I have a Zapco Studio Digital series ST-4D running the Bravox CS603CF bridged in the Traverse. It's a strong little amp that sounds very open and airy. I love the little thing and it doesn't seem to have all the limitations I hear people talking about that didn't like the sound of full range digital amps. Sure wish you lived closer, I'd be glad to demo these VE and Zapco amps for you.

You really can't do radiators facing up or down. Gravity isn't your friend in that instance and the cone will sag from gravity pulling on the weight. The rest of it is pretty much completely vehicle dependent and needs testing to determine for sure which orientation is optimal.

Welcome to the forum!! Indeed the tides have turned for many companies who used to be on top of the hill and for some of these newer and smaller companies to really get a chance to get a foot hold in the market. Welcome back to the hobby, new and exciting things await you!

Modeling them is not going to tell you everything you want to know because the doors are really like a leaky enclosure, so any information derived from modeling them will be dubious at best. That being said, if you were willing to build enclosures for them the playing field could be leveled and the modeling more accurate. Not to mention the possibility for improvements in response. Either way I would be willing to try to help with the modeling if you like.

Being an SQ guy at heart I'd never mess with those damn pro audio super tweeters in the first place. Now those SB Acoustics tweeters are some sweet looking units and the word is they're really nice. It would be great to hear your opinion on them.

You need to do a full write up and review of the tweeters after you get some listening time on them. These are at the top of my list for a special project.

Nope, Sencheezy and Shizzzon are two different guys. Sencheezy is Senchez Richardson, Shizzzon is Sean Madison. Both were very active members on the forum here at one time before their endeavors grew well beyond having time for the forum. Both are good guys though, really good guys.

VE Audio is the brand name and they're not widely known or used yet. Honestly I'm not sure they ever will be simply because they're an SQ focused company and products and the prices they are sold at don't lend themselves well to people taking a leap of faith trying something new with almost no reviews or background. I got my VE Audio equipment from the distributor for that very purpose though and like I said I couldn't be happier with the amplifiers. I have a few issues with the components but they're very small issues with the response that are easily cleaned up with a little bit of simple EQ adjustments. The only place I know of to find them for sale is on the SPL-LABS store on WebStore.com or directly from Shizzzon (Sean Madison) who used to be a very active member on the forum here.

I was recently introduced to VE Audio, having installed their little AB 150.2 two channel and D600.1 mono block. The AB150.2 is a Class AB and is a very solid little thing at that. Very clean and strong output that easily drives the matching components very well with no perceivable noise floor. It's rated at 150wrms x 2 @ 4 ohms and I don't think it has any issues providing it. The D600.1 is my favorite between them though. It's about half the size of the AB150 but seems like it just doesn't run out of steam. The D600 is rated 300wrms @ 4 ohms and 600wrms @ 2 ohms. It's powering a single CDT Audio HD12SQ in a simple prefabricated sealed truck style enclosure with enough gusto to surprise everyone who's listened to it. These are the smallest amps I've ever used and I really can't find anything negative about them. Perhaps my only possible complaint would be that the cooling fans in the AB150 are just a little noisier than I would like but I believe that's getting a little nit picky.

In theory the most you can gain from even doubling power is +3dB, and that's in a perfect world which this is not. After factoring in inefficiencies such as power compression you'll never see the entire +3dB gain. Why are you trying to gain more output, are you chasing numbers and competing with it?

Well that's pretty much what I had in mind, up front taking care of the bass, easing up the bottom end work the mids would have to do a little. Aaron, I know you don't have much information available for them yet, but is there a chance that you might know what you're looking at power handling wise and do you have an idea when you might have the T/S available? I'm ready to start planning things!

I'm certain we can help with the amp. In the interest of helping you learn and for us to ensure we're helping as much as possible, would you feel comfortable pulling one sub out of the enclosure to verify the wiring and such? If you could take a few pictures of the back of the sub, where it's wired, and if the entire enclosure we can explain a great deal about what you have. Otherwise it's an educated guess based on the little bit of information you've provided so far. On another note welcome to the forum and I look forward to helping you out!

One general thing about reviews is that not every install is the same and definitely not every ear or listening preference is the same. What sounds good in my vehicle to me might sound like crap to you and vice versa. However it should be apparent that Aaron and Mark don't tend to just throw a product out there without doing a fair bit of testing and work to try to ensure the product is worth releasing in the first place. I have personally used the XCON, ICON, and DCON subwoofers, currently owning the XCON and DCON series. I have experienced the Evil sub and I have used and currently own a set of the Evil 6.5" mids. I'm never going to say they're the beat all end all answer to every situation, I don't think Aaron or Mark would either, but the equipment isn't going anywhere anytime soon and I tend to measure everything I look at and mess with against it. I believe a lot of other folks who've used the SSA equipment feel the same way and I feel that speaks volumes more than any review can.

I see a monster 3 way front stage setup between these, the Evil 6.5's as mids and the Evil 1's.... Damnit man.... lol

I did like the way the red goes with the Evil logo but I definitely liked the way the white popped out better. Thumbs up from me on that decision, though I'll own a set either way, lol.

I'm really surprised that it's not available for your vehicle, they cover almost everything. I know I like the one I got for my wife's Traverse. Though it would be awesome if her HU had the OBD data display.

Did he get put on vacation for a little while? I hate to see all of this as I believe he COULD be a fairly decent member of the forum.

I tested the Auras, Faitals and some Fountek FR88EX drivers in small enclosures mounted on the far corners of the dash in my Jimmy. They are aimed on axis and I have a Focal Solid 2 powering them. The Auras are fantastic but lacked the very upper octaves to my ears. Again the Faitals had no issues at all getting to the top of the spectrum but lacked the warmth the Auras have in spades and that I prefer to have. I ultimately ended up using the Fountek drivers as they seemed, at least to my ears, to be a fusion of some of the best properties of the Auras and Faitals. Forgive the mess that my Jimmy is in on these pictures, it's really a beater not a show truck. Hard to keep it clean between the gravel roads and the mud/dirt/dogs/kids that are in and out of it constantly. Also the little enclosures will be replaced by custom built fiberglass pods mounted to the sail panels when time and funds allow. Right now they work so well and are mounted securely enough that I'm not in a huge hurry to get them done.

I love the equipment list!! I can't wait to see the build progress! I have mixed feelings about what edouble said about the Auras. I tested a set in the Jimmy mounted on axis and all. I agree with you they're definitely not poop. To me they're amazingly smooth with very low distortion, so I used them in my sons truck. However they really do need to be mated with a tweeter and they're not going to be nearly as efficient as the Evil mids. I also have experience with the Faitalpro 3FE25's, the ferrite version to the 3FE22 neo drivers. He's right you really don't need tweeters with them at all and it's unreal how precise and detailed they are. However the sound is colder, sterile with little warmth compared to the Auras. The response reminds me of good horn drivers, it really does. Plus they are extremely efficient though so that's another thing to keep in mind. If you have the money to spare to order the Faitals definitely do so that you can compare them and decide which you like best for your particular install. Whichever you choose I'm certain that you'll find a use for the others in a future project.
