  1. HidExtras sucks.

I ordered 2 kits from them, one for my car and one for my buddy's car.

    Both had mismatched bulbs.

Mine - they arrived and looked good, for like 3 days. Then one of them was extremely off. Emailed them (since they number they post connects you to an operator that no matter what option you chose it automatically tells you to email them) they asked for a pic for proof then they sent 1 replacement bulb. That bulb matched for like a week and I once again have slightly mismatched bulbs.

Buddy's kit - I didn't help with his install but not even a week later I get a text from him telling me that his were off and they were off just as bad as my original set. That kit was never replaced.

So now I'm looking into DDM Tuning or something else cuz I'll never order from HIDExtras again.

  2. I wouldn't actually be running 450a through this wire though, seeing as how my alt only gives out 250a...

Yeah but still, you'll blow the fuse like Duran said. And even with copper wire you'd need 2 runs. That AQ has 2 Zero gauge inputs anyway?

    250 x 2 = 500

    500>450

hmmmm. Look like it should work. You're not helping him too much. You way (running copper) isn't the only way to do things.

What? Where are you getting 500 from? What he wants to do is too much for KCA, I'd recommend two runs of KCA or Kolossus Flecks for that? The KCA doesn't carry as much current as Copper, duh. That's all I'm saying geez.

You answered your own question right after you asked it. "two runs of KCA"

and I know that's all you're saying, but that's all you keep saying when the guy keeps saying he doesn't has money for that. You're making it seem like that's his only choice.

  3. Why would KCA be so bad if Knu rates it at 250a and Kolossus is rated at 300a? I'm in this same debate and it's about double the price to run Kolossus. My alt only does 250a so I figure I'd be okay to do my runs of power and ground with KCA since I won't be pushing more than 250a through it?

It's not "bad" wire. It's simply fact that the Kolossus Flecks carries more current than the KCA. The Copper wire will run cooler and carry more current. If you want to run KCA that's fine, just don't push it to it's limits. If you want a sports car, buy a sports car. If you want a gas saver, buy a gas saver. Can't have both.

Well I'm just trying to figure out if I will be okay, I'll be running it to 3 Shuriken BT120's and running a new AQ3500d and AQ4x90 off it, so around 450a of draw at full tilt.

You wanna run a potential 450 amps into a wire with a 250 amp fuse?

Just think about that for a second...

    250 x 2 = 500

    500>450

hmmmm. Look like it should work. You're not helping him too much. You way (running copper) isn't the only way to do things.

  4. Yeah, it sucked that I didn't get it. But it sucked even more that I got second because the 1st place guy beat me by .2dbs. =[

I upped the power though and have an EQ in now so it's not running straight of an iPod so I hope to see some gains.

  5. Berto if you want to help before the comp you'll have to come by.

I'm probably gonna have to go by for something, not sure what but I'm sure that once I get into it I'll need help somewhere. And I'm gonna be able to cut out my own center console now cuz I have a woodshop class and we have a large amount of tools available.

  6. not on yours...

i did not remove the seats on our install when we had our delt... single run down the side worked...simple, sometimes i miss it...lol

i will ask my bud if there are any tricks to it....i will try to reply back by tomorrow evening...

i am thinking that they will bes imilar to mine...but do not want to ramble on if i am incorrect

Alright, any info is appreciated. I would look muself tomorrow but I work in the morning and have class in the afternoon so I don't have time tomorrow. I should have time to check it out on Tuesday though, so tips before then would be great.

  7. i had a different install style i was thinking of...that would of brought the wire through the car.... but, not this one... and that install will happen, i want it to stay original... but it will not intrude on the carpet

perhaps you can fab something to smooth the transition out so it will not be as noticable under the carpet... like sides and top.... maybe a sheet of thin board... sorta like underlayment?

Yeah that's a good idea. I have some 1/2" mdf laying around so maybe that'll work. Hey by any chance do you know how to take the driver seat out? I haven't really taken an in depth look but at a quick glance I didn't see any bolts.

  8. i will run under the car......

will be best for my application....

leaving all electronics in the trunk.....

subs in the rear seat area.

big three(four) with multiple grounds through out.

looking at a spool of 2/0 welding cable when it is time.

Damn! I just cut my wire earlier today and I only made it long enough to go though the inside. I just hope you can't tell under my carpet, cuz 6 1/0 runs are gonna be pretty bulky.

  9. I'm with chop, the cold weather is really testing me this year. Good old arthritis is kickin my ass and working the overnight shift doesn't help anything at all. I get to experience the coldest times of the day/night....gotta be at work @10pm and get off @6:30am FTL!!!! Don't get me wrong though, I'm happy to have a job but wish the hours were better. Oh yeah, funky ass tues and wed nights off makes for little to no social life as well. <<<<end rant>>>>

Haha I'm with you on the work thing. I just turned 21 so I'm really ready for the night life with all the clubs and all that around me and I usually get all week off and work Friday and Saturday 3-midnight and Sunday 1-10pm. It's horrible, but I can't really quit because it's real hard to get a job without having to drive about 30 miles and I don't want to do that.

  10. this weather is when it gets good.....

    makes sledding alot faster!

windchill was at -14 for a bit recently..........

    what you know about snot-cycles!!!!

or ice on the eye lashes.... too fun...

i am so glad we are not in the cold regions.... this test me to my limits each year

looking forward to the build pics.....

good luck on wiring her up...

we have a few team members in cali!

guess i know where to take our next vacation....make it a winter vacation ! lol

    chop

I don't think I would eve want to experience snot-cycles or frosted eyelashes. lol

And now that you brought it up, how do you plan on running your wire, under your car or just the regular inside under the carpet?

And you guys should come take a nice warm trip to Cali, lots of guys over here that are open to giving out demos.

  11. Late 80's 350s- 12-16 weeks I should have dual, triple, quad,

By any chance do you think these will fit a 307?

I'm not sure, could you email me a few good pics of your engine layout- with a few clear pics of the way the belt is run? I have at least a dozen brackets I'm trying to get in stock right now, once I get most of those off my plate I'll do a bit more testing.

Yeah I'll try to get you some pics soon.

  12. Right on bro :drink40: I wouldn't mind some cali weather about right now........ -1 outside right now :suicide-santa: FTL!!

I have a long sleeve and a jacket on right now and it's only 45 degrees. I don't think I would ever go outside in -1 degree weather. lol

I have an uncle out in Aurora I believe (I think it's close to Chicago) and I've wanted to visit, but the weather makes me think twice about it. Haha

  13. porkchop and soapbox asked me to post some pics of my ride,

    Looking good there for sure!

    thanks for sharing!

be sure to create a build log as you begin to add the audio gear!

look forward to seeing more of this build.

    chop

    Thanks man.

I'm planning on running my wire by this weekend. And I'm gonna talk to soapbox about going to visit him and have him cut out the pieces I have ready for my center console or just see if I can borrow his router, cut there are some pretty ugly curves on.

I might start a build log with pics of that.

  14. here is some fuel for thought on the MECA subject......

at the bottom of the page is a PDF of the 2010 rule book.

figured i would share it, might give some inspiration within it's information!

    MECA 2010 rule book

I heard there were some slight changes in the rules for 2011.

there is several changes and can be found on the site....

    thanks for mentioning that.

looks like i will have to compete with the big dogs due to the mods i have planned....

oh well, i am sure i will learn plenty from them.

    chop

    No problem.

Yeah, me too. I'm gonna end up in either Mod 4 or 5.
