    sensitivity and frequency response

Did you try an higher LPF, like at 80 Hz ? When the LPF was at 63 Hz, I felt like it was missing notes, or a little muddy on reggae music. I lifted it a little, to 80 Hz, and it was much better. On rap songs (Decaf or others) it sounds good at 63 Hz, it's mostly the lowest frequencies playing. mids : 70-75 Hz to 3000, , and the SSA tweeters are HP at 3000 Hz. Or something like that. I don't remember the slopes. Good luck. I use a box with much more port area, and I think it's much much better than my previous box (made to specs, I guess so). Maybe you could check your box again...

    Amp imput

I tried to upload from my galley (on pc or on mac) : it's impossible. It would have been nice. All the photobuckets pictures are down on the forum. And I won't pay a dime for PB.

    Juggernaut recone

I agree. You have no garanties it will be better. The tinsel leads should not break easily. Are you sure you're not doing something wrong ?

    Morel Hybrid or Focal KRX2

I'm so happy with my active setup. It's not worth paying for a pair of crossovers you will never use. You already have a processor with the head unit. So, your budget will let you buy better equipments, and deadening products (if you need some). M5 will guide you in the right direction.

6.5 evil to replace diamond HEX 6.5

Try a single pair of mids, have fun with your system. Later you'll add another pair of mids if you feel it necessary.

My first SUV gets a sound system.

It's difficult to post pics. Photobucket is not working good, and there is an error message when I use the forum "choose files" after the download from my laptop. I'll try again later.

My first SUV gets a sound system.

Hi everyone ! I own a brand new MAzda CX-5 2.2 l Diesel. It's my first SUV, I've never had so much room in the cargo area ! I'm still waiting on a dash kit and an adaptor for the head unit. I sold a lot of things from my ex car, the Toyota : rca's, power and ground (cca) wires, box, a Kinetic 1200, a DD 9515 ;-) and more....It gave me some serious cash to buy a few items. Here what I have so far : head unit : Pioneer X5600BT I need a double DIN unit to keep the screen for the parking radar (how do you call that ?) Amplifiers : Incriminator Audio 20.1 for the bass and a 3.4 for the mids & highs. (thanks SSA for the Black&Blue sale). Sub : SSA Zcon 15" Mids & highs : my old set of Focal 165 KP still with its original passive filters. Box : design from RAM is coming... Wires : Knu and Phonocar rca's, Knu 0 gauge power set, and what I already had. I'm not a photographer, so here are some pics

New amp in ; a little Zapco st 2x for the SSA tweeters. I'll bridge the IA 3.4 on the mids.
  10. OK, now you're talking to a serious guy ! I bought a PSP port a few years ago. It was nice, but I will never do that again : now, I use PVC tubes, and I can flare both ends. It's not perfect as a PSP port, but it's MUCH cheaper, I can found what I need locally, ready to use. With a good looking paint, I can even show it outside the box (to save box volume).

Recommended subs for old school mini truck

Why do you want to stay sealed ? Ported box can sound really good, if you know what you're doing. I always feel like going sealed is a waste of bass You loose the bass trapped in the box ! Honnestly sealed enclosures are easier to run, and sound good easily. It's up to you.
  12. How do you like the sound, the output ? 6" is on the small side, and 8" seems good for yoour setup. When you wtite 3.5 to 4.5 box, you must be talking of net volume, because an 8" port will take a lot of space in that volume. And a ZV.5 is a huge sub. I'm waiting on what others will tell you. (I'm not an expert at all!).
  13. Why build a 4th order bandpass box when a regular ported box is more efficient, easier to build, and takes less room ? I'm really not getting it ! OP, can you tell me why or how did you make your choice ? Maybe I'm missing something. (I'm here to learn ...and have fun).

SSA Evil 1 (first SSA tweeter)

The tweeters are heavy, they look nice. You want to touch them, like a high end product. Congratulations. Smooth, accurate, more musical than my old Focal tn52. I'm still listening to those new SSA tweets with a good smile on my face !

SSA ICON Series Amplifiers **ALL NEW!!**

All your products are very well priced. I won't say they are cheap, but they all seem to be worth every penny ! I was just surprised when I saw the amps price, with not so much informations about them. I hope I will be able to get one soon !

SSA ICON Series Amplifiers **ALL NEW!!**

Maybe you should explain more. Tell us what benefits do they have, why are they really good, how "not cheaply made" they are,... Sorry for those questions, but those are your first amps. I don't know what to expect, and why should I buy them (and change both my IA amps !). I'd still love to get that 4ch class D...

Those amps lokk nice, kind of an old school look. Maybe I will get one, or both, someday. They're not cheap though...

    Sundown zv5 15 input

I've heard a pair of 18" Zv4 and I did not like that setup. I don't know if the box what good for them, but 2 SP4s in the same box and it was a night and day difference. The Fi were much more musical than the Sundown (only the lows would hit right). That is just one experience, so I can't really judge the Sundown subs. I can only talk about the Fi subs, as I have more experience with them.

    Welcome !

New sub is here! DC level 6 18!

i was thinking the same. I've just installed a freshly reconed sub, and I run it as usual. No break in, no smell. I have a good enclosure, but the amps settings are made by ears !

Recommended subs for old school mini truck

I had an Xcon 15" in a 3 cu ft sealed box. It was nice. The sound was really good, and I had a lot of output too ! I wouldn't use it in a smaller sealed box. If you already have subs, it would be much cheaper to work on a new custom box, for them. Maybe you could just port your current box for your 12s, with some 4" PVC pipes. Ask some good designers here.
