The only spot you really have to add a second layer of mdf would be the front baffle (where the speakers go). I ran the numbers for you. The area you have to work with is 11.47cuft. After wood displacement you are at 8.88cuft with a split chamber. After your port displacement and sub displacement you end up with a 5.9cuft box. So each sub would be in a 2.95cuft box. Which works cause fi recommends between 2.8-4cuft per sub. Now if you get fancy and do bracing and 45 degree corners you will go below what fi recommends and in return choke the subs.

Ok i pulled the manual of the sub and the measurements give for box volume didn't take into account the port displacement. So the first box you made was 1.81cuft tuned to 47.41. I see you added to more inches to the port. If you used the same box from the first then your new measurement are 1.76cuft tuned to 46.24. both lead you toward the min specs. So if you really wanted to use the spl size you would have to rebuild the box. The internal area should be very close to 2.7cuft before port displacement. This would tune the box to 42.5.

Since they are dual 2 means for every driver you can get either a 1 ohm load or 4 ohm load. You could get a 2 channel amp capable of 1 ohm stereo and run each speaker independantly, but if you use a mono amp the subs would have to be wired together and the amp would see .5 ohm, 2ohm, or 8 ohms

Ok this is the way the sub wiring should look like The wires running to the stand alone terminals is the amp. Now the aqudioque has two sets of terminals don't worry about that ( thats jus another way to run subs) jus hook to speaker wire into a set of terminals.

A lot of the amplifers that zed made dont go below 2 ohm. He doest not believe in the low impedances cause it is harsh on the amps. How much power are you looking for and i can make a list for ya??

First off you are never going to get a straight answer cause everything is subjective to the install. Second WEIGHT of the sub has nothing to do with the proformance of a sub. Third state your music preference, your goals of the system, car it is going in, and other equipment.

You are jus using one of the coils with in return is hurting the sub. Running it like that is like having a single voice coil sub which would show the amp a 2 ohm load.

You wouldnt get any load cause you havent completed the circuit you need a wire in the positive and negitive on both coils. The way you get the 4 ohm load is you take a small pices of wire about 2ft would be fine and connect it to the positive from one coil to the negitive of the other coil. (each coil connectors are on opposite sides, each side has one positive and one negitive) Then you take the unuse positive and run it to the positive on the amp and you do the same for the negitive and that would give you 4ohms.

He wont need a HO but should get a bigger alt though like one with an 150 amp output. Cause with both amp playing give or take he will be pulling a 125 amps alot of stress on both batteries. Why i say a least 150 is becasue you have to also include for the other electrical that the car use ie lights, etc

Basically what it says is depending on the impedance of the coils d1, d2, d4 wired in parallel will equal the final impeance of d1 = .5 ohm, d2 = 1ohm, d4 = 2ohm. So are you a 100% sure that your sub is d2??

Series wiring would double the impedance so a d2 becomes a 4 ohm load. Heres a pic for that one.

Yes running the coils in parallel will give you a 1 ohm load. Heres a pic

With no pole piece -- infinite baffle or very larger boxes (sealed) With low Q pole piece -- very small boxes (sealed/ported) With Mid Q pole piece -- mid boxes (sealed/ported) This sub would work the best in an infinite baffle but sealed isn't that bad either. If u use the the low Q pole piece and place in a .3 to .4ft^3 box. If you use the midQ pole piece use a .75ft^3 box. If you choose the no pole the best would be infinite baffle

Look at the amp after you turn on the truck a see what lights are on on the the amp. Mostly your looking to see if the power light is on and/or if the protect light is on. Dont turn the vehicle off right a way keep watching the lights for a couple of minutes to see if they change.

Oh my god I am loving those amps. I think Mr. Mantz really out did himself this time. I was not expecting these amps to look this good. I remember him saying about it having leds and the way he incoporated the leds to say his name is down right awesome.

Your alternator in that vehicle is only 55 amps and your subwoofer amp is already pulling more than the alt can produce so you are straining the battery and alternator already. So i think you need to rethink what you need first.

Watch what you are buying from crutchfield cause they can be expensive. As for the headunit the 9886 has only bass/mid/treble +/-7. So if you want more eq you would need either the imprint kit or the 9887. The difference is around 50 dollars. I would not buy two sets of componets i would get one good set and put that in the front and use the money from the 2nd to get a sub, or if you want sound for the back i would get coaxial speakers for the back.
