. 9/10 - Attempted Perfection
  12. This kind of derives from the "Now playing!" thread, but rather than just post what song your music player has going, write up a review of any albums you think need reviews. Saliva - Blood Stained Love Story: For anyone listening to rock on the radio, this is the album which holds the track "Ladies and Gentlemen". The sad thing is, going through this album and the whole concept of love and loss the album tries to follow, it's totally out of place. In fact, in my opinion a better name for the album should be "Cookie Cutter Love Story" because many of the 10 songs on the album are dull and uncreative, which is another reason "Ladies and Gentlemen" is out of place. I easily forget which song is which because they all sound alike with the exception of "Ladies and Gentlemen" which is unique and memorable. As far as I'm concerned, this is a one track wonder. 5 / 10 - below average

    Input on 8's

I've only owned one pair of 8s. Almost every time I find a pair I would like to have, I run into the problem that they either lack the high end response I need, or they are simply too big for my intended design. My goal was alway a two way setup to fill in the complete musical spectrum in the front without the need for a dedicated woofer. Otherwise, most of my attempts to make an 8" sub audible in my Taurus fail miserably. So, I think if I were to look for a practical 8" woofer, it'd need to have a very small enclosure requirement, be efficient, and have a solid high end up to the 2k range.

Wait a second, I think I missed something. Did I just read 18s in the rear deck? What weird vehicle are you driving with a back dash that big?

    Ascendant Audio

The way I see it, it is a boner, but at the current time it's an earned position.
